I was just wondering why we can't use HTML like I used to?

No responsible board admin leaves raw HTML turned on...too much of a security vulnerability.

Exactly, other boards where I post do the same.

Having HTML enabled was an oversight on our part, which allowed for some cool stuff... until it allowed for some not-so-cool stuff. Then it was disabled.

Basically, security reasons.
