Once again, I will be drawn to the sweet siren song of the Houston Astros and I will almost certainly be dashed against the jagged rocks on the shores of September. Nonetheless the song is irresistible.

Last season this year, think I said that in the last 3 years but this time, it's the last one for sure. If Everett and Batista play well and the pitching staff don't break in two, I say they will battle for the Wild Card till the end, just like last year. This is the year of the Cubs though, but once the playoffs start, anything can happen.

Tigers sign Urbina.... now they have almost 1/2 of a pitching staff!
Shocking prediction: The Tigers will NOT lose 100 games this year!

I did make a major mistake and forgot to add Maddox onto the Cubs. But I don't think Maddox will change things much in Chicago or in the Fall. I still see a Cubs-A's World Series and a very close 7 gamer, quite possibly the greatest WS ever.

Nobody wants Griffey till he proves he is in great shape. Yesterday straining his hamstring and his careful play throughout ST tells me he is either hurting or scared of another injury. Either way no team will take him for the money the REDS are paying him and what's the point in trading him for scrubs if you still have to eat his salary.
Besides, the eternal optimist in me believes JR still can comeback. What's killing him is everyone keeps putting pressure on him to produce like he did. I say let him get the love back and once he does the superstar in him will comeback. He came to Cincy because he wanted to be a RED and since his arrival noone has allowed JR to be JR, everyone wants JR to be the star. Yes, he is paid a fortune and yes, people who get paid as much as he is should be able to handle the pressure. But that's easy for all of us to say, but some people need to be shown that they are more than some moneymaking machine. I truly believe JR came back to Cincy because he didn't think he'd have the pressure and heartbreak he has had. Since his arrival all people talk about is his glory days and how "bad" he is now (hell, I'd sell my soul for just one of his "bad years" in the Majors). Sad really, JR was the greatest player I ever saw. I truly hope someday he gets that smile and love back and I can see that freeflowing swing and homerun trot again. 'cause baby, that man made it all look so easy.
