Who is the best quarterback in the nfl

I'm going to say Mcnair all around mostly becauseof his toughness

The_Dude 08-20-2003 04:16 PM

if kurt warner plays like he did 2 yrs back, i'll go w/ warner.

jeff garcia is also pretty good.

spectre 08-20-2003 04:22 PM

Who will have the best numbers? Rich Gannon

Most talented? Michael Vick

gov135 08-20-2003 04:23 PM

Peyton Manning. He's just had no consistent running game since Edgerrin when down three seasons back.

Manning:
calls his own plays at the line, adjusting according to defenses
has all the physical tools

Excellent point. It's like Dan Marino, his arm has to make up for that lack of a running game in Indy.

Spartak 08-20-2003 05:43 PM

Garcia

Can throw if he needs to, can run if he needs to.

metrodub 08-20-2003 06:39 PM

Chad Hutchinson...errr Quincy Carter...errr

Ok, all joking aside...

When he's on...Kurt Warner.

I agree that Steve McNair is the total package though...he just doesn't have a consistent running game to help him out.

BigGov 08-20-2003 07:21 PM

Brett Farve

Best arm in the NFL, best improvisational skills in the NFL, incredible toughness (170 odd games in a row now), most MVP's, and often has had horrible/young receivers and an extremely sub-par running game.

After that:

2) McNabb - Great arm, great running skills (2nd best QB rusher behind Vick), incredible toughness (400 yards on a snapped ankle), has great knowledge of how to play, and has produced with absolutely zero supporting cast.

3) Manning - The best mentally in the NFL because of the audibles and such. Very accurate arm, and he has done well with very few options.

4) McNair - Great running, great toughness, just great overall and all around, but doesn't really stick out in one particular area.

5) Bledsoe - Great pocket QB, second in the league only to Manning, is great at leading a team.

rooster 08-20-2003 07:26 PM

here in rams country is and will be warner.

djtestudo 08-20-2003 09:24 PM

Brett Farve, and anyone who says differently either needs to visit Warner's home planet or Vick's leg doctor.

(Hey, I could've said Redman ;))

BadForm 08-20-2003 10:13 PM

Donavan McNabb - great runner and has a very nice touch on his passes.

Brett Farve has peaked and while still one of the best is no longer the best.

Plan9Senior 08-20-2003 11:29 PM

I am liking Garcia for this year. He already proven himself good, but I think he will put up some amazing numbers this season.

Mondak 08-21-2003 07:53 AM

Danny Wuerful!!!

Bwah ha ha ha!

McNabb is an animal.

crow_daw 08-24-2003 08:39 AM

Well I'll be damned, all of the guys I was gonna say were covered in the first three posts.
Best, toughest all-around SOB out there is Steve McNair, no doubt.
And I agree Gannon will have the best numbers.
And Michael Vick is a phenom.

Begora21 08-24-2003 10:25 AM

It's got to be McNabb ... all facets of his game are above average ... I can't stand Warner, he's a complete flash-in-the-pan

dragon2fire 08-24-2003 03:52 PM

its a close one but i have to say farve then manning

jfranco13 08-24-2003 06:23 PM

I think Favre has a good argument, but we'll have to see this year if he's still in his prime. It's tough to say Manning, because he's just so immobile. If Vick were more accurate, or if he had more experience, he could be the pick. For now, I'll probably take McNabb.

dtheriault 08-25-2003 06:41 AM

here's how i answer this. who do i want to have the ball to win a super bowl.

1. farve
2. mcnabb
3. if i'm desperate and need an 80 yard touchdown with one second left: vick

lions20 08-25-2003 12:22 PM

I think Donovan Mcnabb is the best. He is an accurate passer who does not make many mistakes and he can also beat you with the run.

AL9045 08-25-2003 12:24 PM

The running/pass quarterbacks are starting to get most of the spotlight.

If Culpepper can have a good season this year, I think he'll be very dominant.

BigGov 08-25-2003 12:53 PM

Culpepper can't be the best QB for one obvious reason.

He fumbles, and fumbles, and fumbles, and fumbles, and fumbles...

Reddevil63 08-25-2003 01:17 PM

I think Mcnabb should have had the Eagles in the super bowl the past 2 years so I am not to big on him. I am going to have to go with McNair also. There is alot more to football than pure talent, heart goes along way and I think Mcnair has one of if not the biggest in the league.

cheesemoney 08-27-2003 04:49 PM

You're telling me you'd rather have McNair than McNabb?
Hmm... I dunno. I'd take either. As a Bronco fan, I'm not totally sold on Jake the Snake. Bronco's shoulda traded up 2 spots and picked Boller.
Cheese

lions20 08-28-2003 06:45 AM

I think Plummer is one o fthe most over-rated QBS in the league. Most sportscasters praise the Broncos for picking him up but I think he blows. Maybe it was because he played for Arizona for so long. He seems to turn the ball over too much. I guess we will find out who the real Jake Plummer is in the next year or two.

absorbentishe 08-28-2003 07:04 AM

McNabb, former 'Cuse man!! Can beat you more than one way.
Followed by Farve, can anyone match him?
McNair for his durability, that guy is great, esp. when he needs to be.
Manning, Gannon, Garcia.
I can't narrow it down to just one though, they all rock in their own way, and can take total control of a game.

guthmund 08-28-2003 08:54 PM

Although I could make arguments for Gannon, I've seen him get too mad and just self-destruct needlessly.

Overall, I would have to go with Farve. He's a "hoss."

He doesn't have to be mobile, because he's so damn accurate and quick to throw. Green Bay is always a contender and it's because of Farve and his ability to get shit done.

teflonian 08-28-2003 09:13 PM

I would have to vote for Manning though I am a 49er fan and would like to vote for Garcia. There is just something about Manning that makes him exciting to watch and that counts for a lot in my book.

goof7ball 08-29-2003 08:15 AM

Also being a Niner fan I can't believe what I'm about to say:

Favre and Warner (when his fingers aren't broken).

Favre because no matter how sacked his ass is (except against Strahan) he always manages to %#$!@# complete the pass for a first #@!$!@$ down. Linemen (sp??) have him wrapped up around the ankles, he falling over, instant replay shows that his knees and elbows were an inch off the ground when released the ball and then somebody @$%@$% catches it! Fuck I hate that guy!!!

Same goes for Warner (again, when he's healthy) except that he'll be standing in the middle of a collapsing pocket and an instant before he disappears into a massive dogpile he chucks the ball 40 yards downfield into double coverage and completes the pass. I hear the old song in my head 'over the river and through the woods' except that it is 'over the d-line, and through the their hands, to big house we go!" Man I hate that guy too!!

soxsfans 09-02-2003 01:28 PM

Peyton Manning

Fantasma 09-02-2003 01:35 PM

Donovan McNabb, definitely

Sen 09-02-2003 08:58 PM

It's interesting that Trent Green hasn't been mentioned once, even in the multiple QB posts. Not that he would be my pick, but he did lead the highest scoring offense last season.

That being said, If I had to have one guy on my team, I'd go for Mike Vick.

djtestudo 09-02-2003 09:01 PM

No...Priest Holmes led that offense ;)

Zesty 09-03-2003 06:52 AM

Peyton Manning
the three- time pro bowler is a pillar of consistency, passing 4000+ yards for an NFL record consecutive season last year. He also never missed a start in his career. He got everthing execpt a super bowl ring.

Midlandmadman 09-03-2003 07:29 AM

which team did Trent Green QB last year ???I think.... Kansas City??? He was my fantasy football QB last year and put up great #'s

HeAtHeN 09-03-2003 09:16 AM

I'll say Garcia.... as he used to play for the Stampeders. :D

But most talented is Vick....

wherearemypants 09-03-2003 09:28 AM

I don't see how so few people have said Donovan McNabb. He's playing on a team without any decent recievers, and he still gets great passing numbers and also runs as well as any QB out there except vick (although I bet McNabb is faster right now).
