Anyone out there who fences?
I must know.
|
Hey, I have tried this before, and only had a couple responses. Hopefully more fencers will notice this time.
And yes, I fence, but you know that. |
*cry* We're such a lonely breed.
|
I've always been interested in fencing. How does one go about starting? Information such as equipment, training, cost would be much appreciated.
|
I used to fence, in HS. Gave it up in college.
Firebird, just check in the local yellow pages, usually there will be a club or two in the area. |
Will do, thanks a lot.

(digging this out of retirement)
i fence. in fact i just got my confirmation for the div2 north american cup in kansas city next month. too bad i broke my (fencing) wrist. i'll be out of it till next year |
Fenced in college, I was never really competative, but I enjoyed it. It's been years since I have, I actually got into it because some girl I met said she thought fencing was facinating and I told her I knew how. Went out the next day to start learning how. It never worked out with that girl, but I had fun fencing for the next few years.

I not only Fence, I run my college's fencing club.
|
Not anymore, I'm on probation.
|
I fenced a little back in College, but that was almost two decades ago. I still have my foil and mask though.
|
almost two years later, i still fence.
i still run my college club and we just finished hosting a collegiate team tournament this weekend. |
I fenced a little at the end of college. Of course that was 14 years ago......hadn't really realized just how old I was getting. For the most part I was limited to foil, but I did pick up the epee for a tournament when my college wanted a warm body. I actually held the weapon for the first time minutes before I advanced in the tournament. Maybe I should have stayed with it, but there was not much opportunity in med school.

Sorry, can't say that I fence, I'm too scared my ass might get scared (and I don't mean the emotion but getting cut). Just for those smartasses out there.
|
fencing is safer than most any other sport. the major injuries are repetitive stress injuries due to doing something incorrectly and it putting a strain on the body. you very rarely get any injury that will leave a scar (though i do have a few, i'll explain if you're interested). really, everything is engineered to be quite safe.
