I'm new to this board, first off. So hello everyone and thanks to whomever does reply. :)

I'm Christine, 23 years old, and am in a relationship where I lost my virginity. So, with that being said it will explain my somewhat lack of knowledge.

I've been on Quasense (the generic version of Seasonale) since January of this year I believe. If you don't know, you take 3 months of active pills and then one week of placebo pills, thus meaning you don't have a period but once every 3 months.

I freak out everytime the inactive pills come around, buy a pregnancy test and then start my period later in the night that I took the test, or the next morning. My boyfriend hates this time, but always reassures that I'm not pregnant. Most of the time we have sex, he does cum inside of me though, as we both do enjoy that.

I am on my 4th day of no birth control and still haven't started my period. I feel a few signs of it, but I'm freaking out, yet again.

I was just wondering who else is on birth control, or even Quasense, and what day of inactive pills you usually start your period.

P.S. I am stressed about other things, which I know can stop you from menstruating. At what point should I go buy a pregnancy test? Thanks againnn.

The hormones prevent pregnancy, but the placebo pills contain no hormones.

One option is to use a second form of contraception (condoms) during the placebo period - and for a week after, while the hormone BC gets back to active levels.

Oh no, I know that. We don't have sex for the week I'm not on birth control. I'm just worried because I haven't started my period yet, and the last active pill I took was on Tuesday.

I'm just always nervous about it because if I were to get pregnant during the first month of my 3 month pill pack, by the time I'd find out I'd be nearly too far along to get an abortion. This is why its always such a big deal to me.

I just don't know whats normal when on the placebo pill week as to what day to start your period. 3rd? 5th?

When I was on regular birth control pills, it wasn't abnormal for me to start my period 4-5 days after starting the inactive week.

I can't help you with your main question, but wanted to comment about the too late for an abortion comment. I was under the impression that you're supposed to take regular pregnancy tests (at least once a month) whenever you're on hormonal birth control. It reduces the risk of the hormones interfering with the pregnancy (You're supposed to stop your BC if you get pregnant) and exactly the situation you described above.

your freaking out could be reversing the effects that the placebo is supposed to have. if i were you and wanted the control to keep working, i would mix all the months pills in a big opaque baggy and just assume that you're taking hormones every time

I was under the impression that the hormones in bc pills wouldn't affect a pregnancy if you were to take them unknowingly in the first trimester. I could be wrong of course but I've never been told to take a test regularly because of possible complications.

As for the op, what is normal for you? Some women start the first day of the placebos and some start on the last day. The more important thing us what you normally experience. Try tracking your period for a few months and see what the trend is. And relax.

Same here, and when I was on Yaz which has less inactive pills, I wouldn't start my period until I was taking the active pills again. Every one is different and thus how you will react will be different. Just don't freak out as that will make your body stress and more likely to delay the period.

And these ladies are correct, eveyone responds differently to the "set frequency" that hormonal birth control is supposed to create. For example, my body apparently doesn't like the newest pill I've been on for six months and has decided to grace me with two, count 'em, two full cycles per month, including PMS and bleeding, yay!
If you're concerned, call a doc and get a blood or pee test. But, stressing out is only going to make it worse. Our bodies are spectacular at punishing us for stress, male or female. Only, us ladies have fewer heart attacks, I believe.
