She's 5 days late

Ok, I am currently keckin myself. My girlfriend is 5 days late for her period and has upto this point been extremely regular. She also has been going to the toilet a lot more often and says her breasts are sensitive. She says theres nothing to worry about because she doesn't 'feel' pregnant :| . We have not had intercourse at all (mutual decision) but are in no way abstinant. Please help me attempt to lower my heartrate!

Averett 10-07-2004 12:55 PM

Wait... You haven't had intercourse but you're not abstinant? So umm... what have you done?

If your penis has come into contact with her vagina, then she could be pregnant. You've really got to explain things more for us to understand

As for being 5 days late... If she's normally regular, it could be cause for concern. But it could very well be stress related.

JulesRapanga 10-07-2004 12:57 PM

sorry, hand jobs and fingering, just no actual sex

Averett 10-07-2004 12:58 PM

Well, then she can't be pregnant.

Unless your fluids come into contact with her. Then theres a chance.

How old are you two?

JulesRapanga 10-07-2004 12:59 PM

18 & 17,
I'm normally very careful about the fluids thing, after i go, i tend to leave and get cleaned up.

primal 10-07-2004 01:01 PM

If you got her pregnant without intercourse that would really be rare. I know it can happen but I've never heard of an actual case. Anyone else heard about a case like that?

JulesRapanga 10-07-2004 01:04 PM

i've read before about pre-cum and as far as I can remember it can contain some sperm depending on various things.

animal909 10-07-2004 01:09 PM

did ejaculatory fluids (including premature) get on hers or your fingers or anything else that may have entered her vaginal cavity?

Yeah, one of my good friends from college was a 'virgin birth'. I think some semen worked its way through his mom's panties, if I recall correctly.

JulesRapanga 10-07-2004 01:11 PM

definitly no cum, only possibly precum. When i run it through in my head it sounds like a remote possibility, then i think about her current symptoms and after a quick google on "signs of pregnancy" it becomes quite scary, as the first 4 she happens to have =/

maleficent 10-07-2004 01:12 PM

strangers things have happened,
It's doubtful, but put your mind at ease, and go buy her a test. It's the only way you will know for sure, and you'll get your answer one way or another.

most tests are pretty accurate within a day or so of a missed period.

Redlemon 10-07-2004 01:15 PM

Others would know better than I, but is a 'morning after' pill still within the window of opportunity?

JulesRapanga 10-07-2004 01:17 PM

I'm really not gettin any sleep tonight. I mean i want a kid in a few years but not before uni. And if she is then she'd keep it cus she's terribily anti-abortion. (think morning after pill is about 3 days range, today is about 6 days after)

Irishsean 10-07-2004 01:18 PM

Generally a "Day after" is really effective only during the first 24 hours, then generall goes downhill to 72 hours later...

After being 5 days late, not an option at all...

primal 10-07-2004 01:18 PM

As long as you keep all of your fluids away from her vagina, there is no chance. But if you/her get precum on your hands and touch her vagina then there's a chance.

primal 10-07-2004 01:18 PM

Sorry, double post.

JulesRapanga 10-07-2004 01:20 PM

anyone know / remember what precum actually is?

The morning after is 72 hours tops, after the moment of possible conception, not when she was supposed to get her period.

Did she get her period last month?
When was the last time you had your "non-abstinant" activity?
(cause the symptoms seem to be cropping up awfully soon.)

JulesRapanga 10-07-2004 01:27 PM

thats what i was talking about with the days there, last saturday

maleficent 10-07-2004 02:00 PM

Pregnancy Symptoms

It seems too soon for the frequency of urination, if she is pregnant, especially 6 days pregnant. The darkening of the area around her nipples happens pretty quickly...

JulesRapanga 10-07-2004 02:07 PM

ok, i've since done some reading and come up witha new question, at what point during the menstral (spelling has gone to sleep) cycle is a women fertile?

maleficent 10-07-2004 02:19 PM

She's fertile throughout all of it --but the most fertile time is within the week following ovulation...

Exactly my symptoms. Both times. Two beautiful boys. :)

JulesRapanga 10-07-2004 02:22 PM

not sure about that because at some point there has to be no egg because either it hasn't been released or its been absorbed before the flow starts

jonjon42 10-07-2004 02:23 PM

precum and other non intercourse means are possible (fluid was exchanged by clothes/hands/etc.) but the chance is pretty small....
I second the idea of buying her a test. Just ask her to put your mind at ease.

duxx0r 10-07-2004 02:26 PM

JulesRapanga: if shes pregnant, you would have to be the most unlucky dude around.. but I would get a test just to be sure

skier 10-07-2004 07:32 PM

So ummm... you two haven't had "sex" as in penetration or semen getting some way into her vagina, but she becomes pregnant? There just might be a third option here.

(if she is pregnant, chances are she fucked another guy!)

xepherys 10-07-2004 08:07 PM

I'm going to have to say she's not. Perhaps a female opinion on this next statement would be good, but I've had three serious relationships (including my wife) and ALL of them have had several times where they've been late or outright MISSED a period and not been pregnant. It can be caused by about a billion different things, including but not limited to:

Stress
Change of Diet
Excercise Change
Illness
Depression

I mean, it's always good to be cautious, but it's unhealthy to be nerve-racked about it. By a test in a day or two. Chances are it'll be negative. It'll set your mind at ease, or at least let you know one way or the other.

As for "absitenence without abstaining"... you really need to pick one side of the fence or the other. Frankly, people your age get into more hysterics over stuff like this (I've been one of them) because they DON'T have all the information. Getting it on TFP is decent, as most people generally don't speak on topics they have no clue about... but having the knowledge BEFORE something like this happens is generally a better plan.

No, I'm not slamming you... I've been in your shoes, and it's not a fun place. I wouldn't worry much about it. I do have a nine year-old son, and though he was not "planned" I'm still terribly glad he's here today. However, if what you described as your current sexual relations is true, your chances are VERY slim.

combatmedicjen 10-07-2004 08:24 PM

I have to agree with xepherys... the chances that your gf is pregnant from precum that you may or may not have had on your hands when you fingered her are so very remote... I'm going to have to say that she's not pregnant. If I had money, I'd bet it. :p

I've had at least one pregnancy scare with both serious ex's, and two scares now with Xeph. The first time I was just a few days late (still adjusting to a new BC), but the second time I had several legitimate symptoms. I had nausea/vomiting in the morning, restlessness at night, and my period was late. But, after I thought about it, I realized that it was *probably* just the stress of being in the last month of combat medic school. :p Still, I bought a test to put my mind (and xeph's) at ease. Negative, of course.

My point is, if you've been as careful as you say you have in keeping your semen away from her vagina, then she's not pregnant. After a $15 pregnancy test confirms it, I would consider getting her on some birth control in case you end up going past hand jobs. Definitely better safe than sorry, eh? Two words: Planned Parenthood.

StickODynomite 10-07-2004 10:41 PM

The symptoms she has could be from something other than pregnancy. I've had symptoms like that before and It turned out I wasn't pregnant, and I was late...when I was usually regular. I also recommend BC if she's not already on it. Keep us updated.. :)

Neptune 10-08-2004 03:29 AM

I also vote for no.
While I suppose it is technically possible to get her pregnant in the ways mentioned already, I also believe this would be incredibly unlikely.
My sister in law didnt have a period in about 3 years because she was training incredibly hard for ballet. A missed period doesn't always mean she's pregnant.

But as most have already said, get a test and then let us know so we can all get a good nights sleep again

Obtuse 10-08-2004 04:20 AM

Another 'not pregnant' vote here. As others have said, yeah, it is technically possible, but rare. I had a nearly identical situation when I was about your age, but it turned out fine. My girlfriend was just really stressed over some family problems and apparently it affected her cycle. So I think you are probably safe.

minxkitty 10-08-2004 05:14 AM

If she's young, there's the possibility that she's just late. Happened to me all the time when I was younger.

Of course, it still happens now, but that's beside the point.

iceburn 10-08-2004 05:26 AM

Not pregnant is my vote too.

I feel like a fucking moron for saying this, but I had unprotected sex about 50 times with someone, and if she got pregnant, it would have been a total fucking disaster.

Like, real bad.

I can always look back though and think, "Hey, that sure felt great!"

Sorry for being off-topic, but I was trying to make the point that if I'm that stupid and got away with it, etc. ...

Tenaglia 10-08-2004 05:29 AM

No need to worry I belive .. and if she's anxious, it just takes longer time...

A girl in my class went 6 weeks past...

sblime42 10-08-2004 08:46 AM

I'm going to have to go with the majority here and predict that she isn't pregnant; however, I highly recommend getting a test (for peace of mind if nothing else).

My question is: Is she against the concept of abortion or is she scared of the procedure?

If it's the latter, perhaps you can speak to an OB/GYN about ru486 (a.k.a the abortion pill). I would say this would be your last ditch effort.

Anyway, good luck man.

MSD 10-08-2004 09:01 AM

Most likely, she was a day or two late, and the worrying and stress of wondering if she's pregnant is making her later. I think you have to be 14 days late to get a reasonably accurate result on a pregnancy test.

Fate 10-08-2004 01:17 PM

I'd still reconsider my options in the instance she is pregnant. But if you havn't had sex with her, then your chances are nearly or are 0. There's pharmacy home pregnancy tests, she can take one I believe starting from 7 days starting on the day she was late.

JulesRapanga 10-08-2004 01:20 PM

ok cancel red alert, she told me she's started her period. Here's the aprt i really like, she blamed me for it being late ^^. This is because i've been talkin to someone who she thinks fancies me and that stressed her out. think thats a topic for another time tho...
