2 Monday night games??
What do you guys think about them toying with the idea of 2 monday night games?? I think it would maybe make for some better matchups, but is the nfl really worried about that or making their pockets fat???
http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/6915329 Just because one team is doing poorly the other team could loose out of alot of money by loosing its national tv coverage. Has pluses and minuses, interested to see what others think. |
I don't like the idea. I suspect the matchup will not be picked based purely on the quality of the team. Imagine if ABC had the choice of picking the 2-9 Falcons versus the Cincinatti-Baltimore game (two non-glamerous teams in a playoff fight). What do you think we would have be subjected to?
I think this will ensure that some teams (Dallas, Atlanta, Raiders, etc) in up getting more Monday night games than they do now. |
well according to the espn article I read the more attractive game would be televised nationally and the lesser would be televised regionally..that would make more sense. I don't really care either way as long as there's football on tv :D

Since Disney owns both ABC and ESPN, let MNF have first pick of the games and give ESPN the crap game. That won't happen of course because it makes too much sense.
|
Stupid plan. I like the one where they pick the second-half games a month/six weeks in advance so that the bad games will be weeded out more.
|
I actually like this idea. I definately look forward to a game Monday Night, and it always sucks when it is two crappie teams against each other, or when it is a great team versus a bottom level team.

Crappy, crappy, CRAPPY, idea. (The two games, not the good Sunday night game)
If you want good games on Sunday and Monday night, argue for flexible scheduling. Fact is, it will ALWAYS be a crapshoot if you're trying to select which teams will do great at the beginning of the year (see Falcons). Most weeks you'll end up with very few good teams, or one team that does good and one that under performs. Under the idea you propose, these teams that would get a few games, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Tampa Bay. Now, how many of the Panther, Bengal, and Chief games would be looked over? It's all one big crapshoot. Oh, and they'd also have to fight with Fox and CBS. Not exactly fun. |

I like the ABC/ESPN idea also; this way we could actually choose which game to watch! Wow, what a novel idea! It's so smart!
Which means it will prolly never happen. |
I like the idea. some of the matchups recently have really sucked. Also, it gives more teams that are non-traditional powers a chnace of appearing on Monday Night football.
|
It would be cool if they did a online poll that would give the viewers some input on which game they choose.
Or better yet they could setup something like the BCS to decide...... oh god what the hell am I thinking??????? |
