I was an avid bowler, until this year. I had shoulder surgery, only got about 30 games in this year, I think I was around 209 or so though. I haven't booked less then 214 since I was about 17 and highest in the last 10 years (I'm 27) has been 228. I have 9-800's and 14-300's. Held the Alaska state record for series, I broke a record that was 12 years old, shot 848, record was 844, just my luck, a guy by the name of Robert Hammond Jr. broke my record 11 days later.
Gee thanks. =/ I competed in Team USA at the Bowling Stadium in Reno in 1998 and 1999, finished 22nd in 98, made the cut and had to withdraw in 99 due to shoulder problems. ABC Masters in 2000, missed the cut, missed a 4-7 to miss the cut by 6. I also had competed in various Mega Bucks tourny's in Vegas, the Mini Eliminator, and the TAC. Never qualified for the TAC the time I went, finished 17th and 42nd in the mini the 2 times I've been. I do ok, although, my bowling days are about to come to an end. High School and College Baseball has kicked my ass. EDIT: Delirious typing rules. The drugs they gave me rocks. =) Bed time! My spelling sucks too. =) Last edited by Kurant; 02-17-2004 at 10:46 PM.. |

I'm 18, quit bowling last year due to time restraints. Plan on picking it up again next year. Finished with an average of 184, but it was constantly going up. Placed well in a lot of tournaments, including a few first places in YABA state tournaments.

I average about 150. Best game is 195. Beer makes me a better bwoler. That's the important part.

I'm terrible, the best I've ever done was like 180, enjoy every minute of it though.

Love to bowl. Belong to two leagues. Average 196 so far this year.
Couple of weeks ago, my Monday night team (5 man) shot a 3435 series (that's an average of 229 per man per game) . Our low man shot 635, I shot 660 and the other three all shot over 700. We set a record for the league. I'm a YABA certified coach. It's a lot of fun helping the kids.

Let me be the oddball here - candlepin bowler, not in a league right now, but when I was my average hovered right around 100.

Im terrible, but I love bowling. In a league last summer I managed to post a 306 handicap game. Thats what a 211 with a 95 handicap gets ya. Needless to say, that 211 is my top game. When I was my most consistant I would average around a 120. Terrible, I know.

Takes practice and repetition to start making your spares consistently. That's the first step towards a higher average. Throwing a bunch of strikes can get you a 200+ game, but making your spares, when the strikes don't come, makes for more wins and a higher average.
I was told years ago that it's hard to get better if you only bowl once a week. I'm proof of that. 10 years ago, I started taking the game more seriously. I've added 30+ pins to my average in that time and my teams have won several championships. Plus, it's more fun to bowl when the pins fall down!

You're quite right, buffto. I've opened the first, then strung the next 10... less painful than the other way around.
289 is pretty nice, though! good game!

I had a question about drilling. I just found some old balls in my garage but the holes don't fit my fingers at all. Is there any way I can salvage these?
I don't think I bowl enough to get a good average going, but my personal best was a 212 about 3 years ago. I now bowl 100's, but have a hell of a lot of fun in the process. |

Also a director for my local association In response to fixing your old balls in the garage. Unfortunately in today's bowling, the technology is so advanced, those balls might only be good for very dry lanes or for shooting at spares(straight shot). |

I went bowling last weekend, my best game was a 98! (I beat my wife and little brother though, and that's all that counts).
I've thought about joining a league, but it's a lot of time commitment, and I'm afraid my pitifulness would just make me a laughing stock.

My last books were 196 & 199. I just started again last week after about a year and a half and a shoulder injury. I threw a 465, that's the worst series I've bowled in like 10 years or more, but it shouldn't take long to get back in to it.

I use a urethane hammer and average 193. The 10 pin is likely going to be burried with me when I die because that will be the one time I can surely take it down.

Too hot in the hot tub!

I am in my second season in a local leauge. Before last season, I hadn't set foot in an alley since highschool (about 10 years). I am sitting on a 145 average, but I'm going up. I really need to get in there more than once a week though.
Latley, I just can get my ball placement right. For the first few weeks of the season, I had it down cold. Hitting 180's & 190's. But after about the fourth week, I started pulling to the right really hard and I can't figure out why. I am paying more attention to my shoulders and my release (I have a bad habit of throwing a back up ball, but that's to the left, and would be a relief right now). About every fourth frame, I'll throw one perfectly, but I'll be damned if I know the difference between that ball and the one before it. Oh, and my high game is a 225.
