What College Football Team Has the Most Recognized Fightsong?
Posted in sports because i thought it was more appropriate than music forum.
But really who do you think has the most recognized song? I'm going to go with Notre Dame on this one because of the history of that program, it's probably the most famous college football team even if they do happen to suck this year. Opinions? |
Notre Dame.
There are a lot I recognize but never tell you who they belong to (a play a lot of NCAA Football). |
Florida State war chat - most recognized and the coolest EVER.
2nd - Texas Longhorns (The Eyes of Texas are upon you...) |
michigan's victory (i think thats what its called)
|
Notre Dame! Its the THE football song!
|
Michigan Hail to the Victors.
It is by far the best fight song out there. A war chant is not a song but something stupid and annoying like the Braves for baseball. I like tennessee's rocky top song very much also. Art |
Oklahoma for University of Oklahoma. How could you not know who that song is for?
ETA: and Boomer Sooner, of course, I'm sure all of the Texas fans recognize it |
For some reason I always get the Michigan and Notre Dame fight songs confused...
|
Notre Dame because they own a television network....
|
ND or Michigan.
|
Notre Dame.
Navy too, even non-football fans have heard "Anchors Aweigh". -Mikey |
Well, I got to go with that team from the north. Just one or two cords, and you know it's their crap.
Ohio State is very recognizable, ND, Tennesse, those are the only ones I can name off the top of my head (major colleges). |
I don't dislike Oklahoma, particularly, but, man, Boomer Sooner sure is annoying.
I'd go with Notre Dame's fight song. |

USC, simple, repetitive, dumb, but very recognizable.
|
Most Recognized= Notre Dame
My Favorite = Rocky top http://www.phillipfulmer.com/multime...o/RockyTop.mp3 |
easily Notre Dame it's been heard for years and appers in commercials, TV shows, and movies!!
|
Like when Leslie Nielsen gives Ted Striker the pep talk in Airplane.
"Win just one for the Zipper." -Mikey |
definetly good point out thanks
|
Norte Dame, Michigan, Tennessee, Texas, and Oklahoma/North Carolina (it's the same music) are pretty much a consensus top 5 in this department. I don't think I'd recognize Southern California's if I heard it.
|
1. Notre Dame.
2. Michigan. |
Florida State. The fight song mixed in with the chop is amazing.

The war chant isn't their fight song though. (It is damn cool though)
I'd go with Notre Dame as most recognizable. |
whenever i hear a college fight song, i can always sing along (or hum along, or whatever), but i never know where they're from!
|
Tennessee's - Rocky Top!!
GO VOLS!!! |
The Notre Dame Victory March.
Hail To the Victors. Across The Field. (can you tell im in a band?) And just for good measure... HAIL PURDUE! ~Fox |
Hail! To the victors, valiant,
Hail! To the conqu'ring heroes Hail! Hail! To Michigan the leaders and best. (Gives me goosebumps) Go blue! Beat the green this weekend!!! |
Cheer, cheer for Old Notre Dame
Wake up the echoes cheering her name, Send the volley cheer on high, Shake down the thunder from the sky, What tho the odds be great or small Old Notre Dame will win over all, While her loyal sons are marching Onward to Victory. Nothing beats that... |
Tennessee's Rocky Top
Anyone here not know it? |
ND - Hate it
Fight On... Trojans |
Either Notre Dame or Michigan
|
And I might add- just one more time, by the end of the year you will have the refrain of Boomer Sooner playin' over and over and over and over again in your head.
|
Stanford: "All Right Now" by Free.
|
Notre Dame because so many high schools use it for their own fight song. Almost everyone goes to high school, while a small percentage watch college football.
|
my vote goes to... Yale!!!
Oklahoma took their fight song "Boola Boola", kept the melody and changed the words to "Boomer Sooner"... and voila!... new fight song! |
Notre Dame, USC, Oklahoma (and yes it was stolen from Yale).
Texas (I've been working on the railroad..... :) |
FSU for sure
|
For me, it's Notre Dame, mostly because that was the fight song of my high school.
Might I add that Paul McCartney owns the rights to the ND fight song. |
ND
