pmb145 04-16-2007 05:07 PM

As it stands.. the Bulls are going to have to beat the Wizards and Toronto/New Jersey.... before they have to face the Pistons/Cavs/Miami in the conference finals. Looks like a relatively easy road for them.

pmb145 04-17-2007 06:26 PM

I will be so happy when we make it to page four and I won't have to see Shawn Livingston's knee anymore when I come to this page.

Halx 04-17-2007 07:39 PM

Aint that the truth.

powerclown 04-18-2007 03:27 PM

Livingston...that poor guy with his 3d-knee. Get well soon, dude...geez.
Im glad Detroit is in the East. I think we'll be seeing them very possibly in the Finals again, 5th straight year as Conference champs. My favorite Piston right now is Antonio McDyess. This guy has been through the wars with Detroit and he is lookin HUNGRY. Brings it every night. Still a bit soft in the middle methinks, but fingers crossed on the shiny new, webber-enhanced offensive execution. Oh yeah, you know things are strange when even 64-year league vet, and piston back-up pointguard lindsey freaking hunter is playing well lol.

pacaveli 04-18-2007 07:33 PM

i actually think that the bulls or raptors are gonna get the finals from the east this year, but don't quote me,

raps are my sleeper pick

powerclown 04-19-2007 05:33 PM

Maybe the Bulls...maybe, lol. Toronto has a few decent shooters and that CB4 maniac, but I think the Toronto-Chicago series is going to be great IF the Bulls escape Miami, another great series. Be nice to have another series as good as PHX-LAL last year.
Uh, thugs...leave Flip Murray alone please.

powerclown 04-30-2007 01:51 PM

Anybody see or have video of nash last nite jumping up and karate-kicking kobe straight in the balls for a layup? full speed into kobe and kicked him out of the way. Is that even legal?..lol. And, who is this matt barnes-mofro knocking down a 3 with 30 secs left and why are the warriors playing out of their freaking minds?

can lebron sweep?

pacaveli 04-30-2007 05:15 PM

if lebron doesn't sweep i sersiously hope he wasn't playing

My bad. :splat: And agreed about the Wizards...dead in the water.

Halx 05-03-2007 07:00 PM

This warriors/mavs game 6 is some good fun

powerclown 05-03-2007 07:16 PM

Wow...big break for the Mavs with Baron Davis hurt.

Halx 05-03-2007 07:39 PM

Davis isn't giving up. He's gonna keep shooting until he's dead.

powerclown 05-03-2007 08:04 PM

LOL...it looks that way. Warriors leading at the half. Incredible.
Do we still go with Dirk for MVP after this series?

Halx 05-03-2007 08:26 PM

The warriors are just throwing the mavs into shell shock.

powerclown 05-03-2007 08:47 PM

Not out of the woods yet. Dallas can come back from this.

Entire city of Dallas, Texas said to be on suicide watch for the next 48 hours.
I can't believe what just happened.

pmb145 05-06-2007 04:26 PM

Even though I'm a Piston's fan, I hope we dont' get another Pistons/Spurs finals. I think the Sun or Warriors /Pistons would be more fun to watch.

Kadath 05-08-2007 06:40 PM

Man, New Jersey has no heart. The Cavs shot like garbage and still won.

I'm a Cavs fan, and even so I'm pretty tired of the announcers fellating Lebron.

powerclown 05-10-2007 09:15 AM

Do or die for Chicago tonight. I'll be shocked if they lose by 20 again...Im already shocked they've played so meekly thus far. The Pistons melted down this exact time last year, although now they don't have the injuries or internal bitching they had then. Not sure what NJs problem is...with their talent and experience, they should be giving the Cavs more of a fight. Great game in Utah last night...that series has been a dogfight thanks to the Warriors. As good as the Suns are, no way are they getting past San Antonio.

Craven Morehead 05-10-2007 09:19 PM

What a terrible second half for the Bulls. After an incredible first half. The Bulls are done. No way to get back in this. Pistons have their number now. Going to be a long and ugly off season for the Bulls.

And the pisser is, I've got tickets to Game 6 in Chicago. Or not.

powerclown 05-12-2007 08:37 PM

Too bad about the tickets...but who saw this coming from the Bulls? So now they must be completely shot after being up 20 in the 3rd. Ok, Detroit has played great defense throughout, but Chicago has played so poorly I feel bad for them. I was expecting this series to be total war - a culmination of 3 years of bad blood, plus the Ben Wallace trade - but nobody on the Bulls has yet scored over 20 points in 3 games.

Go BULLS!!!

Kadath 05-16-2007 04:29 AM

Congrats on getting to use your tickets, Craven. I hope the Bulls take it all the way. The "no team has gone down 0-3 and come back" record has to fall sometime; it did in baseball.

powerclown 05-17-2007 09:46 PM

Good game, Chicago Bulls. You have a very, very bright future. We won't be able to hang with you for many more years with our current lineup. Keep and develop Tyrus Thomas...don't let him get away like you did Elton Brand, Ron Artest and Tyson Chandler. The Suns got jacked in the arse on Wed, too. Horrible, horrible call, David Stern.

Craven Morehead 05-18-2007 05:45 AM

Not feeling too badly this morning. The best team won. The Bulls played one good quarter, that's all. They are one really good player away from being 'there' where ever that is. At times in the 2nd quarter they looked so good, I love their passing game. And they play defense with a lot of energy but they couldn't sustain that for a full game. It was fun at the UC last night. Tons of atmosphere. It was a fun night, that could have ended better but didn't.

powerclown 05-18-2007 10:14 AM

Looked like a good time. The crowd seemed totally nuts for a while there.

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Hu5N-1kVUB0"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Hu5N-1kVUB0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

Imagine being married to this.
"Honey, did Nash look shaky to you on defense tonight?"

Kadath 05-21-2007 05:50 AM

So let's all wait for about a week until the inevitable Spurs/Pistons final. Depressing. I hope the Cavs can take two.

powerclown 05-21-2007 08:09 AM

No offense but off the top off my head I can't think of a more boring team to watch than the Cavs. They were unwatchable in the Nets series (so were the Nets)...they scored 8 freaking points in an entire quarter last game. They have that funny looking brazilian clown with the jerry curls, Z always looks like he's on a heroin bender, and Drew Gooden has a tribble growing out the back of his neck. And is there a whiter crowd in the NBA? Is every game in Cleveland Amish appreciation night? Cleveland has 2 watchable players: LeBron and Larry Hughes. Most of the time they're bricking jump shots. Detroit actually plays somewhat creatively in the half-court. I pray it doesn't go any further than 4, if only to avoid injury.

Kadath 05-21-2007 10:23 AM

So (if I might sum up) you don't like the way the Cavs players look? Are you watching the game for the game or looking for a potential boyfriend? No offense, of course.

powerclown 05-21-2007 11:18 AM

If I was looking for someone in the fruit-loop troop, you'd be first on my list sugar britches.

Kadath 05-21-2007 02:22 PM

I'm flattered, but spoken for. I do know some nice boys who might go for you when you do come out of the closet. By the way, that's a really beautiful city you've got there, pride of the nation.

Ok, Cleveland played pretty good defense...they probably should have won the game on that 3. We got lucky.
Oh and apart from being the most boring team in the NBA, Cleveland may also be the ugliest. Donyell is so ugly that when he entered an ugly contest, the jugde said no professionals please. HeHe!

Kadath 05-23-2007 06:18 AM

powerclown, I was being a jerk. I apologize. Let's ditch this whole "You're gay" "No, you are!" thing, hey?

I feel like all the complaints that the Cavs are boring to watch has to do with the fact that they are tenacious on defense and deliberate on offense. They don't just huck the ball down the court and go for the jam, they take their time and pick their shots. That bad news about that strategy is it means they can lose on a bad three like they did Monday. I feel like LeBron's low scoring is not really encouraging or discouraging; at the end of the day it's all about who got the W. But I think the Cavs lost the game for one reason: garbage free throw shooting.

Kadath 05-25-2007 04:57 AM

Ugh, depressed. The Cavs are taking garbage shots and missing them. I know LeBron got fouled at the end, but they shouldn't have let it come to that.

powerclown 05-25-2007 07:52 AM

No problem Kadath...sorry.

The Cavs haven't been anymore boring to watch this series than the Pistons. Its back to the old trench warfare style of play, nothing flowing, nobody in rhythm, poor shooting, constant whistles. I just think its the matchup...this is how these 2 teams play eachother.

I agree whole heartedly. Taking a 12 point lead into halftime, going in getting your cookies and milk and taking a nap on your own mat, some may have colored and when they went out to the court, for the start of the second half, they seemed they were worried more someone may have seen they colored outside the linesthan winning the game...

You're up by 12 points and you come out and your first 7 possessions are 5 long shots that turn to bricks and lost possessions and 2 outright turnovers.... and you WANT to win??????? This team destroyed themselves, the Pistons didn't beat the Cavs, the refs didn't beat the Cavs.... THE CAVS BEAT THE CAVS with stupid play and no killer instinct.

The Cavs are a good defensive team and deserve where they are (Eastern Conference Finals), but they are a stupid team that will not be able to reach the next plateau unless they learn how to maintain the lead and develop a killer instinct, not just one where they are trying to hold a lead but one where they want to crush the opponent and not even give a chance for them to come back from a 12 point deficit.

All the Cavs needed was to win 1 in Detroit.... that's it just 1 and take it to Cleveland and rack up a 3-1 lead..... now they are deficit playing and Detroit IS a championship team and WILL go for the kill.

pan6467 05-29-2007 09:05 PM

hmmmmmm Them Detroit people are mighty quiet.........

Kadath 05-30-2007 03:57 AM

You really going to brag, pan? This is a very close matchup. It's who gets the lucky breaks that wins this series. We could be singing a different song in a few days.

In my opinion Chauncey Billups should be feeling pretty low right about now. He had some big mistakes in the last few minutes. That's what made the difference here.

powerclown 05-30-2007 05:04 PM

I'm sick and tired of how Detroit is playing right now.
Lazy fuckers just refuse to play the game for 4 quarters. And Chris Webber is doing exactly nothing this entire ECFs.
I seriously hope Detroit loses in 6...I'm sick of watching them play 46.5 minutes of garbage every night.
Props to LeBron James. The sickest thing is that this is a 22 year old kid.
The last Utah/SA game was awesome. Very, very entertaining game.

It's possible, but the Cavs showed something the last 2 games that I bitched about them not having the first 2 games...... the killer instinct... go in for the kill, play to win..... if you go in with a 12 point lead at halftime, play to protect that lead.... Detroit scores 2 you put the 2 back on the board and kill time as you do it. Detroit sinks a 3 pointer, you go in and fight to sink one or make get the 3 point foul.

You don't sit there and throw 5 bricks and allow 2 steals and in 7 uncontested possession losses give up those unanswered points and expect to win.

The Cavs are showing the first 2 games they fucked up and miscalculated.... now they have a chance to correct things.

Even if they lose the series.... the last 2 games showed they can have what it takes, they just need to have it with a consistancy and the ego of "you have to beat us, we won't beat ourselves anymore."

ONETIME 05-31-2007 12:48 PM

man o man i hope the cavs win. I'm already disappointed at the western outcome.

lets go cavs

Kadath 05-31-2007 07:38 PM

I want to go to sleep! What is this double OT horseshit?!

Edit: And now I can, and sleep easy. That is rising up and carrying the team on your shoulders. LeBron has the chops.

WHOOP THERE IT IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALS BABY

Kadath 06-03-2007 04:19 AM

So what do you think, are people going to change their tune and say the Cavs aren't serious underdogs in this series?

The Cavs will have to play aggressive and like they did in Games 4 and 5 EVERY game to win the series. It can be done but they'll need to focus and not rely on just LeBron.

powerclown 06-03-2007 04:31 PM

The problem is that the Spurs have more depth and talent at every position and I don't think they're going to let Boobie bomb 3s all night like the Pistons did. Ginobili is playing out of his gourd right now, and the Spurs as a team - unlike the Pistons - are extremely motivated. Let's face it: the Cavs aren't even as good as the Jazz, so LeBron is going to need multiple 50-60 point games for the Cavs to last even 5 games. Hide the women and children - its gonna be a bloodbath!

Seriously though, props to Cleveland for getting it done, and for an absolutely amazing and unforgettable game 5 performance from the King. Get that man some help STAT!

ARauckhorst 06-05-2007 07:34 PM

I think the cavs have a chance. The Piston's zone forced the outside shot; a man-to-man will allow Lebron to really shine.

just my two cents.

like ive constantly said... im a spurs man through and through.

i dont see the cavs coming even close. duncan may e boring, but hes got a few good guys round him..bowen, gino, horry to name a few. not just a one man show.

dlish 06-16-2007 09:53 AM

SPURS win their 4th championship. it may not be the razzle dazzle of the Lakers or Bulls..but they do their job well.. a record 16-6 in this playoff is a record....

shall we deny them the honour of being the best team in the past decade?

powerclown 06-17-2007 09:37 AM

Yep, the Spurs are easily the best team in the last decade...and it looks like they'll be the best team for years to come. And how cold-blooded was it for SA to complete the sweep in Cleveland and celebrate in front of all those people? They are a scary, scary team. Dallas isn't going anywhere with Dirk and his sandy-blonde vagina. Cavs obviously aren't going anywhere with a 1-man team. Send Dirk to the Cavs for the entire Cavs team minus LeBron, and $100 million. Detroit needs a personnel enema and a new coach. Phoenix is for SportsCenter. Chicago is a player away from Big Things. I hope to christ that Garnett lands in Laker purple for 08. Not Stern's finest playoffs these.

Cross-Over 06-30-2007 07:19 AM

The Spurs are indeed a great team, and I enjoy watching them play. They were a very good team in 2006 too, but lost to a tough Mavericks team despite being up three with 30 seconds left in game 7. Honestly, I think Dallas could have beat the Spurs in the playoffs again. Dallas improved and their regular season record was indicative of their ability, there are no smoke and mirrors for an 82 game season. I truly just believe it is a rare thing in sports where a team just does not match up well. With Dallas, Golden State initially gave them problems and then squashed their confidence in Oakland.

In 2004, S.A. was up 2 games to 0 against the Lakers and had beaten the Lakers in 6 the previous year on their way to a title. I was sure the Lakers were done, but they rattled off a mind boggling 4 in a row against the Champs. The playoffs are unpredictable.

My favorite memory of the Spurs dynasty was their dismantling of the 2005 Suns. Amare was pre-injury and dominating offensively, but the Spurs were able to play at the Suns' pace and just put down the clamps late in games. In addition to defensive prowess late in games, Ginobili would drive right at the rim and scored over Amare repeatedly.
