Sickness and period "issues"? - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

My girlfriend, over this past week, came down with mono and started her period at the same time, poor girl, and is in quite a bad shape right now. However, her period has been very very light and has stopped much earlier than usual. She's also mentioned that the pain has been much less than usual. And yes, we have had intercourse fairly regularly before this. I'm not too worried because i assume her sickless is causing the problem, but i want a second opinion all the same. Is this a normal reaction to mono, or should I be more worried?

I don't know anything about mono, but I'd recommend getting a pregnancy test just in case. It's possible to have something that looks like a period when you're pregnant - just another one of mother nature's devious tricks to get us to have babies, I figure. Anyway I hope she feels better soon.

Did a doctor diagnose her wiht mono or was this a self-diagnosis? Most young women are given pregnancy tests as a matter of course when they are in the hospital for a diagnoses, especially if they are put on medication (as a just in case)
Mono drains you physically, so it's possible that the flow and the symptoms of her period are lessened. but if she wasn't given a pregnancy test at the doctor, I'd probably take one

Mono seriously knocks you body out. I don't know for sure if it would affect a woman's period, but it seems like a solid hypothesis.
