NBA: Is the East really that bad?

I mean.. only 3 of 15 teams are above .500

The entire Atlantic division is below .500 (Well.. Philly may win tonight)

Nobody trusts their coaches.

I am willing to venture that last year's Western Conference Bastard Child Denver Nuggets can whoop any team in the east.

Stars are underperforming. Pierce? T-Mac? Vinsanity? K-Mart? H2O?
Forget it.

Once again, the championship will be decided in the WCF.

If you look at most of the teams in the East, most of them have only one true scorer (players who are able to put up 20 points per game on a nightly basis), whereas most of the teams in the West have at least two of them.

The east is weak as fuck. I don't see a team in the east that could beat any western conference playoff team in a 7 game series. I've seen every Cavs game on TV this year, and all of the teams in the east blow. The Cavs are too young and dumb to do anything, and Ricky Davis is jealous of LeBron. They need to trade him tonight. They also need to get rid of D Miles because he fucking sucks dick. He may have a worse basketball IQ than anyone in the NBA.

K-Mart under-performing? I think not. I'm tired of hearing people say this. When the hell did 20 points, 10 boards, and nearly 2 blocks a game mean someone was under-performing. He has raised all of his stats each year in the league, this year included. I think people say that because he missed a week and a half because of an ankle sprain, and because the Nets are playing terrible, but he is not under-performing.

The only way a team in the east could possibly win a championship would be if the Lakers plane crashes on their way to a shitty eastern conference town.

NBA is really pathetic. It's quickly turning into my least favorite professional league. The games are boring, no one can hit a consistent jump shot and looking good playing is more important than winning.

Unless the Wizards are playing, I'd rather watch a college basketball game between schools I couldn't care about even if I knew where they were then any NBA game.

*mutters*Less then three months to spring training...less then three months to spring training...less then...

Yeah, I'd have to agree with Hrothgar, the NBA is turning to complete shhh. And yes, the East really is that bad. I mean, seriously... what's the point of even having a season this year? Clearly the NBA Title belongs to one of four teams this year... Lakers, Mavericks, or Spurs... maybe Kings. What do they all have in common? They are Western teams. I dunno but i've noticed that East basketball is more 'street-style' with emphasis placed on a single player, where in the West it's based around the whole team itself. Eh, who cares, the NHL is where the party is @.

There is a long way to go....

... but I don't see anyone rising in the East. Look for the team that plays good defense and has three or four scorers on the team (not max players or stars, but four solid options) to win the East. I think Detroit can still make some noise.

I agree that the East strugles to attract max free-agent type players, and has less star power per team. But I think one BIG problem in the East is that they are less dominant in the paint (pun intended). Quick - who is the best big man in the East? Ilgauskas? I think that alot of teams in the West have a nice inside presense that allows their guards better looks.

But, is the East really that bad? Probably, the numbers seem to back it up over the long run. But when the playoffs come, series are only determined by seven games. There is no reason to believe a team from the East can't get hot against the West to win it all.

I love the Pistons, but there is little worse than watching any basketball game between two eastern conference teams.

I love watching teams in the West, especially Dallas, Sacramento and the Lakers. The Sonics are fun too. The diffeence is even the bad Western teams are fun to watch, but a Knicks-Heat game makes you want to cry.

I am really starting to wonder if I am watching the NBA or the CBA. I just cant stand seeing these teams struggle to shoot the ball night in night out.

Rip Hamilton had 44 points the other night for the pistons, which is really exciting. If the pistons stay healthy this year, I think they have the best chance to do any damage to the west this year. We've played LA twice, and split so far.
