thinking of getting my nipples pierced. need help!
so I really want my nipples pierced. they look really sexy when done but the only thing stopping me is the pain. im a big wuss when it comes to pain (like my ears getting their 2nd piercing done it hurt. i wanted to cry). i already got a piercer in mind and my boyfriend has his done and will be there with me. i've also read a few threads about it and im still curious and iffy about it. exactly how much did it hurt and for how long? is it better getting them done at once (i want to)? please help me reassure myself...:cringe::cringe::cringe::cringe::paranoid::paranoid::paranoid:

I guess what I'm saying is do it, do it, do it... umm... you know if you want that is. |
Honestly, you're sticking a needle into yourself and piercing your flesh - it's going to hurt. However, the pain will only be momentary and the healing process should be fairly quick. Barbells are less likely to get caught on things than loops are and you should disinfect only with a salt water solution like H2Ocean.
Stay away from bacitracin or anything else thick or goopy and it'll heal up nice and quickly. |
I thought getting mine done would hurt a lot more than it did seeing as how a friend of mine said it was awful. When I got them done it was just like a sharp pinch and then it felt fine. I'm not going to say that it will be the same for everyone but it wasn't bad for me. I recommend getting both done at once and I was not very sore after. There was definitely soreness but nothing too bad. One thing to make sure, sleep on your back. If you don't you will be super sore the next day. I sleep on my side/stomach mostly but I made sure to stay on my back for some time because the second night I slept on my stomach and it was bad the next day. I also agree with Manic Skafe on the barbells and using H2Ocean. That stuff is awesome.
Nipple piercings are awesome, especially if you love piercings like I do but can't have them anywhere visible because of work. |
My wife does not like needles or pain, and she had no problems getting her nipples pierced. The aftercare is key, keep the wounds cleaned & soaked as instructed.
Pierced nipples are totally hot. My wife has never regretted having hers done, other than having to be careful about which bra & top she wears depending on where she's going. |
It's gonna hurt.
The act of the needle going through your nipple only hurts for a split second. It's not bad. The main thing that people don't tell you is that you will be sore for a few days... maybe even weeks. And on a side note... I like girls with pierced nipple cause I have my tongue pierced... it's fun to clink them... |
When you said "need help", my first thought was that there'd be a rush of folks posting "'ll hold them for you", etc.
No? Just me then? Damn, I'm predictable. |
Well, asking how much something hurts isn't going to help you make this decision. Everyone's pain tolerance is different. Mine hurt and I got a bit light headed but the more annoying part for me is always the healing. Getting pierced hurts but it's momentary, healing a piercing though is a 6 month process (after a couple weeks the constant soreness is gone and after a couple months they feel fine except for the occasional bump). In the end, it was very worth it though.
My advice would be to go for it, but find a good piercer because it does make a difference. Get captive rings instead of barbells, I switched mine to barbells after three months and it looks better but they get caught all the time! Also if you're going to get it done in the winter, keep your nipples shielded from the cold as to minimize discomfort. H2Ocean is a the best aftercare I've ever used and keep in mind that if you don't like them, you can take them out. I know that doesn't really answer your question about the pain but I hope it helps a bit. |
I just had mine done a week ago... there was pain, but not bad at all! Painful pressure, then a sharp pinch when the needle pops out the other side.
Keep on top of your aftercare routine, and use only a saline solution on it! Get them done at the same time... oh, and post pics! ;) |
I have had mine pierced now for about 3 years, I think. For me there was no pain but I had no pain in getting my ears re-pierced nor do I find the needle entering my skin while give blood painful. I find it feels good to me, maybe I'm just a freak.
As for the healing, its not so bad. There are days when they become a lil painful if you don't get them situated in your bra just right like if your nipple gets cocked one way or the other but I got over that learning curve pretty quickly. I sadly still have problems with my right one but I think it has to do with the fact that the at the time I worked at a pizza joint and the sheeter had this big metal door on it and I smaked it right into my right nipple the day after getting them done. When I got home I had two blood spots on the inside of my bra. I also tend to sleep on my right side so periodically it will get a little tender and that healing crust still appears sometimes. The left one gives me no problems at all. I love them and would do them over again in a split second. When I look at the nekked pics of me before the piercings I think how plain my nipples looked and how much I like they way they look now. |
I find peirced nipples hot. But always wonder how you handle it during your menstural period and/or ovulation symptoms. And how do you manage nursing when you have a baby?

I've thought about getting mine done but I am chicken to!
I have piercings and tattoos already - in what most people would say are painful areas but every time I go to get a new piercing I freak out (same thing doesn't happen with tatts though) I also worry about getting too many piercings - aesthetically that is - I mean I already have a few in my right ear (mainly helix's) my tongue and a genital one as well as the 3 tattoos. Might talk to the SO about it and see if he thinks it would make me look 'cluttered' CB I've never had a bad effect in regards to my breasts from menstruation or ovulation - maybe a bit of increased tenderness but that's it. As for nursing Quote:
Though I seemed to get the same kindof information at the 10 or so sites I visited on the issue. |
Hyacinthe, thanks for the detailed post
I am not familiar to a female body with any peircing or tattoos. But there are plans :) |
ive had one done before..hurt for about 2 seconds..then aches for a few hours.
its not that bad..really! |
Take a lot of acetaminophen (aspirin and ibuprofen thin the blood and increase bleeding). Just be sure not to take too much as it can damage your liver (just take the max dosage for what it says on the bottle). And breathe a lot, as if you were giving birth. I haven't given birth, but I have done a lot of full contact sports and had a lot of injuries, breathing is the best thing for pain.

She was very meticulous about the aftercare--cleaning the wounds twice a day, keeping the rings rotated, & doing the soakings in saline solution. We don't have children, so I have no idea about breastfeeding. |
