Being insulted by dating website

So, I was bored and lonely and I filled in this eharmony thing.

This is what they came back with after 20 minutes

I tried to fill the thing in honestly...

I mean, fuck me! I am so pyschologically flawed they wont even show me the people in most post code? They wont even take my money if I wanted to join their site? What a bunch of pricks.

Has anyone ever heard of this? Being rejected by a fucking dating website? What an insult... and to think I was feeling low before... this a crippling kick in the nuts for the self esteem isnt it?

We're very sorry, but our matching system cannot predict good matches for you.

eHarmony's patented matching system was developed after extensive research into marital satisfaction. We use each person's responses to our Relationship Questionnaire to predict the pairings of individuals that are highly likely to result in satisfying long-term relationships, based on what we learned through our research.

Unfortunately, based on responses to our questionnaire, we occasionally find situations where our matching system cannot identify high quality compatible matches, and this has happened in your case. Please understand that it is a result of our matching process and in no way reflects on you as a person or your ability to be in a happy relationship.

We apologise and regret our inability to find good matches for you. The time you spent completing our questionnaire, however, has enabled us to provide you with a free Personality Profile.. This Personality Profile lets you learn more about yourself and should provide you with valuable insights.

We wish you all the best in your search for that special someone.

You're too good for 'em, SF. Also, there's nothing actually scientific about their system. It's only slightly more complex than most other sites.

Zeraph 01-09-2011 02:13 PM

Yeah, I've heard of that all the time :) makes me want to try and get rejected (I know I will, their primary criteria is religious). SF if you want a good dating site try OKCupid. Its free and has similar matching things.

Strange Famous 01-09-2011 02:21 PM

They even gave me the old "it isnt you, its us" line.

They might as well have said they liked me as a friend.

Hotmnkyluv 01-09-2011 02:27 PM

Maybe they just value you as a friend and don't want to ruin things...

Were they a TILTED dating website?

No.

My case rests.

Worse kick in the nuts if they'd accepted you.

a year or more ago, I did the questionnaire on eharmony, and got the exact same message.
Fuck em
Fuck em up the ass
:D

I hear some folks like that.... ;)

Make sure you didn't say anything directly or indirectly against the terms of use of the site. Perhaps in eHarmonys case they "determined" this (incorrectly) from the questions that were asked. Most of the "serious dating" websites reject people who say they are currently married, minors, looking for loose relationships, prior sex offenders or allude to anything like that in a personality profile.

Hotmnkyluv 01-09-2011 03:52 PM

I remember a few years ago eHarmony was in the news because their computer told them that applicant's age/height/weight ratio was not attractive.
I'm not saying that was the case with you but as I recall they got a response much like yours.
A couple of years later they were in the news again for dumping already established members for the same reason.
I guess eHarmony only wants the beautiful people.

Shauk 01-09-2011 03:57 PM

eharmony is a sham anyway, use plentyoffish or okcupid if you're going to use any. POF is probably the best one around though.

LordEden 01-09-2011 05:57 PM

This is pretty much my "finishing" bit for my comedy act. I got rejected by eharmony myself and I make a lot of jokes about it. It's funny and easy to work with.

It's eharmony, it's bullshit. Don't worry about it.

It is fucked up that the internet can "reject" you. That's low.

Lendari 01-09-2011 06:22 PM

Hmm actually this is kinda interesting. In a way rejecting users makes eHarmony kinda unique no? I mean all the other dating sites just want you to sign up.

I might just have to give this a shot myself.

This.

Chemistry.com worked for me. 5 months until the wedding.

Calypso15 01-15-2011 06:47 AM

I had a friend register for eharmony. He was accepted but months went by before he received a match. After waiting for like 6 months he inquired & according to eharmony the reason why he wasn't getting matched was because of the uniqueness of his personality. Is that a way of saying, "You're so screwed up it's going to take time for us to find someone for you?"
Waste of money. Waste of time. Total shit.

james t kirk 01-16-2011 01:12 PM

I was told that they are some sort of christian-centric dating site.

If you are a male, and you aren't looking to get married, have kids, and go to church regularly - you are a piece of shit in their eyes.

Oh well.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I've heard.

Tell them your gay and see what happens.

Shadowex3 01-16-2011 04:44 PM

I think sums up the issue with eharmony.

troy512 01-16-2011 06:12 PM

a few days ago i was rejected because i selected "Separated" instead of single. the divorce is pending, takes along time to go through court system.

so it is ok for her to whore around, but not for me to keep the kids and use a legitimate dating service.

TheCrimsonGhost 01-17-2011 05:49 AM

I did this about a year ago and got a similar response, though in mine they pointed out that 1 in 5 people didn't fit their match making bullshit, and I was of that 20%. I thought it was funny, my babies mama thought it was accurate. I saved the text somewhere, if I can find it I will post it

Jrock 01-18-2011 04:14 PM

I wouldn't join any of the paid dating sites, they haven't done anything to convince me that they do anything more than the free alternatives. Personally, OKCupid is working for me. I've recently met a wonderful woman and am excited about where our relationship is going.

oh, I think I ticked Jewish for religion.

Maybe I could sue for discrimination against these bastards on this???

intak758 01-27-2011 10:22 AM

wow that's ridiculous that they rejected you. I would write a complaint letter, go public with it. Every single person on this planet deserves to find love and it's not up to them to decide if you have the right personality traits. Gah, that just infuriates me!
