Likely chance of a condom breaking?
 

Okay what I want to know is, is it likely for a latex condom to break/tear during intercourse? If so how likely is it? How often should I check for tears during intercourse? I am looking to buy Trojan Ultra Thin condoms and I want to know if these are bad condoms? I've Been using a different brand (Durex). Thank you in advance.

Most condoms break because people carry them in their wallets for months at a time, being heated/cooled constantly cause the latex to become brittle.

Make sure to use condoms that are stored in regular environment (NOT a car/wallet/etc), make sure you dont use those you put in your pants and then accidently washed.

Chances are very good that your condom will work flawlessly (higher % than the pill). Just make sure to look at the expiration date (yes they have those) ... my ex made that mistake with a boy and had to take the emergency pill because it broke.

Trojans are a very dependable condom. As I said, take care of them and chances are very good the only thing that will happen is a very satisfying orgasm (or two).

Between Seaver's advice and making sure things are properly lubed, you shouldn't have any problems. In my experience condoms are very safe.

I will offer this non-scientific advice, Trojans have gave me the least sensation of any condoms out there, I've switched to Beyond-7 brand for the feeling.

If your as unlucky as my friend you'll be breakin' em left and right... I've always joked with him that he must have a dorsal fin on that cock or something to break that many condoms...

So in case of said dorsal fin on pen0s in any way shape or form avoid condom at all cost...

Otherwise you're fine.

The chances of a condom breaking are inversely proportional to one's ability to pay for the raising of a child.

I have 10 year old son that perfectly attests to the slim margin that condoms can break...

If it tears during intercourse, chances are you'll know immediately. also, checking for tears when fucking will seriously kill the mood.

The chances that it will break depend on:

- The quality (If you are buying condoms for a dime, think hard.. long and hard, WHY they are a dime)

- The age (I know it used to be cool to carry a condom in your wallet, but if it's had contact with heat, cold, sweat, water, or been in the hands of you "best buds" throw it out, or ensure that its never anything more then a dent in your wallet.

- Your ability to put it on (Yes, that little pocket in the front IS for something.. If you have no room for.. the product of your intense.. love.. for the girl, then yes it may break)

Condoms are put through very heavy stress tests, and unless you are built like a bull elephant or the main tank gun on an M1A1 they should be good.. IF however you ARE built like a tank gun, you should be worrying about more then the condom breaking ;)

The important thing is how they are used; make sure to read the instructions.

I used to be worried about condom breakage (I still am, just not at much). My *very* smart girlfriend held a demonstration for me. She placed her fist in the condom, then her arm. Then just for show, she put her other arm in. These were Trojan something or others. This demonstration helped me a lot. You might want to try it, it might give you some added confidence.


Also, if you can get a naked girl to do it for you... that helps a lot.

I've had bad luck with condoms. I have no idea why (it is not like I an huge or anything). I've been married a long time and we have never really used condoms (I hate the stupid things), but in the handfull of times I've used them (maybe 10) I've had the break 4 times. Strange, eh?

make sure that they fit properly. I had one that was so tight that I blew the top clean off of it. never found the top of it either. but sounds like everyone has good advice though. If you are really worried try 2 of them if you are sensitive enough to feel anything when they are on.

BAD IDEA. This makes it _MORE_ likely that they'll break, cause they run against each other.

A condom kept in the wallet should be used or discarded within a week.

If you really want to test one, stretch it over your headdown to just below your nose, then breathe in through the mouth and out through the nose and inflate it. That's a pretty good quality control test for the first of a 12-pack. Do not, I repeat, do not do this with lubricated condoms.
