Blazers win!

After going on a 21-0 run in the third, the Portland Trail Blazers finally beat the Dallas Mavericks by a margin of 98-79. (http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/or...1213210082.xml ) Had they lost it would have tied to longest playoff losing streak in the history of the Big 4 sports. The Blazers lost the heartbreaking Game 7 of the 2000 West Finals vs. the Lakers, got swept by the Lakers in '01 and '02, and dropped their first three against Dallas this year. (Aside: I skipped school to get in line to buy tickets to Game 6 of the 2000 playoffs. It was good times but I had no idea it would be their last playoff victory in three years.) Now with three major players (Sabonis, Pippen and Anderson) the Blazers travel to American Airlines arena to play game five on Wednesday night? Can they win?

Pre-emptive strike: Yes we had multiple players pulled over for marijuana possesion. It is true that Patterson was punched in the face by a teammate. I do not deny that they are commonly referred to as the 'Jail Blazers.' If you mention the above, please make it relevant to the 'Can they win?' question at hand.

They'll be smoking weed soon. No chance to come back. Dallas is too good.

Anyone catch Rasheed's postgame comment? "Both teams played hard my man". I'm pretty sure he's already started smoking weed.

they'll lose.

it's the lakers we're talkin about

I don't think he ever stops smoking it. He might reach his full potential if he would just lay off that shit.

*BUMPS UP THREAD*

Wow, we really decimated the Mavs in Game 6 (and did alright in Game 5). Nowitsky was held to four points after having three double doubles in the series. With all this momentum, I really think the Blazers can win Game 7 and make history (though I wouldn't bet the farm, or even a cow, on it).

I guess I was just a little wrong. Maybe that's why they play the games.

If they can collectively keep their heads out of their asses, they can do it. But Portland isn't known for maintaining composure in the clutch.

Blazers win game 7, solely on Pippen's will

Halx 05-03-2003 11:28 PM

I expect a watchable game...
Dallas has become so boring lately because they are all offense and no D. It's common sports fan knowledge that the most exciting offensive plays come after great defensive stops. Mavs get none of that shit.

This being game 7, I expect a little better strategy from them besides "Shoot as many times as possible"

Either way, Sacto is gonna chew up the winner.

BulletBob 05-04-2003 12:57 AM

Halx, I must disagree. If Dallas wins they'll be killed by the Kings. If the Blazers win they'll have a poop load of momentum on their side, being the first team to come back from a 3-0 defecit and all that stuff. And that momentum could make for very interesting west bracket. Of course none of this matters if Dallas wins, tee hee!
