Flickr Embedded Media
There may be a reason for this but the default for automatically embedding media from Flickr creates a video box when I try to link to a photo page. What I want to do is create a link of the photo to it's hosted photo page using this code:
Quote:
"][IMG]http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2428/3853291801_b5a6242af1.jpg[/IM I understand it may not be worth changing so that I don't have to click one little check box, but it is annoying, especially since the preview and actual post differ. |
I've always had this problem when embedding flickr photos and the urls, or just whenever I solely wish to post the url address, and then it turns into the video box, regardless.
As you mentioned, in order for it to show properly you need to either post your entry, then re-edit it "go advanced" to uncheck the embed media automatically button to let it display as you wanted in the first place; or you can hotlink the picture only, and then [code] the link you wanted to embed. I know the first option is the ideal, but the automatically-embed feature gets to be so quarrelsome at times that it mangles the original coding, and then to have to re-edit it each time you'd like to make a photo-clickable is what has made me avoid this practice. ---------- Post added at 02:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:42 PM ---------- I usually do this instead: picture / title+author underneath http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2428/...b5a6242af1.jpg Surf by fiatguy85 {unchecked box "Automatically embed media (requires automatic parsing of links in text to be on)" unchecked box "Automatically retrieve titles from external links"} |
I can easily just turn off the Flickr auto embed. will that solve this?

Sorry, I forgot about this thread. Flickr does support video, but I don't know if people use it here or not. If that will fix the issue without affecting too many other people, then please do.

I had the same prob in one of my photo thread. You can solve it by adding line breaks
so [ URL="something"] [ img]somewhere[/img] [ /URL] |
