Question for the ladies:
My wife is willing to shave but has questions....namely how often do you have to do it?
Don't you get bumps? How do you be really careful and get it all? |

for myself, i am a male, i use the silk effects plus and aveeno therapeutic shave gel....the razor has protection in the razor to nic your skin less...as for the shave gel it's suppose to cut down on the razor bumps and such...i have noticed it has helped from what i used to use. hope that helps  |
Get her to wax instead and save her the trouble of shaving.
She'll learn quickly that: - it's time consuming - you get bumps - you get itchy when the hair starts growing back out - you'll only have smooth skin for about 20 hours and then the hair is already growing back out Sure waxing is a bit painful but at least her skin will be smooth for weeks instead of a few hours ;) You can have her look at the discussions us ladies have had about this subject in the Ladies Lounge :) |
I agree with Nancy, waxing is the way to go...
depending on the person, shaving can be ok to awful. For me, I hate shaving there because it gets bumpy, it itches like mad when it grows back, and the ingrown hairs are haywire! frequency - every friggin day! waxing, a little painful but worth it, very smooth and lasts longer, a lot less ingrown hairs. frequency - once a month I recommend applying a gel after to slow hair regrowth, it's great and also makes the hair come back finer, if you're patient with it. |
If she's going to shave, make sure she gets a good quality razor, not those disposable ones. I use a men's Gillette as I found the women's razors weren't near as good.
It helps to trim the hair short before shaving. It's best to shave wet with lots and lots of lather. Some people prefer to shave dry with lots of baby powder. However, talc has been linked to ovarian cancer if I remember correctly and it's not adviseable to use it there a lot. As for bumps, if you shave every two or three days instead of everyday, you will get less irritation and bumps. ALWAYS use a sharp razor. When it begins to get dull, you'll get more bumps. For ingrown hairs, it's good to exfoliate your skin between shaves with a sea sponge or something else to get rid of dead skin. But if waxing works for her, I think that's probably her best option. For myself, waxing in that area makes me cringe. No thanks, I have trouble enough getting my brows done!! |
hmmm...shaving lasts me like 4 days of smooth :/ i only get waxes during the summer...try the venus razors...and you cant use enough shave gel!!
