WTF!!!!!!

USC got cheated! AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Cycler 12-07-2003 02:54 PM

Yeah but at least OUs inability to win at the end didn't screw Oklahoma State from the Cotton Bowl, I already had tickets. Pucker.<p>Dude Where do you think Texas will end up Alamo or Holiday, Flip Flop with Nebraska possibility? Don't you wish you'd bet LD that 500?

The_Dude 12-07-2003 02:55 PM

I'm not that sure that okies will get cotton bowl since texas has better conf record AND a higher (#5) bcs ranking.

yeah, it would've been sweet if had 500 to bet though.
btw, u can sell me the cotton bowl tiks if osu doesnt get in ;)

AL9045 12-07-2003 02:58 PM

YEA! GO LSU! *Shrugs*.

Spartak 12-07-2003 03:07 PM

OU vs USC would have been a better game from what I could gather*

*from the limited coverage ESPN international gives.

Glory's Sun 12-07-2003 05:48 PM

florida state vs. miami (again) blah.. even this rivalry needs a break... damn I hate the bcs.. there has to be a better way..

Rudel73 12-07-2003 06:46 PM

Texas vs Washington St :) Go Cougs!!

Anyway, this just shows that the BCS is complete CRAP. It sends a team that isn't even the best in their own conference to the national championship. How can that be? How can a team claim national champs if they cant even win their own conference!? It should be LSU - USC period!

The_Dude 12-07-2003 06:50 PM

USC didnt have to play a conf championship game, while OU did. OU is the regular season big xii champs.

There is a better way. It's called a playoff, and all other sports are smart enough to do it. If the BCS isn't ditched after this year I'll never watch another college football game until it is dumped.

UTRA 12-07-2003 07:02 PM

I hate the damn BCS, or what should be called the BSC, the Bull Shit Championship. I hate the sooners. I hate bob stoops threw that football game just to fuck over Texas. I hate the fact that the 2 one loss conference champions don't get to play eachother for the national championship. I hate that ohio state was ranked above Texas in the BSC poll. I hate that Miami, Florida State and Kansas State play in a BSC game while Texas and Tennessee get the F-job. I hate ou. I hate that the Big 12 championship did not feature the two best teams in the Big 12. I hate the whole damn system. And by the way, I really f@#ing hate ou.

Kurant 12-07-2003 08:12 PM

BCS is bullshit, USC should be there, not LSU. So much for the hotshits around here who argued with me how well it works. It's crap. The system after this year must be completely revamped.

Division 2 and 3 College Football both have playoff systems. WTF doesn't division 1?

Why shouldn't FSU play in a bowl game?? We're conference champs after all.

djtestudo 12-07-2003 09:57 PM

Only because Rix played slightly less sucky then his normal big game play and Phillip Rivers STILL hasn't won a critical game dating back to about Pop Warner...not that I'm bitter or anything :)

actually, LSU should be there...along with USC. and OU should be riding the pine in a lesser bowl. anyone who has watched LSU play this year, knows that LSU deserves to be playing for a title.

Nimbletoe 12-08-2003 10:39 AM

My take on things:

USC lost to an unranked team. OU was playing dominant football all season long, but since they lost their last game, people think they shouldn't be playing for the championship. Shit, one week, people are trying to say that OU could hang with an NFL team, and the next week, that they shouldn't even be playing for the championship? Come on.

I don't see where you people get off saying that USC is getting screwed. They beat what, 2 ranked teams? Whoopdy doo, you just don't lose to unranked teams like Cali and then bitch when you don't get to play for the national championship. I don't like the BCS as much as the next guy, and I agree there should be a playoff system, but LSU vs. OU makes much more sense than having USC interchanged for either of those teams.

yeah, I sure hope that you also watched OU play this year.

A team that went 11-1 with a strength of schedule of #11 in the nation deserves to play for the title more than teams that went 11-1 with SOS's of 29 and 37.

bigoldalphamale 12-08-2003 10:45 AM

agreed, but USC and LSU didnt drop the big games coming down the stretch...unfortunately for OU, they lost to a K-State team that had some losses this year that should have been blow outs in thier favor...they just didnt look like a title contender this past weekend. USC and LSU both did.

Yes, im also sure Stoops threw that game thinking, hey, I have nothing better to do, lets just fuck over Texas! And um, who do YOU think are the best two teams in the big 12?

UTRA 12-08-2003 11:25 AM

oklahoma and Texas were the best 2 teams in the Big 12. In response to the other one, if you're going to have BCS rankings, why not play the top 8 teams? I just think it's crap that the number 6 and 7 teams get left out while 8, 9, and 10 are in.

err..USC played Oregon State. OU played a top15 kansas state.

I do believe Texas got killed by OU, whereas K State beat the "unbeatable" Sooners. Sooo... you so sure that Texas was the better team? I understand anything can happen in college football... but K State won pretty decisivley, as did OU against Texas...

Yeah, and USC really looked like contenders when they played Cali... you people and your short term memories =) There was more to this season than the last games... you have to remember the entire season, not just what you want to remember, or can remember. Hence why im not mad that UofM isnt even near contention for the national championship even though I think they are going to put USC in their place ;)

BadForm 12-08-2003 12:07 PM

OU didn't win their conference - they don't deserve to be in the national championship game. I don't doubt that they may have more talent than both USC and LSU, but I feel that they blew their chance Saturday. If you simply let OU into the national championship game based on their roster, why even play the other 12 games.

Nimbletoe 12-08-2003 12:15 PM

I agree that its stupid that the BCS is set up that way, that OU can lose their conference and still be in the national championship. But for this certain circumstance, conference championships don't really mean all that much.

my contention is: if you lose your conference championship, particularly in the hurting fashion that OU lost to k-state, then you dont deserve to play for a title. effectively making the games from this past weekend, far more relevant for the three teams in question here. additionally, every analyst worth his salt constantly stresses the importance of getting your loss out of the way early because a late loss has a far greater impact in the BCS in later weeks. not trying to argue with you...but this is how this flawed system works...USC struggling against Cal or not.

USC didnt have to play a conferance championship game for god's sakes, let alone against a ranked opponent!

If Big XII crowned the conferance champion the same way that the PAC 10 did, then OU would've won the conferance.

Nimbletoe 12-08-2003 01:58 PM

Damn you The_Dude for saying what I was going to say word for word =)

Yeah, some tough opponent USC had to play the last week.

captain 12-08-2003 02:14 PM

Time to remove the "c" from "bcs". The bcs cmte has proven the system does not work.

By rule the winner of the Sugar bowl is declared the National Champions. That is by a unanimous vote of the coaches. It would be great if the coaches practiced jury nullification and voted USC first(if they beat Michigan).

This bsc is seriously flawed.

By the way OU didn't just lose the last game-they had their asses handed to them.

Nimbletoe 12-08-2003 03:38 PM

Having your ass handed to you by a solid, ranked team is about equal to losing to an unranked team that you should have trounced, at least in my book.

They had one off week, just like every other team at the top has had. LSU will lose one more. OU will start the new year 1 and 0.
