djtestudo 01-15-2005 04:36 PM

Oh man...Doug Brien just got himself cut...

Esen 01-15-2005 04:58 PM

man real nail biter this steeler - Jet game, would love to see the Jets win actually

djtestudo 01-15-2005 05:05 PM

Great job by the Steelers.

blitz.fenix 01-15-2005 05:08 PM

Goodbye Brien, hope you don't come back next season.

Rdr4evr 01-15-2005 05:10 PM

They had the game won twice. Brien is done.

Spartak 01-15-2005 05:24 PM

And the sound you hear now are the wheels comming off the Ben Roethlisberger band wagon...

Well, maybe not. But he had an absolutely awful game.

Rdr4evr 01-15-2005 05:26 PM

so he is a rookie after all :)

my only hope now is for the Sparrows to get slaughtered.....come on Vick, give me 3 INT's.

archer2371 01-15-2005 05:56 PM

Boy, do I look like an idiot...congrats steelerz, as it looks like Atlanta will crush St. Louis...

Esen 01-15-2005 06:26 PM

Yea, I fell bad for the Jets, they really worked their buts off, but bac kicking seems to be a thme this year for a few games, not just by the jets.

Even though I wanted the Jets to win, I did pick Steelers over them, how sad is that but oh well.

Rdr4evr 01-15-2005 07:01 PM

Holy crap the Rams rush defense BLOWS! They are getting ran over all over the place, I'm still being optimistic though. Go Rams.

heccubusiv 01-15-2005 07:28 PM

Ben played like a veteran but like a veteran like Tim Rattay or Jeff Hoestler instead of how he normally played.

Cross-Over 01-15-2005 07:41 PM

I feel for Jets fans, really no acceptance in a loss like that. That is the NFL Playoffs though; there have been many losses over the years that were tough to stomach.

Wycheck and the Music City Miracle
Norwood's blown field goal
Nedney being roughed at the end of the Pitt/Tenn game
Raiders losing to NE after a ridiculous tuck rule

I guess it is easy for me to put it into perspective at the moment since I am not a Jets fan.

As for the Falcons game, St. Louis can't tackle, and Atlanta can run. It would be a huge comeback for the Rams, I hope it doesn't happen.

filtherton 01-15-2005 07:55 PM

I don't understand how brien had a job at all. Either last year or the year before he missed 2! extra points in one game whilst playing at home with the vikings.

Please don't remind me, it still hurts.

What a slaughter, Rams defense was horrendous. Oh well, can't wait to see the Colts game tomm, that should be a good one and hopefully a blowout is in store for the Patsies, although a longshot.

Hey archer2371, I thought that the Rams might have a chance but damn, Atlanta was on their game tonite. Good job on your picks this season.

ironchef82 01-15-2005 08:36 PM

My thoughts after watching the entire Rams/Falcons game...

-The Rams run defense absolutely stunk. Hey Minnesota/Philly... want to know how to contain the Falcons rushing? Don't do what the Rams did.

-The Rams special teams stunk more.

-Vick had a nice passing completion percentage (12/16) but low yards (82). Then again, no need to pass much when your ground game has over 300 for the night...

-Falcons didn't have to punt until the latter end of the third quarter. Holy cow.

-It was setting up to be quite the game in the first quarter... and then the Rams started to go downhill...

-Did anyone see the fumble by Vick in the first half? It appeared to me like his elbow was down before the ball came loose. And it seemed like I was the only one that saw it like that as the announcers (who sucked) didn't say anything, and there was no challenge.

Go Falcons!

Rooting for the Vikes tomorrow, but expecting to face Philly for the championship. And I'd sure as hell love to see Indy win too.

He wasn't touched when he hit the ground, so he wasn't ruled "down". When the ball popped out (even though it was caused by hitting the ground), it was still a “live” ball. I don't recall seeing a play like that before, but it is the right call.

Doctor_Max 01-15-2005 08:53 PM

Closest thing I remember is Plummer last year diving for a first down and the first thing that hit the ground was the ball which poped out and was returned for a TD. I don't recall if he was touched though.

Eh, I gambled a bit, but good luck on your try for the TFP Bowl Championship.

Gotcha. Thanks for clearing that up.

BonesCPA 01-16-2005 01:27 PM

Why did the national media forget about the Eagles defense? Points allowed says alot. Step 1 down, two more to go.

I totally agree, the only thing I ever hear about their defense is that they are weak stopping the run. No credit was given for their contribution to a one loss season (prior to sitting the starters).

Esen 01-16-2005 03:17 PM

Woot!
I go to week 3
I can't beleive I took out our #1 seed,

Great run DjTestudio!
It was great playing with you.

Yeah, yeah, yeah...;)

When that ball went from LJ Smith into the endzone directly to Freddie Mitchell, I knew it was all over :D

Good luck Chauncey

Rdr4evr 01-16-2005 04:12 PM

Looks like the Colts are done for; Manning still can't get it done in NE. Anyway, if the SB ends up with Atlanta and New England, I won't even bother watching. At the very least I hope its Philly and Pittsburgh/New England, at least that way I have a team to root for.

Bodyhammer86 01-16-2005 04:16 PM

That was a terrible game, pure and simple. I couldn't stand to watch it, the Colts were playing so bad.

Manning can't get all the blame. His defense didn't show up at all. His receievers keep dropping balls. When they do catch it, they fumble it right back.

I'll agree with that SB comment though. Ugh, that'd be terrible.

BonesCPA 01-16-2005 05:15 PM

The final four:

3. steelerz vs. 10. BonesCPA
5. Fantasma vs. 8 Chauncey

Oh, and will Manning ever become a big game quarterback? I think I could have thrown 20 TD's in a dome with the new rule changes. And don't blame their defense, they did what they got paid for - not much effort for not much pay.

Esen 01-16-2005 06:00 PM

Thanks Djtestudio

BonesCPA 01-17-2005 07:17 AM

We know who won the playoff matches, but who won the week? Here is the order of finish for last week based on wins and tiebreakers:

Fantasma
BonesCPA
Chauncey
bond007
Giant Hamburger
steelerz
djtestudo
loonatic8her
ironchef82
blitz.fenix
boom29
degrawj
archer2371
Rdr4evr
heccubsiv

(Oh, in case anybody wondered, no one picked the Colts to be the lowest scoring.)

Giant Hamburger 01-17-2005 07:41 AM

Man did I have the Patriots-Colts game all wrong.
I knew I was in trouble when I saw the weather.
Then I really knew I was in trouble when I saw the first half.
Good luck final four!

Fantasma 01-17-2005 08:24 AM

WOW!
I'm in the final four, besides I won the week.
I think a have the momentum!!
