What is the 'standard' size of condoms?

of their many kinds, and I have asked the pharamacist too as well that they're all standard sizes BUT WHAT IS THE STANDARD SIZE??? IM ONLY arOUND 4 cm in length.

Preferably one with spermicide because more safer. I definitely want to go for the safest one.

Snugger fit I think it is. BUT there are so limited brands that are snugger fits.

Just get a regular and a snugger, get yourself hard before she comes over/you go over and see what fits.

I don't know about sizing but if you're in Toronto, go to the condom shack Condom Shack - Redirect on Queen St. W. near University.

They'll have a much wider selection than your local pharmacy and I bet a more knowledgeable staff.

If you're not in Toronto, there may be a similar shop in your town so have a look.

Condoms are measured in "nominal width", which is the size you get when you lay the condom over the edge of a rule.

It is therefore HALF of the circunference.

Wrap a piece of paper around the erect penis, near the body - mark where it overlaps itself.

Measure the length of the paper to the mark.

Half it.

Take off a couple of mm (to ensure the condom is not too baggy)

Get this size.

E.g. You measure 110mm around the penis.

Half of this is 55mm.

Take off a couple = 53mm - you need STANDARD condoms.


You measure 130mm around.

Half of this is 65mm.

Take off a bit, to get 60mm,

You need EXTRA LARGE condoms.


You measure 100mm around.

Half it to get 50mm.

Take off a bit - you get 48mm - you need CLOSE FITTING condoms.


You measure 60mm around,

Half it to get 30mm.

Take off a bit - you get 25mm.

Also - regarding spermicide. Don't.

Seriously - it makes NO difference to conception rates when condoms are used correctly, but slightly increases the chance of STI transmission.

Just bought the condom, getting ready for tomorrow's big day.
Yes, I went to Condom Shack in Toronto and gee, I was such a nervous wreck but told them what was I was looking for, Snuggle type. She recommended the brand Kimono(red one) Sheer Sensation.

Now the next question is, this kind is ultra sensitive and thinner. Now i'm thinking.. 'thinner', don't I smell moar trouble? because thinner would be increasing the risk of breakage of the condom wouldn't it? Or am I wrong? im just going with my intuition here so please freely correct me as you would do so! Thanks in advance. One love!

No, actually, thinner does not equate to weaker in condoms. Thinner is awesome. Kimonos are a good choice.

I read the OP and, uh, I'm pretty sure if you put something smaller the size of my little finger in a standard size condom that there will be issues.

I'm an American so the metric system doesn't come naturally to me but I'm pretty sure 4cm is also 40mm. As it stands, my pinky is larger.

Silicone lube is great for condoms.

Oil based lube is a total no-no. Oil (and grease, fat, etc) degrade the latex VERY fast - if you blow a condom up like a baloon, and rub baby oil on it, it will burst on its own in just a few minutes.

Never use vaseline, body lotion, massage oil or anything greasy on you or your partner before or during condom use.

As snowy says, thinner is not an issue, just be sure that the condoms you use have "certified to ISO 4074" on the packaging somewhere - this is confirmation that they've been tested to a very high standard.

when used correctly you should not be breaking condoms...correctly meaning they fit properly and sufficient lubrication is used, the lack of either or both are the two leading causes of condom failure...personally the only condoms i can stand are the thinnest ones available as 90% of my sex life has been condom-less with verified clean women on birth control...i'd say try a variety and figure out what feels the best to you check out condomdepot.com, they have a lot of useful information on pretty much every condom made and lots of advice on condom usage, lube selection etc

I'm curious as to your age. Regardless, your entire head should be exposed when you pull back the foreskin. If you're 18 and your foreskin cannot go past your penis, then you may be suffering from Phimosis, which is a medical condition.
