how far do you let religion go into your bedroom?
no need to go over what it does affect with alot of people....
..but how far do you guys and gals let religion affect your sexuality in terms of virginity, circumsison, activities and practices, orientation, etc... ? |
none. I dont let religion come in in any way. Me and the gf are still virgins but for other reasons. I am uncircumsized. We both love oral sex...
|
Religion has absolutely no place in my bedroom or any other part of my home.
|
Religion and sex to not make good bed mates(pun intended).
As far as I'm concerned with religion and sex, God said to go forth and multiply, he never said how, it was people that put religious limits on it. |
"oh my God... that feels good!" That's about it.

That's about as far as religion goes in my bedroom anyway. |
Loverboy and I are both atheists so religion doesn't affect us in any way. Period.

Well, my faith has a big part of what goes on in the bedroom. I consider myself a Christian, although I'm not an official member of the church I go to. The basic tenants are love, respect, and responsibillity. In the past I treated my lovers with love and respect, and I was mindful of the consequences of my actions. Children are a consequence of sex, so I never slept with a woman that I didn't at least like and I never had a one night stand.* I was fairly intelligent and took sensible precautions so that I didn't have to make difficult choices.
Currently, I'm married and I have a wonderful son. Now, if you are refering to sex before marriage, acceptibility of anal sex, homosexuality, etc. My faith guides me there just as strongly. As long as I treat my partner with love, respect, and responsibility, there really isn't anything else to worry about. Jesus gave us two laws, love God with your whole heart and love others as you love yourself. The intent of the law and the prophets depends from those two laws. So, as I see it, as long as I do that I don't think God really cares how my love for another is expressed as long as I follow my guidelines of love, respect, and responsibility. Baron Opal * Ok, there was one. And, wow, what a mistake. It's why I never had another. |
Well, I reject the idea that religion and sex are mutually exclusive or do not go well together. "Religion" and the way in which many Americans approach religion are not necessarily the same thing. In fact, I believe that what goes on in the bedroom can be quite the religious experience under proper circumstances.
I have read of approaches to religion, even in the framework of Christianity, in which masturbation, contraception, pre-marital sex, etc are all insignificant occurances. I see no reason why "religion" must entail anything in particular, good or bad, with regards to sexuality. It's all a matter of perspective. (EDIT: See above for an example of such an approach.) |

That's why I don't have the intention of ever dating a religious person. I use contraception, I think homosexuality is fine, I'll have sex without being married, etc. All of these things go against organized religions. As for the religious people who think these things are fine, I think they're just hypocrites. |
I am a practicing Christian. I waited until I was married until I lost my virginity. But I used contraception and I masturbated/masturbate (both of which are only problems in the catholic church, neither of which are really discussed in the Bible) I only have had heterosexual sex, and my wife won't do the anal bit, but I've wanted to do it, and I've also fantasized about mutual masturbation with another man, and about receiving fellatio from another man.

If you have something against the Pope, for goodness sake - put him at the top of your "Do Not Date List" - but don't define all people of religion by the narrow minds of a few. People can be religious without being tiny-minded. |
My priest stands in the corner and makes sure we don't violate any of the church's rules.
But sometimes he films us. |

When I get to the bedroom- me thinks God will be cheering and then hopefully taking his watchful eye over me elsewheres for the moment. As a Christian I plan to thank God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and the Acadamy many times on my wedding night. I will thank whoever happens to be on top (or bottem) as well. Since I won't marry anyone who doesnt share my beleif (or atleast I hope I don't have feelings for love for someone who can't - not because they are less than me- but because it gets ten times harder then -) I think that Religion will be VERY important in my house, and bedroom, and will be discussed as much as anything else. ...whethere we will be discussing anything while having sex is another matter.... |
I have a restraining order dictating that religion must stay at least 300 feet away from me unless given prior permission.

My faith permeates my entire life, including my intimate life.
How could it not? What I don't understand is the idea that faith in God and sex are mutually exclusive, because sex at its best, with someone you love and are committed to, is the most Holy act you can engage in. |
"Oh God yes!" :D
I'm sure someone has already stolen this from me. Damn it, 3rd post down too. |
I let it in the door, then I throw it out the window and never think about it again. Religion, like the State, has no place in the bedrooms of this or any other Nation IMO.
|
Religion is a big part of my sex life ... when I make love to my wife I'm worshipping the Goddess.
|
Nope. Religion doesn't affect anything- except when his angry mother tries to break us up because he had sex before marriage...
|
I'm glad religion is not part of my life, especially in the bedroom. Old girlfriends and their religious sexual hangups are long gone…thankfully. I always felt sorry for them..
|
Not at all. No religion in the bedroom or anywhere else. And didn't circumsize my son, either. My wife and I felt that it was pointless (no pun intended) in this day and age.
|
You know, the exhibitionist in me thinks it's kind've hot, because even though no one else is around, i can always count on god to be watching me.
|
The only time religion would get in my bedroom is if I'm fucking a nun.
|
I'm Catholic, and somewhat religious, but that won't stop me from doing whatever I want in bed. I'm not the biggest fan of Paul's letters, besides which there is very little about sex in the New Testament, so I figure I'm all good.
|
You know... Now that I think about it, I am an ordained Reverend in the Universal Life Church... So I guess religion does some pretty interesting things in my bedroom :P
|
One of my ex-girlfriends has now turned mormon, and won't even make out with a guy unless she plans to marry him.
|
My Church, stays out of the bedroom, at their request. The only thing they ask is that it is within the bonds of marriage and that you it is consentual. But otherwise - do whatever the hell you want. And I do. Often.
|
my faith has a fair say in my relationships...and i think that's been for the good.
it's critical to recover the parts of the tradition that are sex-positive, and celebrate the real possibilities for sexual intimacy to help us grow as people. |
It waits quietly outside the door, it knows not to come in, and if it's an emergency, it knows to knock first. :D
|
I am like some and have to say that faith has a lot to do with my bedroom. That isn't quite what the question stated (religion vs. faith). I am a virgin and damn proud of it. I listen to (or read in this case) people share stories about sex but no story has competed yet with the knowledge and feeling of my virginity. I understand and support others' right to choose what to do sexually and when but for me, it will be with a person I am committed to.
|
Religion in the bedroom... hm...
Sometimes I like to pretend I'm Jesus, and I'll proceed to tell my girlfriend how she'll rot in the bowels of hell for having sexual feelings. She doesn't like that. Actually I lie, but I will try that one day. |

Ah, good ol church camp, getting naked in the woods with the ladies. Damn that was a good time. As far as the religion question is concerned, I believe in jesus, I am a christian, but I don't let the stop me from putting myself into any of my g/f's holes. |

The Episcipalian stance is that contraception is practical, and homosexuals are welcome in the church. Yes, they do insist that sex wait until marriage. If I recall correctly, the only Christian demonination that has a contraceptive ban is Catholic. Acceptance of homosexuality varies widely between denomination and parish. And it's only hypocracy if you preach one thing and practice another. Determining what the Bible is telling us and what is relevant to today's world is what Bible study groups are for, and they can get quite lively with their discussions. It is those discussions that religious and faith-filled people determine what and how they are going to practice their faith and how it pertains to sex and other issues. Did I have sex before marriage? Sure, it was great fun. But I took responsibility for my actions and we have a lot of options not available to the ancients. The Bible is not, actually, an iron clad document. Many Christians believe that it is. Many also do not. |
Anything goes as long as it's done through the hole in your sheets.

I think the key word here is faith. It isn't an organization dictating what is right and what is wrong... it is a faith in God that is key. |
