Tilted Beauty

I know this sounds superficial but sometimes i have questions about stuff like skin, zits, hair, etc. i know guys have questions too, and maybe then would feel more free to ask on TFP and i don't want to just bring down ladies lounge by posting questions about beauty type stuff.
Health and Fitness Thread is more concerned with the body and it's inner workings and I thought maybe this could be a little more centralized. Then we could ask questions about stuff like shaving, waxing, tanning, ance, shampoos, dandruff, dry skin, nails, teeth whatever anyone could come up with. And maybe folks could recommend products they have already used, i would trust a TFPer's recommendation over a magazine anyday.

Y'know, I can understand the desire for such a forum, I've sometimes wished to see more 'vanity' type posts around here.

for now though, I am not sure if the interest would be great *enough* to warrant it's own forum, but I will strongly urge you to feel totally comfortable using Health & Fitness and/or Ladies Lounge for such topics.

I look forward to seeing some good threads :)

^ What she said.

I would be actually interested to know what the best skin care products and the like are, and how to deal with certain things. I too am looking forward to the posts. :)

This is something that could fall under Ladies' Lounge or Tilted Living or, in certain cases where it is also tied into health, Health & Fitness. Again, we don't need a forum for every niche of life - if a forum started to get overrun by posts of the sort then maybe it would be a consideration.

hmm..
*looks at eletronics, programming, gaming, and a computer forum*

Kinda sexist to just lump it in with a Ladies Lounge issue isn't it Smeth?

No, not at all. I said beauty topics could fall under ladies loung, or tilted living, or health and fitness. Just like sexuality topics could be posted in tilted sexuality or the ladies lounge depending on the intended audience. Mentioning ladies lounge as a possible place for discussion of beauty is not delegating such discussion to a "ladies" environment but merely a recognition of the fact that generally speaking men aren't going to want to pipe in on Revlon vs. Maybelline. Otherwise, by assuming that mentioning the ladies lounge as a possible place to discuss beauty topics is sexist, then the very existence of the ladies lounge would be sexist because it exists in recognition that sometimes ladies want to talk about things that pertain almost exclusively to them (setting aside cross-dressers and drag queens for now and the occasional guy who wears makeup) and aren't concerned about male input. It's an undeniable fact that women tend to wear makeup far more often than men do and, thus, there's nothing sexist about recommending ladies lounge as a place to post such beauty topics. As such, both genders are concerned about healthy skin etc to a certain degree and something like that would fit equally well in tilted living or health and fitness.

So, no, it's not sexist at all. It's simply a recognition of the fact that generally speaking some beauty topics are "ladies" issues and some are more broad.
