Buckeye fans are noticably absent tonight...............
|
I for one Buckeye fan here in the heart of Gatorland express my sincere appreciation to the Florida Gators and to the SEC for being a superior team and a superior conference that was generally dissed by the BCS fiasco....
Congratulations to the Florida "National Champion" Gators... :( |
The first 16 seconds looked pretty good for OSU, the other 59:44 was all Florida. Ohio State just didn't show up and wasn't in the game.
|
just proves Big 10 football is a joke. Who's for a USC - Florida Game?? haha
|
OSU didn't even try...
|
Being the conspiracist and ex-gambler I am..... Let's look at the game...
1) Tressel gets to throw out his contract if OSU wins the National Championship..... that would make his salary skyrocket OR worse yet, he'd go to the pros or another college.... He would be able to name his price.... 2) Ginn goes down with an ankle injury? 3) Troy Smith plays like a high schooler, he shows none of the skills that won him the Heisman. 4) The O-Line basically just laid down. 5) The Defense played prevent till the score was out of range.... it was like "Ok, give them 5 yards a play, just don't let them get behind you." I thought Tressel was smarter than that. 6) Someone made HUGE ASS MONEY on this game..... throwing a few key players the millions they may miss because they get drafted lower (that would also be split with agents, taxed and so on) may not be as hard as you think. Take Troy Smith for instance..... he plays like shit, throws incompletes and just lays down (which is pretty much what he did)..... sure he gets drafted later and loses say $5-10 million, but his agent would have gotten a piece of that, state, local, and Fed would have gotten some.... so, you pay him $5Mil, tell him to take the dive. He gets tax free, agent free money and he goes pro plays like a superstar and makes up for the loss come contract time. (The O-Line, Defense, and so on.... works the same for each of them.) 7) Let's say I know I have the Buckeyes fixed.... I pay the right FLA people to let the Bucks get the ball first and run it back on the kickoff..... then I bet that..... I make even more big bucks. 8) Who's going to talk? Let's just say I sent a signal by knocking off a college kicker and an NFL player in the same week. The above I know couldn't possibly happen, but let me live in my conspiracy world.... I'd rather face that and look like a nut then admit OSU and the Big Ten truly suck big time. Plus, how do you prove me wrong? |
I'm going to send that list to the big OSU fan where I work, if he comes in tomorrow.
|
I just can't believe that OSU sucked that badly.
Congrats to the Florida Gators and Urban Meyer. |
I can't help but chuckle every time I see this headline on SI.com: Heavy underdog Florida annihilates Ohio State 41-14
There's just something funny about the word annihilates... I'm not a football coach, but OSU's defensive coordinator should be slapped over the head for his inability to recognize the fact that Florida was simply throwing underneath the zone coverage. Zone coverages usually leave gaping holes in the middle of field; Florida simply found those holes and exploited the hell out of them. What surprised me the most was that OSU didn't change to a 4-3 defense (They instead chose to continue to rush three or four linebackers and drop back into zone coverage) after falling behind 21-7. |
Well, congrats to Florida - Urban Meyer is an excellent coach and the team did its job.
Amazing how many people supposedly supporting Florida never said a word - until today! I think that's called "bandwagon jumping". :) |
I hate both schools equally so it was hard for me to even watch the game. I did however find myself wondering what all the OSU fans in this thread would be saying.
Pan.. are you serious?? Just give the credit where it's due. Smith is a heisman winner.. we all know how heisman winners turn out.. losers. While I'm sure there is plenty of money to be made in a game like this, I find it difficult to believe that you truly support a school that would engage in this or believe some conspiracy occured. When my team loses I just accept the loss and give the credit to the better team that day. It's not a difficult concept. The fact of this game is that OSU was flat and on their heels, had no defensive strategy, while the gators (god I hate them) put together a winning strategy that made OSU look like pop warner ballers. I think if there was a playoff system in place OSU wouldn't have even made it to the championship game to begin with, so if nothing else, at least be glad they had a shot at it. |
I hope that we can now all put aside our differences and realize that the Big 10 really shit the bed this year. And that we can now all acknowledge that the SEC really is the best conference in college football.
|
Hmmm..... Maybe Tressel will vote for Michigan next time!
Congrats, Florida! |
As an Ohio State fan, I must say that the Buckeyes were completely and thotoughly outclassed last night. I was worried about this game from the time it was announced, and I guess rightfully so. Congratulations to the Florida Gators.
OSU's defensive coordinator, Jim Heacock, coached like his brother from little Muskingum College last night: Overwhelmed, deer in the headlights fear, and without a clue. |

It's bullshit rationalization..... but it's mine and helps me through the day....:p (Besides, who but the Pan could have come up with this list and made it sound somewhat possible..... so fast  ...... ah the mind of a conspiracist paranoidal ex gambling nut.....:D ) Tried to get in all the emotes I could also.... |

In fact Jazz, I wonder if YOU maybe one of THEM since you seem to know so much about well you know and aren't afraid to post all the details..... :hmm: But that's ok..... I have my trusty cork vest on, my wooden shoes and my wax coated tinfoil hat on (see that's where people make the mistake, they need to wax the tinfoil..... those that don't aren't playing with a full deck and are into the conspiracy the media wants you to follow instead of the true one) ...... that only the very select few of us know about. We use Bellevue as our meeting place and have conventions at St Aquinas Mental Health Clinic.... I've said too much.... good day. The ramblings are those of a mad man and not to be believed....... management wishes you to ignore this post and realize that the views expressed by nutcases are NOT representative of management, this poster, this forum, the mods, the owner, the server, the whole world wide web, Bill Gates, Microsoft, the manufacturer of the computer used, the internet provider, the government or views, you the reader, have or believe in any in way...... go about your day and forget you ever saw this......it doesn't exist. |
Thanks for the good laugh this morning, Pan. I needed it. I'm still giggling.
|
OK, finally time for a little gloating.
Pan, we kicked your teams ASS. :) guccilvr - you too. :) I was just re-reading all your smack talk through this thread and you guys must be absolutlely sick after seeing your offense get suffocated by the Gators. I have to think the criticism that the writers are giving everyone involved would be worse than anything I could say. But.........(I couldn't say nothing) :) : Wonder why Urban Meyer lobbied so hard for his team to there? ANS. He knew how good his team was. (He coached at OSU, he knew he could beat them). All the other coaches are drinking the Big 10 kool-aid. He had to state his case as best he could. His kids deserved nothing less. Maybe Tressel knew too? Speaking of Tressel-his team deserved to be more prepared. For you guys who haven't watched every game I will tell you, the Gators did nothing different to OSU that they haven't done to everyone else all year. Spread offense, option, motion, reverses, be prepared, take what the defense gives you. Those are not gimmick plays, that is the offense. And unlike Boise State, the linemen are 6-4, 325 and the backs all run 4.4 forties. The whole Leak, Tebow platooning thing is a masterstroke. Meyer uses them like a two-headed monster, letting them both do what they do best. Tressel and his staff had 51 days to prepare. But I think they were too cocky to admit that anybody could play with them. Troy Smith deserved better. Tressel probably cost him millions. The coaches has absolutely no answers. There were no halftime adjustments to be made, only the bitterness of knowing that this beating was going to continue for 30 more minutes. Scored on 6 of 7 drives. Forget field position, that just kept us from making 80 yard drives instead of 60. Meyer said it after the game, 'you guys were all the inspiration we needed'. More ANALysts drinking the Big 10 kool-aid. Watching Eddie George before the game and then during halftime was priceless. Seeing Emmitt chomp him after the game while George blathered on was great. Oh, and as far as bandwagoning goes....I'm sure you didn't mean me??? :) :) I told you we were going to win the day after we beat Arkansas. Congratulations again.....Florida Gators 2007 National Champions..... Pan, BTW, the biggest winner of all was Vegas. 83% of all money bet was on the Acorns. Pan, BTW, the biggest winner of all was Vegas. 83% of all money bet was on the Acorns. |
I watched a part of the game last night on Tivo since there wasn't anything else on, and I remembered why I told my wife on Ohio State's 3rd or 4th possession that Florida was going to win. The Gator's (just like most of the rest of the SEC) defensive ends were much faster than the OSU offensive line expected. They collapsed the pocket on almost every pass play. Smith got off a few shorter passes, but he only had a couple of chances in the first half to look anywhere farther than 5-7 yards deep.
The second half was just a seminar on why your defensive line and linebackers need to be as fast as possible. Other than possibly Penn State and maybe about half the Michigan group, no one in the big ten (they lost their right to capital letters after this bowl season) has speed in the non-secondary part of their defense. Every SEC team that's worth talking about (FL, GA, TN, AL, LSU, AU and maybe SC and AR) has very quick D-linemen and linebackers. Honestly, if I were a Texas fan, I'd be worried that the 'Horns didn't have better speed. And that, my friends, is one more reason that the SEC is the premier football conference in the country. Not to mention the fact that the big ten has only won 3 national championships in the last 30 years (OSU - 02, OSU - 98 [in 1 of 19 polls but I'll give it to them], MI - 97, MI - 85 [2 of 17 polls]). I didn't count Penn State until they joined the conference 1995 (for football), so none of those national championships get counted. As a comparison, the SEC had at least 12 that I counted quickly. There multiple champions in lots of years, but everyone got credit. In other words (and to repeat myself from an earlier post), suck it big ten. |
