Grondar 04-19-2003 10:54 PM

If you could play one sport professionally at any position, what would it be?

Let's have a scenario...

You are allowed to play one sport professionally at whichever position you choose.

What sport would you play, and at what position?

Myself, I think I would opt to play shortstop on a professional baseball team.

What would you choose?

shotofwine 04-19-2003 11:21 PM

the final pairings at Augusta National

stroke9413 04-19-2003 11:53 PM

Hmmm....interesting question....I think I would have to go with third base on a professional baseball team, always loved that position when I was younger.

oane 04-20-2003 04:02 AM

Formula 1 racing. preferably NOT for Minardi...hah.

apetaster 04-20-2003 04:16 AM

Ladies tennis. Position - sportsbra.

paddyjoe 04-20-2003 04:56 AM

I'd love to drive for a Winston Cup team. Preferably one with the top bucks, so I wouldn't be bringing up the rear. I guess come to think of it, if it was me i'd be in the back anyways.

sixate 04-20-2003 05:33 AM

Basketball. Forward for the Lakers! I'd love to be on that team when the Lakers beat the Kings, again.

bundy 04-20-2003 06:21 AM

Driver - Ferrari F1 team.
that would be rock and roll!

i could be as fast and loose as i wanted and have an excuse!

gov135 04-20-2003 09:10 AM

Driver - Williams BMW, Formula One.

Second baseman for the Cleveland Indians would be nice, too.

Interesting question, some good responses.

Eiresol 04-20-2003 11:45 AM

striker for FC Barcelona (or Liverpool)

heccubusiv 04-20-2003 03:56 PM

Baseball pitcher... you make a ton of money and only work every five games... if you are a middle reliever you get it even better because you might not have to work at all if your other pitchers do there job

degrawj 04-20-2003 06:13 PM

i wish i could be a basketball player. preferably a power forward. but, being as i am only six feet tall and 170 pounds, i don't think that is going to happen.

spooney 04-20-2003 06:14 PM

Right Wing for the Colorado Avalanche.

Quadraton 04-20-2003 06:45 PM

Either a Right Wing, or a Defence in any Canadian NHL Hockey team, preferably with the Montreal Canadians, or the Ottawa Senators.

I'd have a mighty slap shot that could send the puck flying at 300 km/h (180 mph), and burn holes through solid rock. My body check would bring forth the fury and anger of the heavens, and even the toughest of opponents would shatter on contact. The Stanley Cup would be my birthright!

...okay, now I'm just daydreaming...

bubbaspike 04-20-2003 07:59 PM

Winston cup stock car Crew Chief.
I'm getting too old to drive.

yournamehere 04-20-2003 08:00 PM

Golfer.
Position? 1st place, of course.

ShadowWraith 04-20-2003 08:12 PM

i'd want to be the best damn goalie the toronto maple leafs ever had, just so they'd finally win a stanley cup already.

SysteMatiC 04-20-2003 08:20 PM

i would be an nfl running back

ToiletDuck 04-20-2003 08:31 PM

Id like to go back to 1989 for my senior year and get a second shot that i took from the point only to have it go high on the glove side. We lost the finals that year:(

Ohh...I was a defensmen

ramon 04-20-2003 09:07 PM

Bullpen Catcher. No pressure, best seats in the stadium, and all you gotta do play catch once in a while. Perfect for lazy people like me.

cub4life78 04-20-2003 09:10 PM

I would play 3rd in baseball and outside linebacker in football.

FunHater 04-20-2003 09:59 PM

I can't decide.

Either a free safety for the Oakland Raiders or a left winger for the Edmonton Oilers. God, the Oilers need some talent. Losing to Dallas in the playoffs is getting old.

maximusveritas 04-20-2003 10:03 PM

I'd say point guard in the NBA, because that's the only thing i could imagine being decent at.

joneseyjones 04-20-2003 10:19 PM

the guy at the end of the tampa bay devil rays' bench making league minimum.

I would be a bench warmer i mean 400k to sit on ur ass and eat sunflower seeds SWEET deal

opentocomments 04-20-2003 10:42 PM

Darn Jonesey u beat me to the punch lol

Jadey 04-20-2003 10:47 PM

I'd like to be a catcher for the St Louis Cardinals.

My second choice would be they're Closer. I'd love to walk out of the Bullpen with the game on the line with the Intro to Walk from Pantera playing over the PA System.

Great Scott 04-21-2003 03:00 AM

I would just kill to be 6´10" and about 270. I would be the dominant power forward in the NBA. I'd have it all, power, touch, passing, handle, could play with my back to the basket or facing it. Wow, that would be great. I have often wished this very thing. Too bad that I am no longer likely to grow beyond my 5´9" 150.

Neo 04-21-2003 03:38 AM

Baseball, Rockies, 3rd base, scoopin every hot grounder that comes my way. ;)

Whoa!!

crewsor 04-21-2003 03:44 AM

Quarterback,NFL, on any team with a decent O-line.

zizdog69 04-21-2003 03:48 AM

Seriously, just to play golf professionally would be the best. If you did that, and did not have to worry about winning, it would be the highest point of my life.

That would be great, because it would be an all Canadian final with me between the pipes in Edmonton. It would go to major overtime in game seven, and they'd have to pull one of us to score a goal :-)

Either that or the Leafs and Oilers could take turns winning the cup every other year.

RAMONES!!! 04-21-2003 09:32 AM

NHL GOALIE, PERFERABLY FOR THE LIGHTNING BUT JUST TO PLAY WOULD BE GREAT!

Giant Hamburger 04-21-2003 09:55 AM

Left-handed sidearm/submarine relief pitcher.
I go in and face 1 lefty batter every once in a while.
The rest of the time I'm spitting sunflower seeds in the bullpen.
Too bad I'm not even left-handed.

The lakers got to beat SA first

Panopticon 04-21-2003 02:32 PM

Wow, this is so tough. I'd probably want to be a Center Fielder in the majors, for any team.

I'd also like to be a left winger for the Penguins and play alongside Mario...

Although, I would love to be a Formula 1 driver...if you consider that a sport.

The only thing I wouldn't want to do is be a basketball player...

With Tirian's response, I've decided that left-wing for the Oilers would be my choice...then I'd make sure the damned Leafs lost in the finals, over and over and over again.:D

Peetster 04-21-2003 03:56 PM

Closing pitcher for any team. The cash is great, you "work" 15 minutes a day tops, and you make a huge impact on the outcome.

sierra2774 04-21-2003 05:32 PM

Wide Receiver, Football, hopefully for the Steelers!

Cycler 04-21-2003 07:28 PM

Professional Bicycle racer Road or Mtn. Too bad I didn't have the commitment to keep up the training involved life sort of got in the way.
OR
Grand Prix unlimited Motorcycle racer those guys are crazy.

sngx1275 04-21-2003 08:07 PM

Yeh I'm going to go with MLB Pitcher, wouldn't really care, just as long as I could be one. But a closer would be nice.

Empty_One 04-22-2003 05:27 AM

Quake 3 arena, Sniper :)

Is that professional gamers league still around?

Met22 04-22-2003 12:57 PM

Give me Fisher's spot on the Lakers!
4-peat

edmos1 04-22-2003 02:48 PM

Wow great topic,
NFL Running back stud, or Cornerback, running back could win a game everydown, corner back gets lay down good hits, and has good opportunity for being the hero with an interception
NBA #2 guard seems like this is the position that can take over a game, lots of talent at the position
Pro Golfer, probably closer to this than either of the other two, and do not see this in my futre.

Seems like lots of Hockey fans and quite a few F1 fans around

bond007 04-22-2003 03:29 PM

Quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys!

dwqpml 04-23-2003 02:58 AM

Football,Defensive End.

olibomb 04-23-2003 02:59 AM

Point guard

cinnles 04-23-2003 05:22 AM

The number one rider on Honda's factory grand prix team.

Move over Valentino... ;)

MSUPete 04-23-2003 10:18 AM

The easiest was out would say a pitcher or a golfer, but I'd love to be a NFL running back.

And they haven't already had some great goaltenders? The Leafs have been privileged enough to play with both Curtis Joseph and Ed Belfour, and yet, they still can't make it to the Playoff finals.

Face it, you could put a brick wall over the net, but it wouldn't make any difference if the team in front of it doesn't score any goals.

buffto 05-21-2003 12:50 AM

Allstar shortstop for Cardinals.
Or one of those crazy ass billiards players who can curve balls all over the place and run the table. God damn they're awesome.

Todders2003 05-21-2003 09:06 AM

QB for the eagles, but i dont think ill b able to displace McNabb any time soon

archer2371 05-21-2003 03:58 PM

The first Texan Goalie to play for the Dallas Stars, and hopefully I could break Turco's record of best modern GAA. Or a Formula One Racer for Ferrari.

SLM3 05-22-2003 01:20 AM

Easy, I would drive for Mclaren Mercedes. They just unveiled the new car, it's rediculous! Check it out:

http://www.movin2fast.com/modules.ph...iewtopic&t=171

Hopefully they'll run by Montreal. I can't wait. Went in 2001, going again next month.

SLM3

VirFighter 05-22-2003 10:04 AM

Safety in the NFL :)

You get to punish wide receivers that dare cross the middle and you can still make interceptions too :D

I would be about anything besides a lineman in professional football.

dragon2fire 05-23-2003 11:21 PM

point gurad on a nba team

o that would be so much fun

Atanvarno 05-24-2003 07:07 AM

Helmsman :D

Kllr Wolf 05-24-2003 04:53 PM

The best goalie the NHL has ever seen

or a ace car driver (dont care the type as long as it is fast)

crackpot 05-24-2003 07:16 PM

NHL for sure, left wing.
I even have a radical new move that'll stun everyone. See, I'll get behind their net, with the puck. Fake one way, maybe fake the other way. Then I'd flip the puck up over the net, where hopefully it'd bounce down off the goaltender's back, and into the net. It works in my dreams, anyway. ;)

phyzix525 05-29-2003 11:26 AM

In terms of money made... I would go with a PGA. Think about it, Tiger will have a career for the next 50 years. No other pro sports will let you play that long.

In terms of fun, I would pick WRC driver. I would love to drive a subaru rally car up pikes peak. Not much glory or money but fun as shit!

~springrain 05-29-2003 11:28 AM

easy one for me...

RUGBY... Scrum Half... New Zealand All Blacks... :)

Halx 05-29-2003 12:52 PM

backup point guard for the lakers
i'll take all the 3's that Robert Horry wont be taking next year.

forseti-6 05-29-2003 02:24 PM

I'd like to be Arod

BigBlueWrecking 05-29-2003 02:26 PM

I was a college pitcher, but I was an All State QB in high school. I would pick QB if I had it to do all over again. Instead I chose baseball and threw out my arm.

Lovely 06-01-2003 01:35 PM

Cross - country running!

mud - SsplaSSHH''''

Cross-Over 06-01-2003 05:41 PM

I would love to be a 6 foot 7 point guard in the NBA. Even though its rare to be that tall at the 1 spot (nobody since Magic), this is all for kicks right ;)

I wouldnt mind being the number two scoring option unlike many point guards today, I just want the ball in my hand, so I can make the right decisions. The height would also enable me effectively guard the 1-3 spot whenever needed.

Vaultboy 06-01-2003 08:49 PM

I find it funny that nobody has picked to play in the Beautiful Game yet. God knows no sports star can be bigger than a footballer (i.e. "Soccer" player).

I'd like to be a left-winger for a Premiership or La Liga club. Preferably Arsenal, cuz I've been a Gunner fan all my life. If Spain, well there's no bigger club than Madrid, now is there?

say what? 06-03-2003 12:07 PM

I'm surprised there aren't too many pro football (American) wannabees.

I would be a badass defensive end and smack those pretty boy QBs around.

absorbentishe 06-03-2003 01:21 PM

Pro golfer in the top 125 on the money list... Just because

If not, 2nd base for a pro baseball team, doesn't matter which one...

bish 06-04-2003 07:53 AM

Playing golf every week on the PGA Tour baby!!

Jaiddin 06-07-2003 08:07 AM

Free Safety, NFL. Nothing like gettin a runnin start as u bring the wood on some poor halfback that never sees u coming. Damn my knees.

Omar12 06-07-2003 09:01 AM

Small Forward for the Nets

warrrreagl 06-08-2003 08:23 AM

Middle linebacker, NFL (I think I dated myself with this answer).

GunslingerCold 06-09-2003 12:33 AM

Id love to be on a world cup team. the most popular sporting event in the world. Score the game winning goal in the finals and your the biggest hero in the world. Of course, you could always pull a Baggio and have that hang over you forever.

Nikilidstrom 06-11-2003 03:58 PM

The best damn American center the NHL has ever seen, great 2-way skills, explosive speed, amazing puckhandler and face-off artist, and unrivaled playmaking abilities.....

a guy can dream can't he?

saintsfan 06-12-2003 03:42 PM

Hard8s 06-13-2003 05:24 AM

A center for any NHL team. Hockey is just the best sport around.

Glory's Sun 06-13-2003 08:09 AM

striker for Manchester United or left wing for red wings :D

bouray 06-15-2003 08:35 AM

Middle or outside Linebacker for an NFL franchise....normally the leader of the defense and the baddest MF on the field. You get to do it all: QB blitz, run stopper, and pass defender. Plus you can get the best snot forming shots on everbody!!!

belaBoy 06-17-2003 06:30 PM

Domestique for Lance as he pulls away from the peloton during the Tour! Or Lance's protegé, after he's done whipping ass.

Scottie Pippen for the Blazers last year, he's about 6'6" or so.

Anyways, there are the obvious, race car driver, QB for the Packers, Safety for the Eagles in the Vet so not only would I get to take Randy Moss's head off, but I could also grind it to a bloody pulp against the concrete.

But one that hasn't been mentioned, a defenseman in the dead MILL (Major Indoor Lacrosse League). Not only can you hit people with that long crosse, but on a hockey rink they can't run either :D

eyeseepeedude 06-18-2003 04:25 AM

Outfield - pro baseball.

livingitup101 06-18-2003 07:08 AM

QB for the Redskins. No doubt about it.

Pheatius 06-18-2003 11:24 AM

I would want to be a high-scoring defenseman for the Nashville Predators...they need me badly...

RoloTomassy 06-18-2003 11:50 PM

I'll be the first to say this.... Pro Beach Volleyball player.... how great would that be? You may not make a whole lot of money but your whole job is a vacation.

IRON Fist 06-19-2003 08:39 AM

I'd have to be wide receiver for the Denver Broncos, they have 2 good receivers already so the pressure would be off of me and i could make some spectacular catches. Plus receivers only get decked occasionally.

NoCure 06-19-2003 09:19 AM

Goalie for the USA Olympic Team

msimon8 06-21-2003 08:56 PM
