Kellen Winslow's injuries even worse than first suggested

Browns tight end Kellen Winslow's injuries are much more serious than first thought, NewsChannel5 reported. 5 On Your Side Health Team Anchor Lee Jordan reported sources close to the Winslow story said the Sunday motorcycle accident left Winslow with a broken tibia and femur, along with a fracture to the large bone in his thigh. His ACL was damaged, possibly torn and there are lacerations on his liver and kidney. NewsChannel5's source continues to stand by the information.

One media outlet is even suggesting Winslow's football career is over, WEWS reported.

Winslow previously had two surgeries on the right leg the he broke last fall.

news alert: dont ride on motorcycles if you are a professional athlete

this happens like every year
most teams have rules against their players riding motorcycles

Same thing happened with Jeff Kent, who broke his wrist while supposedly washing his truck. A week or so later, he came clean and said it happened when he was doing wheelies on his motorcycle.

I hope it was worth it to flush his career, along with millions of dollars, down the drain to do freaking wheelies on his crotch rocket.

I feel bad for the guy, but what an idiot. If you want to ride your bike and destroy your body, wait until AFTER you get the money from your contract at least.

Forget winslow, think of the poor shrub :(

djtestudo 05-07-2005 06:14 PM

See Williams, Jason.

I have some sympathy for him because of his injuries and hope he can recover, but not much for violating his contract and putting his career in risk.

I hope if his career is over the Browns sue for the signing bonus. This affects them as well. However, I don't actually hope his career IS over (except for the evil Ravens fan part of me that I'm trying to keep quiet).

I just can't seem to feel any simpathy for this guy. What I do feel is that this is karma. He held out against the Browns last year before he had even stepped on the field as a professional. I personally think it is ridiculous when any pro athlete holds out for more than what the team is offering, but it wasn't like he was a pro-bowler who had had a career season and the Browns were offering him crap. They offered him a good contract and he hadn't played a single down of pro football. What a monumental ass. I'm not saying that I want him to be crippled or die, but I will believe that it is a bit of cosmic justice if his football career is over.

cameroncrazy822 05-10-2005 05:49 AM

That's what the guy gets for going to the Jason Williams School of Motorcycle Safety.

MiSo 05-10-2005 12:58 PM

he was one of the bets TE in college. i was really hoping to see what he would do in the pros. i even picked him in the fantasy draft last year, and was crushed he got hurt.

hope he gets well.

Part of Jason Williams' problem was he went to Duke. That school is cursed when it comes to NBA success.

:D

So the guy gets drafted in the first round after running his mouth, plays 1 game in his first 2 years.

At least he talks a good game.

I thought this was a horrible pick by the Browns a year ago even if Winslow had lived up to the hype. Now Winslow is making sure that this pick might go down as one of the all time worst. Winslow still has a few years to prove that he is not Ryan Leaf though.

I think the Browns should sue for the signing bonus so they can get the cap space back. That team needs a lot of help and they could sign one or two starters with the cap savings.

heccubusiv 05-26-2005 05:38 PM

haha, he is done for the season and maybee longer than that, and now has to start paying back money. I hated him in college, i even made against him when they played at Heinz field back at Miami. Personally its great news, but for the browns fans pretty normal stuff. Your team gets moved, Green gets stabbed by his girlfriend and now this

djtestudo 05-26-2005 06:54 PM

Tim Couch...
Courtney Brown...
Gerard Warren...
William Green...
Kellen Winslow...

Tex13 05-26-2005 08:44 PM

He talks a good game, I wouldn't believe he is sorry to the browns for what he did.
