TFP Fantasy Baseball
Just wondering if we were going to have a league again this year, Yahoo! opens up registrations in "early February".
Baseball 2005 5 of 11 BALCO Tilted Time I would like to try and improve on my 5th place finish from last season, which was pretty damn good considering I had no pitching. Benitez went down early, Dotel was right behind, Mota fell off the map and lost his starting job, then I was lucky enough to grab Foulke when we dis banded the inactive team only to have him miss most of the time I had him. My bullpen in general was a total mess and the strength of my offense is all that kept me in the running.

I finished a very distant second. My pitching failed me, as well. Screw Gagne.
I'm also not going to be duped by Magglio Ordonez, Richie Sexson or anyone playing catcher for the NY Yankees. We should have two leagues, though. One that is head-to-head and the other Roto style. |

if we go with BB, K, and ERA isn't that the same as WHIP? so why include WHIP? (i was thinking WHIP was a formula based off walks and era?)
And last year i believe the only thing to really agree to, was that to play all year. Last edited by Serpent; 02-05-2006 at 06:32 PM.. |

WHIP is a formula calculated by taking the number of walks and hits allowed divided by the number of innings pitched. So if a pitcher goes 6 innings and gives up 7 hits and 2 walks, he would have a WHIP of 1.50

I have a sal cap keeper, if anyone's interested. (I'm in Dylan's league also I use all 4....I'm a junkie I admit it)
You get 65 million for the draft and your first 2 picks (1 batter, 1 pitcher) are considered "franchise players" and do not go against your cap in anyway. But you have them on your roster all year and cannot DL or trade them (so they can really help or down the stretch kill you if they get hurt and you need that extra someone) It's a keeper league so the players you draft are yours until their contract expires, you trade them or they retire. From there we use the USATODAY salary website http://asp.usatoday.com/sports/baseb...aspx?year=2005 (Last years salaries) when drafting your players. All 25 roster spots are statted, Pos. C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, CI, MI, IF, IF, LF, CF, RF, OF, OF, Util, SP, SP, SP, SP, SP, RP, RP, RP, RP, RP, DL, DL Stat Categories: R, HR, RBI, SB, CS, BB, K, FPCT, AVG, W, L, CG, SHO, SV, K, HLD, ERA, WHIP Right now it's head 2 head but if the league wants I can change it to rotisserie. Here's how the draft will work: First round everyone just goes in random order for their offensive "Franchise Player" and then reverse order for their Pitcher. rounds 3-7 Manager 1 bids on Player1 everyone else has a chance to bid bidding continues until everyone but 1 person drops out. (the contract is only good for 1 year..... these 5 players will be FA at seasons end. 8-25 return to normal drafts, real life salary and contract length. It sounds a lot more complicated than it truly is. Last year I ran a league like this and it was fun, but I was going through the divorce and some other issues towards the end so I had to give it up.

One other thing, does league approval on the trade thing mean that everyone in the league has to click yes? Or does it mean people in the league can vote no to stop it? Reason i ask is if people don't check for awhile and there is a trade waiting and not enough people are there to accept it (say they would accept it if they were checking) i worry that that might hurt things?

Thanks FLSTF,
One thing I have to work out is that Yahoo only allows you to have 4 baseball teams. And I have 2 money leagues, a tournament and my work league. If I do another yahoo I would have to prolly give up my work league. Im trying to see if there is another good free venue then Yahoo. Might even liven things up a bit.
