Getting Back Out There

I´ve been inspired by someone (really sorry, i can´t remember exactly who) who posted recently about how they felt nervous when it came to meeting new girls after the break up of a long relationship.

I´ve been doing my own research into how one may successfully return to the real world, mostly from the writings of a Mr L.L. Cool J, who recommends a number of appropriate actions:

1. ¨Be at one with the universe¨:

Mr. Cool J. believes that a human being should try to think of himself not
as opposed to the entirety of existence but as a part of it. This may
involve some form of Social Contract, start small: such as regular washing
and dental maintenance. Remember; everyday is a rehearsal.

2. ¨Paradise is very nice¨:

The text seems to suggest here that erotic love might exist only on its own
terms rather than as a step toward ideal domesticity. He rejects by this the
more comforting bourgeois notion that erotic love produces married love
which produces community. Paradise is only nice because of what it is not,
would be a more simplest binary reading.

3. ¨Touch it why don't you¨:

Mr. Cool J. also recommends that whenever possible one should try to be
above all a sensualist, a bon vivant, walking down the street stop to caress
all the cats, sniff all the flowers. The author rejects the rationality of
Kant in favour of a more empirical approach to life and love based on the
senses and the direct knowledge they bring us.

4. ¨Hey Girl... I want to rock your world¨:

Yes, Mr. Cool J, encourages all of us to be our own art work, our own
one-man show. And the higher the production values the wider the audience
will be and the greater the general appeal and buzz. In love and in life in
general the author suggests that we are primarily entertainers and that we
should refine our acts such that they become something that would indeed
'rock someone's world'. Remember generally, costume, props, location,
lighting and make-up are all important but should not distract from the plot
which should be your main weapon. What can be created in the mind of a woman
is always far greater than anything you can render in reality.


I find it fascinating how such fantastic social comments and advice can be gleaned from such an unexpected art form as Hip-Pop.
Anyway, I´ve taken these points to heart, and my social appeal has certainly been lifted.

Please tell me what you think, and i´d really appreciate any other interpretations of how the work of Mr. Cool J. and his contemporaries can improve social interaction en masse.

Setting the higher standard for yourself can only promote growth and confidence so his writings make a lot of sense.
Entertaining the Female mind takes plenty of work and patience.
