Oh, the Big 10 isn't even close to the level of the Big 12. I just wanted to show that my Big 10 is even better than the crappy SEC.

AlphaFox830 08-03-2003 09:17 AM

Where the big ten at on your list? Oh yeah there on there[your adjusted list] , even illinois who still sucks after loosing kitner, and brandon loydd.

TheJeff 08-03-2003 03:31 PM

No Maryland? You're on crack. Yeah, we lost EJ, but we return 9 defensive starters. And we have a top-notch secondary. On O we have a returning QB and RB for the first of the Fridge's tenure. Not to mention top 10 (maybe even top 5) KR in Steve Suter and K in Nick Novak.

And Ga Tech? For God's sake, they may not even be able to field a team because they've had so many guys declared inelgible.

o god how it pains me to say this

big 12 best foot ball conferance

and i dont like the big 12 as a rule

08-04-2003 09:15 PM

Big 10, baby.

WOLVERINES!

Artermis 08-05-2003 06:22 AM

You got Illinois as #9 and that is a good guess as to where they will finish in the Big Ten.

That is about the most pathetic attempt at homerism that I have ever seen. Big Ten is the best conference year in and year out. Big 12 is going to be challenging the Big Ten for that title this year, as they are stacked.

When was the last time SEC won the National Championship or better yet when was the last time they played for one?

Pac 10 has a better conference this year ASU is way underrated.

Big 10 (because they got the defending champs and I would compare OSU, Michigan and Purdue against Texas, OU and KSU).
Big 12 very close
Pac 10 a conference on the rise.
Sec if tennessee comes back for a big year. Auburn is awesome.
ACC VA and NCstate are very good.
Big East.

the rest.

when was the last time the SEC won a national championship?\

that would be 1998, Tennessee beats FSU. thanks. and the sec has had a team in a BCS bowl every year since its inception.

i believe every year after that, until last year, was dominated by either the big east or big 12 (miami and oklahoma respectively). osu had a nice run last year, but will not repeat. and they are the big 10's best team. big 10 is a medicore conference, at best.

Artermis 08-05-2003 09:11 AM

LMAO medicore.....

Big Tem went 6-2 in bowls last year and I know a couple of the wins were against SEC teams.

Bigold I did not say when was the last year a SEC was in the BCS because if you knew anything you would know that all the conferences I mentioned get a slot in the BCS . So being in the BCS alone is not really worth mentioning.

Hmm every year dominated by the Big East or Big 12? Umm where is the SEC in that....

Btw you are wrong.

Tennessee won in 1998
FSU won in 1999
Oklahoma in 2000
Miami in 2001
OSU in 2002

Hmm looks to me like every conference but the Pac 10 has won the BCS title.

Do me a favor and at least look up information before you reply to stuff. It makes you look less foolish.

I am going to change my conference power ranks a little:

Big Ten
Big 12
SEC
Big East I forgot about Pitt when I did this...a big three of Pitt, VT and Miami is a nice little trifecta.
Pac 10 USC is overrated.
ACC

In 1998 the break down for conferences in the BCS is:
SEC, ACC, Big 12 (not Oklahoma) all had 3, Pac 10 and Big Ten had 2, Big East had 1 (not Miami) and Tulane.

In 1999 it break down like this:
Big Ten had 5 teams, SEC and Big 12 (no Oklahoma) had 3, ACC and Big East (no Miami) had 1 each and Marshall. Pac 10 had none.

In 2001 it break down like this:
SEC, Big 12 and Pac 10 each had 4 with the Big 10, Big East and ACC one each.

In 2002 the break down for conferences was like this:
The Big Ten and Big 12 having 4 each, 2 each from PAC 10 and the Big East and one from the ACC, SEC and one independent.

So if we are keeping count for total appearances by conference it breaks down like this:
Big 12 had 14
Big 10 had 12
SEC had 11
PAC 10 had 7
ACC had 6
Big East had 4

From this prespective the Big 12 and Big 10 are 1-2 with the SEC a close third and then the rest.

BTW Miami and Oklahoma were not even in the first 2 years of the top 15 so there goes the fact that they dominated.

Thanks

sportsrule101 08-05-2003 12:37 PM

thanks art for giving some facts instead of hersay

/still laughing about how the sec has had a team in the bcs every year.

bigoldalphamale 08-06-2003 10:51 AM

i can see how my reply looked retarded. i usually post from work and sometimes dont have time to go back and edit to make sure they make perfect sense for guys like you and sportsrule101. my apologies. so let me clarify. i was responding to your question about the last time the SEC won a national championship. i told you 1998. wrong? no. foolish? no. hearsay? hardly.
i also told you that the SEC has had a team in the BCS every year since inception...as opposed to conference USA having a team in every year, or the MAC having a team in every year. wrong? no. foolish? no. hearsay? probably not.
i left out an acc team in my statement that the championships have been dominated by certain conferences. my bad man. seriously, i didnt mean to offend the bredth of your sports knowledge. everyone is now aware that you are quite possibly, the smartest sports fan EVER!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this thread was just about some good old trash talking. not a fact finding mission. so take your orioles fan with you and troll somewhere else with your extensive, and meaningless, plethora of facts. thanks again!

BigGov 08-06-2003 10:58 AM

Last time I heard, isn't the SEC champion GUARENTEED a BCS bowl bid?

TheJeff 08-06-2003 11:17 AM

All 6 major conferences are.

Artermis 08-06-2003 01:45 PM

I never said anything about being in the BCS every year.

I asked when was the last time a SEC team was playing for one.

98 was Tenn vs FSU
99 was FSU vs VT
00 was Okla vs FSU
01 was Miami vs Neb
02 was OSU vs Miami

So from what I can see in the years that the BCS has been around...they have been in 1 NC game. ACC and Big East 3 each, Big 12 in 2 and Big Ten in 1.

Funny I am at work also but I try to make it seem like I know what I am talking about when I post and not just be a homer and spout off stuff without being able to back it up.

Homerism is great but at least back up what you.

I do my trash talking with facts....not saying stuff just for the sake of posting something.

Artermis 08-06-2003 01:48 PM

BTW Jeff

Big Ten, Big 12, ACC, SEC, Big East and Pac 10. Plus ND gets an automatic bid if they meet certain requirements.

Thanks
