So...The New York Yankees are my favorite team, my earliest memory of the team was watching Mr. October in the World Series, I was pretty young at the time, and I can remember my father telling me that we were watching baseball history. To this day I've been a hard core Yankees fan. So this thread will be specifically designed to talk about Yakees history, memories, last nights game, players ...whatever....I'll start it off...Hideki!!!! A fine addition to the ol' Bronx Bombers.

The news about the Steinbrenner-Torre-Contreras thing is killing me... I can't believe this situation. I bleed Yankee Blue, have the Tiffany-designed "NY" tattooed on my left arm, but this makes me sick. I have to love The Boss, he built this team into what it was. But sometimes I wish he'd leave it alone for a while.

yankees will not be stopped. after this season, our starting 5 will take all comers in the nba playoffs.

As much as I hate the thought of money controlling the outcome of games..I wonder from time to time. Being a Yankee fan, I would say it would be most upsetting, we've got a great lineup this year...WTF is up with the Giants! They're tearin' it up?!?! Scary....

So why'd ya say it? Anyway, we just got done stomping the Twins for the second year in a row...they've got nothing on us...Did anybody see Soriano's grand slam yesterday...He's our 50-50 man this year...I can feel it!

I am proud to be a Yankees fan for the last 24 years and I've heard and understood all of the criticism about the payroll and the alleged unfair advantage it gives them.

Yes, it puts them in the position to win, but as the last 2 years have shown, it doesn't guarantee a title. NY obviously has an advantage that a team like Cincinnati doesn't enjoy, but they still have to perform.

Market size obviously doesn't dictate success. The last time I checked, Detroit was a pretty large town. Granted, it isn't the big apple, but I heard Detroit has a few street lights and a 7-11, they can afford to spend a bit more.
