Who will win a championship first?
A query of Futility, Folks
I voted for the 4th option. I'd bet that all 3 of the other choices will win a title before either the Browns or Bengals do.
Clippers. I think they have a good team in the making and there is hope.
The Clippers will win one first.
The Tigers and Cardinals are struggling to make ends meet. Cash-strapped franchises can never sustain a season-long run. |
clippers, they have a decent team, and they are young, so they can only get better.
The Tigers will be it. They have the only decent ownership and the only team that has a history of winning.
Illitch has proven that he will spend the money (ie the Red Wings) but the Tigers need to be closer to turning it around. The Cardinals have no chance because no one wants to play for them and they have no history of anything even when they were in St. Louis. Clippers same boat. They only got Brand and Maggette to stay because they matched offers and Donnie had to match. There is a minimum NBA salary cap and if Donnie had not matched he would not have made it. The Clippers have no history of doing anything either. Art |
I like the Tigers because Baseball has power shifting by decade (farm leagues). The Clips are good, but they'll never have what it takes. They'll always be second place in LA.
ok, so with my limited knowledge of baseball, and the small amount of research that i´ve just done. i´m going to have to go with Detroit.
theres just something about american sports teams that hail from that area that seem to be exciting to me. by that i mean that in the chicago/detroit area, there is or there has been great teams from all major sports. but thats only an impression i´ve gotten from brief sports segments in the media here. |
the only team i really know is the clippers, but they lost miller, kandi and odom, so i don't know how good they'll be this season. Especially with the array of strong teams in the west (lakers, wolves, spurs, mavericks, sacramento).....
I picked the fourth, just because the Tiger farm system sucks, since the team can't draft players that become anything. The Clip's will always be second fiddle in LA, and the Cards ownership can't draft the right players/players that play to potential.
Cardinals appear the be the underdog... and they truly suck... gotta go with them...
Clippers, they have a lot of young talent.
Tigers, because, as stated by others, the organization and farm system provide a deeper anchor for a franchise who has won it all before-'84-I think.

The Cardinals and the Clippers will both never win a title in my lifetime if the ownership and the owners mindset stays the same. They try to run their team as a business, that is, low payroll, very low payroll. The cheaper the better. The most profitable team in the NBA for the longest time has actually been the Clippers because they pay their players so little and rarely resign them. When they do resign players, they don't resign all of their players, so the potential playoff team is now a bottom barrell team again until the next year when they get another lottery pick and history continues to repeat itself.
The Cardinals just have horrible management. There's nothing else that can be said. The Tigers however hold one thing in their favor that the Clippers and Cardinals don't, the Tigers play baseball. Baseball is the one sport that can be truely won on a small market payroll, see Billy Beane and the Oakland A's for evidence. |
before the browns, maybe, but before the bengals, NEVER!
the almost beat a superbowl runner up last sunday... the only thing they REALLY have to work at now is removing the stigma from their name..... see what really happened was this: the coach picked amazing drafts, but told them to play very very poorly, so he kept getting more first rounds... and pretty soon hes gonna tell them to let loose boys, and boy will the bengals shine but seriously theyre not that bad |
