Height difference
 

I used to date a woman who was about a foot taller than me, and got to thinking if that had happened to anyone else, and if said relationship actually lasted. (mine was extremely short, with a nasty breakup). I'm wondering if height influences most relationships, or if it's just me.

I definitely think height can play an important role, atleast at the beginning of a relationship. I once dated this girl who was so attracted to me largely because I was as tall as her. She was over 6' tall so it was a big deal for her to find someone she enjoyed being with who could look her in the eye! Very early on, however, I realized I didn't enjoy being with her and it was all downhill from there.

Ah well, point is I think the fact that I was tall played a large part in the original attraction.

I've dated a few women that were taller than me, I didn't find any problems in that area. I'm married to a women who is shorter, but I don't think height is an issue.
A friend of mine married a women who is 8 inches taller than him, what I would have given for... never mind.

I don't want to go out with a woman that is taller than me. It just seems demeaning, if that makes sense at all. I am 6'1" and one girl I dated was about 5'10" and she was pushing it. When she wore heels one night, it was scary. However, I would bend the rules if the chick was super super hot, like a supermodel.

Bit of a double-sided issue...
For me personally I could care less about her height as long as she's at least decent looking...
On the other side when I see other couples with a large height difference that always makes me wonder how long the relationship will last...

That said I've only dated with about-same-height girls...

Being 6'4" myself, every girl I've dated was much shorter than me, so I has never been an issue. But I don't think I'd mind dating someone over 6'.

If I dated someone a foot taller than me, she would be Yao Ming.

And my wife would be pissed.

I hate to say this, but, the fact that my husband is taller than I am *does* make a big difference. I can wear heels, get the sexy posture that goes with that, and still look "up" to him when we're dancing.

Sorry guys but tilting my head back to see his eyes, even if it's just a little, makes me breath heavy.

Dude I am 6'2" if I date a girl taller then me shes gotta be like Lisa Leslie or something. Don't think I could do it. Plus I like a girl that is about 5'8" or so that way we can more hten likely have sex standing up.

And being only 5'8 it's quite possible that I'll find a girl bigger than me, but meh. I dont think its worth worrying about.

i think that height is important, in a subconcious way. most women want to feel protected by there man, and there is a certain amount of security they might feel from cuddeling up to the chest of their man. i know i like the feeling of haveing my g/fs face against my chest. i am 6'4" and i dont like dateing short women. i hate having to pick my girl up to give her a kiss :-)

height isnt really an issue in who i date, but if they are taller it is definately a bonus... i definately like em tall, real tall, but i dont discriminate if they arent. I usually do feel a little akward if they are much shorter though.

the shortest girl i ever dated was 4'10 myself im 6'5 it was kinda interesting i guess, our friends thought it was funny atleast. but overall i think i do prefer girls that are closer to my height..6' 6'2ish but not taller than me!=)

Im with a girl now who is like 7" shorter than me, it doesnt really both us, cept for kissing which i either have to bend down or pick up her, both hurt my back.

For Mr. Cedar (husband), height was a big factor in relationships. He's 5'4" (so am I), and because of this, a lot of women wouldn't date him. He even had women tell him, "You would be so hot if you were about five inches taller." He was not happy when I showed up at our wedding in 2" heels, but I swear I couldn't find flats to go with my dress. He doesn't usually mind if I wear heels when we go out, but he is generally very selfconscious. Personally, I don't mind because when I hug him I can rest my head on his shoulder and hey, when we're lying down, it doesn't matter.

I also like not having to get a neck ache every time we kiss.

I guess it's all about your preferences.

My girlfriend of 2.5 years is an inch shorter than me...we could always bond over how we are both pretty short. :P

I'm 74 inches and always wanted to be with someone taller then me.

Never happened but it's still a fantasy. The wierdest one that always comes to mind is Lindsey Davenport. Olympic Gold Medalist...mmmmmmm :)

I'm 5'6 and I definalty like taller guys, I think most woman do. But if the feelings there height shouldnt matter.

I'm 6'8", so any woman taller than me is in the "Too Scary To Fuck" category. Never been with anyone taller than 5'11" and have no plan to be.

I'm about 6'0" and my wife is 5'4". Other people seem to be amused by the difference, but we get along just fine, our Fifth Anniversary is next week.

My b/f is exactly 1 foot taller than I am. He's also very broad so it was definatly intimidating (sp??) at first... now I love it.

I'm 5 or 6 inches taller than Yoshi, which we both agree is a damn near perfect height difference. Easier to kiss each other - and she can still wear heels whenever she wants without it looking weird.

I'm 4'11 and 90# if i didnt date guys significantly larger and taller I wouldn't date much.. Besides I dont date men shorter than me. only met a couple of those but, they were a couple of clowns

She had really big boobs and a rather large butt and hips...I liked it, was just weird, it was like all her weight was centered around them. Was nice in bed =P

Most of my girlfriends have been a bit on the short side (5'2" to 5' 6"), and it makes for an interesting sight dancing.
I really don't mind it though, my girlfriend said it makes me look like a big teddy bear.

Same here, but I like tall girls. I hate dating short chics. The smallest girl I ever dated was 5'1". It was odd. I always felt like I was walking around with a little girl. Plus, I've dated a few chics just over 6' before her and she was so short and stumpy that it creeped me out a little. The tall chics I dated all played hoops and were in top shape. There's nothing like the long lean legs of a 6 footer. :D I loved it! The only problem is most tall girlies are brutal. :mad:

I'm 6'0" and my g/f is 5'9", just a little shorter. That is just about perfect if you ask me.

i love having a short girlfriend. she's like a toy. j/k but it's fun, the hight is perfect where it counts. i wonder why it's like that, and it's so rare it goes the other way around?

But I have dated women taller than me and it was not a big deal. My wife is just an inch shorter than me and she has never indicated any negatives - except she can't wear heels (but that is not a big deal for her)

is it just me, or does it seem like every other guy on these forums is over 6 feet? Damn I feel short.....

I have to date a shorter girl, the first 2 gfs I had were 5'9 and 5'10, I'm 6'0, and I always said I wanted a girl that was shorter than me, now I'm with one who's shorter than me, 5'6-5'7 and I'm happy.

I really need to conduct more research on this question.

Its hard for me (I'm 6'4") to find someone taller than me. My wife is 5'4".... makes no difference to me as far as her height goes.

My first bf was a full foot taller than me. Our relationship lasted a year, and ended by no fault of our heights. Noted height problems:
-nasty neck injuries to us both
-little or no successful 69 (all his height was in his torso)

My current bf has a couple of inches on me, but when I wear heels I am taller. I think that bugs him a lot, but honestly, I don't see why anyone places importance in height. I don't object to others' height preferences, except maybe ghostF98, ouch. You feel demeaned when a girl is taller than you? How do you think that makes chics feel? I'd hate to think.

I'm going to have to jump in and be the third to agree with this statement. It could be dead wrong, but I just haven't been in a situation to even see or talk to a girl taller than me, so all I have is my imagination to scare me.

As with height and muscles as well. If a girl was stronger/bigger than me, its way too scary. Although that just the alpha male side of me, i've already got some height and muscles, i don't really want any more :P

I'm just under 6'1" and girlfriend is 5'3. Hasn't really cause any problems, haven't really even though about it to be honest.

Dated taller (much taller!), dated shorter, I couldn't give a damn.

I can't date a woman taller than me. I simply don't find them attractive. Weird blip in my brain, I suppose.

I'm 6'5" and its rare enough I see someone much taller than me.. girl or not. Not that I havn't seen any.. but u know what I mean, and man is it weird when you see someone like a foot taller than you when your used to being the tallest one around.

Unless I was really attracted to a woman I dont think I could go out with one taller than me. If I were shorter it would be a different story.

I'm a little over six feet and my gf is about.. 5'4. It's not too much of a problem but it's hard kissing her during sex sometimes and sucking her breasts are almost impossible.

my first girlfriend was a full foot shorter than me.. her mouth came perfectly to my nipple-height. The relationship lasted nice and long, no problems.. but then again, women are expected to be shorter.. I could imagine that a woman dating a shorter man would subconsciously think him inferior, or undesirable.

But frankly, if it ended quickly and painfully, it probably had a lot more to do with your respective personalities..

I'm average height - 5' 11", and my wife is pretty short - 5' even. Honestly, I couldn't care less though. I've dated short, tall and everything in between, and didn't give any consideration to height with any of the girls.

I'm 5'8 and I once dated a girl who was 6'3. It was...interesting. Didn't make a difference in the "power" of the realtionship, so I don't think it was a problem.


Plus sex was a lot more fun

when the girl is a taller i think it is a problem for the girl.
Most girls i have dated have at least thought that way. But there are plenty of shorter girls out there for all those shorter guys.

A short girl and a tall guy....now that can create some interesting situations when you start to be intimate with eachother.
