Notre Dame : The most over-rated team?

It's amazing how over-rated they are even if they are not ranked.

They've been raped so many times that it's not funny.

Sat, Sep 6 Washington State W 29-26 --
Sat, Sep 13 at Michigan L 0-38 --
Sat, Sep 20 Michigan State L 16-22 --
Sat, Sep 27 at Purdue L 10-23 --
Sat, Oct 11 at Pittsburgh W 20-14 --
Sat, Oct 18 USC L 14-45

hopefully nbc wont renew the rights to broadcast carnage.

Thing is, they got one of the biggest fan bases, so even if they suck, I bet you people still tune in.

Plus some people probably tune in to watch the other team.

How can Notre Dame be the most overrated team when they aren't rated (ranked)?

Washington State is the most overrated team in the country - hell they actually lost to Notre Dame.

Kansas State is a close second - they are still in the rankings after losing to the only three real teams they've played - OSU, Texas, and Marshall.

The_Dude 10-18-2003 05:04 PM

well, did u see the spread vs USC? it was like 10 pts. to give notre dame a 10 pt spread against USC, it's being over rated.

AL9045 10-18-2003 05:33 PM

-_-.

Let's not starting stretching it...

BigGov 10-18-2003 08:57 PM

Count the number of ranked teams. At least they challenge themselves. They spoil a couple teams' seasons every year and they'll be guarenteed to receive a television contract, if not from NBC, from ABC, CBS, hell PBS, anyone.

It also helps that they can play absolutely incredible football at times. (IE: Almost every win last year, seeing as though it was come from behind, last second, HOLY COW! Football.)

So in other words, who gives a shit if they're over-rated? Texas has been overrated ever since I can remember because they keep choking in big games. And choking badly mind you. At least Notre Dame can make it interesting.

The_Dude 10-18-2003 09:03 PM

hey! we're still ranked and been going with 2-3 losses a year.

Averett 10-19-2003 12:34 PM

Notre Dame always has one of the toughest schedules in college football. Don't forget that ;)

Not on my list.

You keep mocking Kansas State, yet Texas is Kansas State except for the fact Texas does play a big name team, and gets killed in the process.

no, i dont mock kansas state. they're my #2 fav team since i lived in kansas. i do admit that they have a weak schedule. ksu did not play a big name team (non-conf) this year. they played USC last year.

and next year, texas plays ohio state for the 2nd game i think.

heccubusiv 10-19-2003 07:52 PM

one has to remember its hard to be good all the time with the four hardest scheadule in football. If they were in a confernce they would get the easy wins and a 45-14 loss is a lot better than a 65-13 loss. They only have 2 wins USC should have blown them out

The_Dude 10-19-2003 07:54 PM

they are not joining a conference cuz they want all the money for themselves. (one of the reasons why they shouldnt be gettin any bowls).

you cant use the hard schedule as an excuse for sucking so much. you have a new head coach and almost everyone know how sorry they are. still, they go and play punching bag to good teams.

cas305 10-20-2003 01:31 PM

Really remaining a Idependant probably costs them more money then it saves them because the rest of their sports programs don't gain any money. They say they haven't switched because of tradition, how much truth there is in that I don't know????

i thought they participated with the big east in other sports. (all except football)

phyzix525 10-20-2003 01:49 PM

Speaking of over-rated, anyone see the raping of Texas last week? OU made them look like the middale school for the blind.

AL9045 10-20-2003 02:13 PM

This may be the year Navy finally beats them. Navy has been pretty impressive so far. Go Navy! :D.

Actually, they gain a hell of a lot more money as an independant. They get millions upon millions from NBC. Having the football team just join a conference will automatically cause the team to lose money because of the TV contracts. The only way they don't lose money, is if the conference basically screws itself over with the hope that in the future they can make up the loss.

Besides, the amount of money their football team makes absolutely dwarfs that of all their other sports.

Manwich 10-20-2003 05:31 PM

If you look at their schedule it is tough. The only team they lost against that is overrated this year is Michigan.

Look at the whole Big East, ACC debacle. Miami and Virginia tech are claiming that they are losing money because they have to share it with perennial losers like Rutgers. The fact that I see at least 3 Notre Dame games a season plus that if they get even close to a winning season they are getting a bowl berth means that they are raking in the millions that they do not have to share among the conference.

Notre dame other sports continually suck, so they are willing to suck the Big East's teat for their share of the money.

ReggErving 10-22-2003 09:45 PM

ND has thehighest winning percentage among college football. This is something that could slip away this year to Michigan I think but are they overarted no way.

i'm not talking 'bout history.

i agree that notre dame was one of the best programs out there and fielded some good teams. right now, they suck and they are over rated.

petergriffin24 10-23-2003 10:32 AM

Yeah they need to get off NBC so they can start televising games that do matter to other people in the country!!
