Weird muscle cramp after sex?

My sig other for a couple of years has on and off been getting this weird cramp after we do the deed. She says it feels like a muscle "up her ass" cramping up - and no thats not the point of entry I used. Usually a warm bath or a shower makes her feel better - bath more so. I can't find anything on the net that might relate to whats happening - anything I find relates to anal!

She's even had it once when she dreamed about giving me oral lol.

It seems to be relative how big an orgasm she has..if its big...she'll cramp,

It puts her in agony - I wouldn't be surprised if she starts shying away from sex because of it (if she hasn't already).

Does anyone have any idea what might be going on?

I have no idea, but I strongly suggest that she discuss it with her physician or ob-gyn. My wife sometimes gets a leg cramp when she's on top, but that relates to her calcium intake, not her orgasms.

I don't think she ever would...she'd be too embaressed. Maybe I'll bring it up with my GP..(a woman)

It's nothing to be embarrassed about. That said, I felt pretty awkward explaining (in detail) to my female chiropractor and her female nurse how I hurt my back and neck during sex.

sometimes after an orgasm GG will get a cramp across the arch of her foot that I always have to rub out for her.

Like I always say, if there is something wrong in the groinal region, see a doctor about it.

I may have an answer

Levator Ani Syndrome

Levator Ani Syndrome (also known as levator syndrome and proctodynia) is episodic rectal pain, caused by spasm of the levator ani muscle.[citation needed] The etiology is unknown.

Symptoms include a dull ache high in the rectum and a feeling of constant rectal pressure or burning. The pain may also be felt in the low pelvis or perineum.[citation needed]

The discomfort may be relieved by walking or pelvic tightening exercises similar to Kegel exercises. Other treatments include massage of the muscle, warm baths, muscle relaxant medications, and biofeedback. Electrical stimulation of the levator ani muscle has been used to try to break the spastic cycle. Injection of botulinum toxin A has also been used.

Variants of levator ani syndrome include proctalgia fugax (fleeting pain in the rectum) and coccydynia (pain in the coccygeal region). Proctalgia fugax and levator ani syndrome have not been found to be of psychosomatic origin, although stressful events may trigger attacks.

Quote:

In the female the anterior fibers of the Levator ani descend upon the side of the vagina.

Physical examination is usually found to be normal. Emotional factors, sexual activity, or fatigue may trigger an attack.
More to discuss with our GP...

I would tend to include "up the ass" in the groin region, but may be that's just me. Either way, good research, now talk to the doctor :p

It's also known as proctalgia fugax:
Proctalgia fugax - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I've had it on and off for almost 20 years. It hits me about once a month, and in its earliest years, was almost always triggered by an orgasm. Now, though, there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it, but the worst episodes are the ones that come in the middle of the night - because the pain will wake me up, and keep me up for at least a half-hour; sometimes over an hour. The silver lining is that for males, it's usually accompanied by a world-class erection. Unfortunately, it doesn't exactly put you in the mood to do anything with it, though . . . . .

The bad news is that there's no cure.
The good news is that other than its symptoms, there are no ill effects on your general health (barring the occasional loss of sleep). And if it's any consolation, I can say that in my case, both the length of the episodes and the severity of the pain has lessened with age. I used to get it on one side, and it would take about 20-30 minutes for the pain to go away; then it would start all over again on the other side. For the past few years, though, it seems to only happen on one side.

Two drugs that sometimes help are muscle relaxants (I use Soma) and anti-spasmodics (I use Levsin) The Levsin is faster-acting, as it's not swallowed; but put under the tongue and absorbed more quickly. If it happens in the middle of the night, though, the Soma will help you get back to sleep faster.

Like the articles say, a warm bath may help, but then again, we're talking about pain episodes that last 20-60 minutes, so who's to say it wouldn't be gone by the end of a warm bath anyway?

I even had one gastroenteroligist tell me to bend over, grab my ass cheeks and pull them apart as much as possible - that will sometimes stretch the muscle and end the cramp. Sometimes it works; sometimes not.

Have her talk to her doctor. Perhaps she can get some medicinal relief. Or better advice than mine.

Does it happen more often in some positions than others?

Hard to say - as she only ever wants it missionary.

The foot cramps are coming from intensely curly your toes during sex...more water is really the only simple cure.
As for the anal cramping you should get a doctors opinion (could be colon cramping). I would continue to stress the importance of seeing a doctor. Im sure she is scared at the thought of sex and your relationship will suffer..

possible help.

I've had this condition for many years now and it's pretty severe when it does come on. I'm a male. 42 years old. I've been in pain to the point where I'm pacing around my room like a caged animal and one time I even tried slapping myself as hard as possible to detract myself from the pain. I know this sounds extreme but I've done research and heard of many other men that have the same thing. Some even pass out from the pain. I was watching sports one day and I saw that an athlete had severe cramping in his leg. The solution was for him to get an IV to pump liquids into his body. That got me thinking, so I started an experiment of my own. When I feel this coming on...(usually it takes about 5min to come on full blown) I get up and drink about 2 tall glasses of water (or I drink an entire gatorade) and I go to the bathroom and take a super hot bath...usually in the cross legged position. I keep replacing the water with very hot water as it cools down. I stay calm and keep my mind active thinking about things other than the pain. Sometimes I even bring a magazine into the tub to distract me. I've done the water experiment now for my last five attacks and the severity has been greatly reduced. I used to do the hot water thing but that only seemed to help so much. Saturating my body with liquid has made a considerable difference in the pain. I had an attack tonight...a pretty bad one. The drinking water trick helped greatly. Since I started doing this I've never had pain as severe as it used to be. I hope this helps. It took me over ten years to figure this out. There does not seem to be a solution to this from the research I've done (at least what I have...you may have something different) good luck to you.
