I want a Custom User Title

How can I get a CUT?

Cynthetiq 01-19-2008 06:32 AM

Custom User Titles are available after being a contributing member for a period of time. Just like other forums are not available to you yet, the custom user title is also not available.

allaboutmusic 01-19-2008 10:56 AM

Yup - it is an earned privilege. I personally think it's a cool idea that you don't get it automatically, and miss the days when avatars had to be earned!

I don't "do" avatars anymore. I say let other members base your personality on your posts, not your avatar. Besides, when reading threads, who wants to see the same 100x100 picture in every other post? I've the same feeling regarding signatures.

Ok. Still, I think if post counts aren't displayed (which IMO, is a good idea), non-CUTs shouldn't be either.

Automerged Doublepost? This is a new one for me.

Cynthetiq 01-19-2008 08:50 PM

You're entitled to those opinions of avatars and non-cuts but that's not how we've designed the board. Originally you earned you avatar after 250 posts. You can turn off avatars and sigs in your UCP.

As far as the automerged doublepost it is designed to stop people from bumping threads.

Which I did when I registered.

I actually think that one's a good idea.

I dunno about the qualifications for the customer user title. Not my experience.

See, I kinda showed up one day and The_Jazz just gave me one with the condition that I must talk self-deprecating "smack" about myself in it.

And you've made me so proud. But someday you'll realize that you never needed the ruby red slippers at all, Dorothy.

allaboutmusic 01-27-2008 05:58 PM

I dunno - Cynthetiq's isn't THAT self-deprecating! :P

Opps,
I had a habit of doing that...

Reading threads that are months, sometimes years old & then bumping them if they are interesting or funny.

Sorry guys.

Don't worry, that's not a problem. The automerge is intended for people who bump a thread within less than 24 hours with that person being the last poster. For example, if someone posts a thread on the request board, then bumps it a few hours later because they want it at the top of the forum.

If I look at my profile is says "dd3953 is not a member of any public groups." However, I have to see someone who is OR where there is even a option to join one.

Is joining public groups something that is "earned" too?

SecretMethod70 01-31-2008 05:13 PM

no, that's just an unused feature of vBulletin

Are there specifics available? I've *survived* this long and can see/post in Exhibition, but I don't see where I have a CUT yet...... Do I need to donate, and if so, how?

You don't need to donate to get a CUT. You are able to donate by clicking on the sig I or many staff members have.

I won't give the specifics, but you're close to getting a CUT. Just keep being a good contributing member and you'll find it will happen before you know it.

There is a clue somewhere in a sticky in this forum, but as Cynthetiq said, don't worry about it. I'm sure that once you get it, you'll wonder why you thought it was such a big deal.

Personally I think the avitars are just a way to personalize things... if you don't want to see them you can turn them off in your control panel.
