Jets and 'Skins swap WR
 

ESPN's Len Pasquarelli is reporting the Jets and Redskins have agreed to swap WR Laveranues Coles for WR Santana Moss

Gotta wonder why the Skins would agree to this, I know they were talking about letting Coles go, and he does have that bum foot but Santana Moss has not quite lived up to potential. Not to mention without a big star opposite him I see him as nothing more than a punt returner who plays WR

Yeah, it isn't a great deal for Washington considering Coles is a better & more durable receiver. In addition, Moss is going into his last year, so the Jets would have had to pay good money to resign down the road. However, considering that Skins were ready to release him for nothing a couple weeks ago, at least they got something out of the deal. Moss is a big time playmaker too, if he can stay healthy, he will help win ball games.

The Jets needed a go-to-guy in the passing game, they can't depend on another fantastic year from Martin.

Moss was supposed to be the Go-To-Guy in the passing game, but Pennington forgot how to toss the ball downfield or something, C-Mart played like a man on a mission last year, and I think Pennington was content letting them run the ball. If you look back Moss had a couple of his best games when Q was in at QB while Chad was down with the injury. Not to mention that they finally said his shoulder was pretty torn up after the season when he had surgery to repair it.


I think it will probably be the same way with Coles next year, if they run the ball well Pennington will be happy with that. While a good QB I think that he does not want to throw the ball much he wants to dink and dunk to keep the passer rating and completion % up.

skins get rid of a guy who didn't want to be there (coles)
jets get a guy they had in the first place (coles).

skins get a guy going into his contract year, who will bust his ass to make sure he gets a fat contract the next year (moss)
jets get a guy who's productive (90 catches last year), and who knows their system (played there before) (moss).

seems to be a win-win situation for both teams.
