oi...the 'stank' and 'stench' terms....(please, people - try not to think so crudely about such things)..

but anyways - yes, I can tell. something i've notised since childhood, and it is one of my least favourite odors.

I suspect, however, that the particular odor I refer to is a combination of scented pads/liners with menstrual flow.

So...I don't think I notise the smell of every single woman on her period...but sometimes, yes. unmistakeable.

I think this is just another one of those things that vary from person to person.

With my woman it's just as fresh all season.

You can only smell it if the girl doesn't shower (or at least clean up down there) for a day or two during her period or if she doesn't change her pads often enough.

Will says he can with just about anyone, he has a strong sense of smell and he doesn't have to have his nose in between their legs to do it. Pretty weird.

I have to agree with Trisk. If the girl doesn't bother to shower or keep herself clean, then the place can start smelling like fish.

I know that "fish" is the socially accepted smell of a woman (though I can't for the life of me figure out why), but is that really the smell you mean?

Everyone smells different. Furthermore, everyone smells differently. I can smell my own special area grow more odorous and change scent every month no matter how much scrubbing I do, and ubertuber says it all smells fine. (I'm sure he detects something though.) The other thing is that my strongest smell is when I'm supposed to be ovulating (between periods), not actually during my period.

There is that reall really sweet smell someyimes I get a whiff of from women at work and such,
I always associated it with them ovolating or period.
Not sure if that is the case or not though

Reading the original post, I thought he meant a change in pheromones, not vaginal odor.

Yeah, nwlinkvxd forgot to say that I said what most of you are saying: You can maybe smell it if they use pads. THEN you can smell it. But really, like I said, you can't smell it if the blood is stopped up in a tampon.

That's what I was thinking too, and while I've got a pretty good sense of smell, I've never noticed differences of pheromones.

However, some of you brought up the "fishy" smell, and that is generally indicative of an STD or infection.

Though I've also read that the same smell, usually noticed the morning after sex, is caused by old semen.

i can generally tell where my gf at the time is during her cycle from her scent. I don't have to stick my nose in between her legs, but just from being around for a few minutes, i can tell.

it's not 'bad' just a chang efrom last week is how i always explain it. i can normally tell them wehn it'll be early or late as well...

I can usually smell it. I guess it varies from girl to girl.
