Telling if someone is hot through voice?
 

OK i already did a similar thread about this invloving accents or some crap, but i think this is a little different?

This morning i've been doing a bit of calling around about this job thing i am setting up and have consequently talked to quite a few receptionists and secretaries (all of whom are females as well :) )

In the end i talked to quite a few (about 5) and after finishing up, to amuse myself, i was rating who i thought would be the most attratcive out of them, purely based on voice.

Anyway, it'll be interesting next week for me to actually verify some sort of results.

In the meantime though, do people sometimes think about this sorta stuff, if they're talking to an unknown on the other end of the line? I know it's probably part of the imaginaiton process and we always try to make an image of the person based on our own perception of them. HOw much of a factor does voice play in an attraction process? whether it be pitch, accent, tone etc

It seems though, that most girls have a really sweet sexy voice anyway, so you never can tell :eek:

I've been unhappily surprised by this a few times... however, a really sexy voice with a really pretty face can go a long way. Maybe that's just the musician in me coming out though.

Well, I've met 2 of our salesmen who I always thought sounded hot.... The one, from Houston was... the other, from Australia wasn't. I was disappointed in him :(

It is my experience that you can't tell how hot someone is by their voice. Some girls have very sexy voices but aren't hot at all. Some girls have scratchy or squeeky voices but are totally hot.

Wasn't that an Aerosmith video about 10-15 years ago? I seem to recall a phone sex song, and at the end the woman hung up the phone and was middleaged, frumpy, and ironing in curlers.

No way to tell. I have dated a lot of singers (don't know why, I just seem to draw/be-drawn-to them) and let me tell you that I have met some really ugly chicks who sound incredibly *spellcheck* hot on the phone. There are plenty of really seductive sounding ugly fat women out there, trust me. Haven't really met any going the other way though....

That is the long and the short of it. Voice can be a wonderfully attractive thing in itself, but has no bearing on bodily attractiveness.

My uncle still talks about the time he was working on a job sight and everyone in the office had talked to this woman and she sounded so seductive. When he went to see the company he found her very uggo... he tells me to this day how he went back and told the other guys how much of a fox she was...

Anyway after doing tech support for several years now I've come to the realization that the voice is a horrible way to judge someone's appearance. I still visualize all the females I talk to as very beautiful but whenever I have a chance to meet any customers I set my expectations as low as possible to avoid any disappointment.

I work in a call centre and answer like 100 plus calls a day. I ALWAYS wonder-but yet to find out if any of em are actually attractive.

There is a girl I talk to regularly through work. She has the sexiest voice. When i met her I was so let down. I wish I had never met her face to face.

I think girls really have a thing for guys with accents :D

One of my best friends is from Britain. He isnt overly good looking, but man, as soon as the girls hear him talk, they are all over him. I guess it helps that hes pretty damn funny, too... ;)

I dont really think you can tell if someone is hot through their voice. It is possible to have an incredibly sexy voice that, with the right woman, is the most incredible turn-on. The two dont always go together, though.

Ever seen the gals on the phone sex hotlines? *shudder*

Some girls have the ability to make themselves sound ubersexy. ;) I know I've practiced.

I usually get disappointed the other way around, I'll see a girl and go talk to her, and she has an incredibly thick gutter-South accent.

it's a trick, and evil trick taught to women, (think about it, those phone sex oppirators, are really that hot???) bull..anyways in highschool i met this girl online, got her number, called her up and we chatted, she sounded so hot, met the chick and she tried to eat my arm as a snack when i reached for the popcorn during the movie. This girl was huge, like her boob was as big as my head, and i had to be nice, and go on the date..but i found some friends afterwords and "had to work on a proejct"...las fuckin time i ever do that...ever.

I got a voice like a failing VW Bug motor.

Voice means shit. First off though Accents do seem to have their charm. I.E. this guy at the Tennis Center I play at occasaionly was from austrilia and basically...he could bag anyone!!!

Secondly, for all you youngins out there, Beavis And Butthead was a very popular and funny show. I remember one night watching and in fact Beavis and Butthead called this phone sex line but it was just a overweight ugly woman living in a trailer :) LMAO!

All I have to say is, the Aerosmith video. When that lady is suppose to be the hot young girl wanting phone sex, but shes big and not sexy ironing clothes.

There is a saying that a person has a face made for radio referring to the people with great voices but aren't very attractive. There are exceptions, of course, but there is absolutely no correlation. At the OU-Texas game this year, there was this very hot blonde sitting behind me, but she had this deep hoarse voice that was totally unattractive, so it works the opposite way as well :)

I don't think you can tell whos hot through voice..Look at that lady in the Old Navy commertials, hot but her SUPER annoying laugh/voice is really bad

I think a person's voice is part of what makes them attractive, therefore if a woman has a great voice, it makes her more attractive, regardless of her appearance. And it works both ways - an unattractive voice takes a little away from the whole package.

Attractiveness isn't just visual - it's how they look, sound, smell, taste, and feel.

sexy is subjective, the voice comes with the whole package and I find most of them quite sexy by themselves.

I take orders on the phone at work all the time and have to deliver food to the houses. Sometimes I get excited because the girl was super nice and sounded very cute. 9 times out of 10 they are just average looking.
