The Dating Anniversary Process...
So what do most of you do for anniversaries when they come up while dating someone. Do you try and do a little somthing every month, every couple of months or what? I have always heard and tried to do once a month for the first six months then celebrate the 6th month and 1 year, then once after the 1 year it's every year, but that's just what I thought. What is everyone elses opinion?

I did every month and she loved it...we are married now and we still do something

I've been in a relationship for a little over 2 1/2 years now.
The first year we celebrated each month. The second year we celebrated every other month. After year 2 we've only celebrated 2.5 years. I think you should do what feels natural. If you feel like celebrating, celebrate! In my case, after a while it got kind of repetitive, so we slowed down. It wasn't really a conscious decision, although I think when I said "Happy 22 months!" we realized that it was a bit silly. |
While my girlfriend and I don't always "celebrate" every month-anniversary, I make an extra effort to spend as much time as possible with her. That way, it doesn't necessarily come off as smothering her, but it's still something special.

We try to do something special whenever we can. After 3 years, the annual is the biggest, with little ones sprinkled here and there. He is more into than I am, as far as planning and preparing. I do things when the mood strikes me. I generally do bigger things, but that's because they are less frequent. And it rarely ends up with us both doing something for the other on the same day. Go with what you feel.

The first 5 years of our marriage, we celebrated it with a dinner out. The last 7 years, we have exchanged cards, and we go out to dinner if we feel like it. It all depends on the girl. Some will like it, some will find it smothering.
