transsexual in Golf

i'm sure most have heard that a woman orginally born a man is playing in a golf tournament. She has dreams to play professionally. However, the LPGA has rules that say a transgender can not play professionally on its tour.

How is it fair that a woman can play in the Men's tour (even if it's a sponsors exemption) but a transgender can't play on womens tour, eventho the transgender is "officially" a woman now.

if i transgender can't play on the womans tour cuz she's deemed to be physically stronger than the average female golfer (unfair advantage) than i think the pga should stop letting woman play on the pga tour.

the rules have to be fair both ways..

Well I look at two ways. First if someone is truly in that position and think that they are a man trapped in a mans body then more power to them to change. However, I still think it is unfair to the natural born females competing out there that they have a former male with naturally born strength that they have to compete against.

I watched PTI tonight and they brought up the question of what stops some guy of changing his gender to succed in womens sports?

yeah good point with the whole male natural strength i had not thought about it from that point of view, but it is an odd situation nonetheless

Nevertheless if there is a advantage or not, i think he/she shouldnt be able to play. The mens is where she? should play. I guess, im just not so opened minded to the whole "transgender " thing. Thats some serious, mental, crazy, stuff. The drag-queen shows must night pay enough.

Apparantly she (the transgender golfer - forgot her name) said that once you take hormone supplements you lose a lot of your muscle mass and strength.

funny thing is her drives only average 200yards anyways.. Annika Sorenstam averages either 260 or 280yards. So her being a former male doesnt' even give her an advantage.

whoa, that's gotta be some crazy guy to lop off his weiner to want to play in woman's sports and succeed.

how would the LPGA tour feel if the PGA tour had a rule that only males at birth were allowed to compete? I believe tour officials even said that women golfers in teh PGA was good for the woman's tour. It gave them more exposure.

Wasn't there some sort of protest by a women's group b4 when a certain golf tournament didnt' allow female golfers to participate? there was a big hoopla about it. After advocating womens rights and equality, how can these same ppl not step up and help fight for the transgenders rights?

rene richards was denied playing tennis on the women's circuit for quite some time - when finally aloud "she" won "her" first tournament - some say "she" would dominate the tour after that - "she" never won again

djtestudo 03-05-2004 09:53 AM

PTI brought up the case of a tennis player doing it in the '70s and everyone thinking it would happen a lot, when it never did. They also mentioned that those who have this procedure end up with less testosterone then an average woman, plus the loss of muscle mass. They don't end up like East German female athletes, but like regular women.

I have no problem with this. As I heard someone put it, as long as the genitalia matches, it's alright.

Also, I think the LPGA has it in exact terminology that its the "best of women golfers"... while the PGA just states "best golfers"... stupid.. but hey...

djtestudo 03-05-2004 02:18 PM

The official rule that causes the problem states that the golfer must be born a women.

rockzilla 03-05-2004 05:30 PM

Either way, last I heard, she was 16 strokes off the lead. So much for "natural male strength".

Annabella 03-17-2004 03:25 PM

Thats pretty sick to hear

Annabella 03-17-2004 03:26 PM

But if it really is true, don't know what to think or say

Kurant 03-17-2004 03:58 PM

It's disgusting, and if there is rules for it, thank god. This doesn't need to go any further then that.

Fuggin sickos.
