Condoms in public restrooms...
 

So, reading another post here made me think to ask the question, has anyone bought/used/reviewed the condoms bought out of those machines you see in public bathrooms?

I've never, but I've always wondered. Curiosity has made me think over and over again about them, but not enough to spend the .75 to buy any to put together a proper review...

Anyone else?

I have....they were Trojans....worked perfectly for me, I am still without Child ^^

Not once but then again I analyze every situation to the inane details if there's a possibility of me getting some action - I practically have condoms on me at all times.

I tried to once for a joke on a girl. I put the money in and selected the condom and a small pack of asprin came out instead, I took that as an omen. LOL

The *one* time I got up the guts to put in my 75 cents and it gipped me and gave out nothing. That so freaking blew.

From then on I just figured that the whole thing was one huge sham- guys put in their money, don't get anything for it, and don't complain to the clerk because they don't want them to know they were trying to get them in the first place. That's why it's in the bathroom- for the privacy/anonymity.

Well, it worked for them on me. I wasn't about to ask for a refund. I know I'm a weenie but at the time I was way more prudish and it felt like such a 'bad' thing for me to be doing that there was no way I'd say anything to anyone, even the store clerk in a town I was just passing through miles from home...

BTW scrooloose, the aspirin pack story is really funny. At least you got something for your 75 cents, even if it was an ill omen :-)

The one I really wonder about is the "novelty" items. I remember as kids we used to scrounge together our nickels and dimes to slip into those machines to get lame ass packets of "spanish fly" and other can't-remember-what stuff. Do any adults buy that stuff? Do the vending machine operators know who's buying the stuff? Weird.

I havent seen a condom one in awhile. All the ones Ive seen have been "Almost like Obsession", "mostly smells like Chanel", "I cant beleive its not High Karate"

Last bar I was in, we got some for kicks... and made water baloons out of them.

We had a dayglo orange one, a glow in the dark green, one that professed, once you go black, you'll never go back... one that was flesh colored but it had fake tattoos on it... they were really pretty funny. (it was even funnier when I snuck into the mens room to get them -- because the women's room didn't have a condom dispenser -- all they had in there was tampons - -not quite the same thing)

Most of the condoms seemed the novelty type, I'm not sure I'd trust it to do the job...

We had condom machines in our college dorm bathrooms. Lifesavers. Literally.

I don't think I'd trust the dispensers in the men's room. Condoms have a shelf life and break easily if used after the expiration date. You can't see the expiration date on them if they're inside a metal case. If I absolutely had to have them, I'd stop at a convenience after leaving the bar and get some there.

yeah, the shelf life thing would bother me too... but I guess if its your absolute last resort then expired is better then nothing

It's not much better than nothing. Sometimes old ones break just by putting them on.

You realize condoms have a shelf life of like a billion years, most of my condoms say an expiration date, and most of them are like 2008 or something...shelf life shouldnt be a concern...

What is a concern is the non-brandname condoms that are dispensed in those machines, most seem like novelty items and not suitable for the real thing.

keeping a condom say in your wallet or someplace out of the box for over 2 weeks i believe makes them go bad....or at least I've heard you shouldnt use them after that.

You could have tied off the baloons with tampon strings. That would have been a sight!


It's not that the box has magical condom-freshness powers. You shouldn't keep condoms in your wallet because the stress of carrying it around and sitting on it will weaken the latex.

I know condoms have like a five year shelf-life, I just don't know that I'd trust that the bathroom condom machine got serviced that often.
