As for my judgment on the drugs' use and such, the answer is simple: formal education in the use/abuse of legal and elicit drugs, their typical use (purpose) and who typically tends to use it (like, the example that cocaine users often use ketamine). Some of it is straight out of my textbooks, and the rest comes from my 2 professors, who've been working as medics for about 15 years, and nearly 2 decades, respectively. Their experience in witnessing such things is very extensive. I have no personal experience with the abuse of any legal drug, or the use/abuse of any elicit drug, save marijuana. |

EDIT: God I hate guys who are "that guy." So arrogant and so fucking desperate at the same time. |

I had never heard of ketamine's use as a date-rape drug before, either. But I believe Analog on this. I don't have much experience or knowledge about that class of drugs. There are a lot of other drugs that induce amnesia that are used in medical procedures (like, say, colonoscopies)... are they ever used to inebriate someone?
I think it was Versed that I had during my colonoscopy. It was pretty scary... I only remember an instance of screaming and having a nurse tell me "It's going to be OK." Then I asked them if I was awake during it, and they said no. The next day I was sore and I had bruises on my arms, chest and upper back. Not that I blame them for keeping me from running around, screaming, with a probe up my ass—I just wish they didn't lie. There's no excuse for that, and I don't give a shit about a few litigious morons. |
Cuz they are meanies who do not care.

Anything is a date rape drug. Application.
I hear music used to do the trick in the late '60s. |
Yeah, "date rape drugs", another sob story of pharmacopoeia. Some of us just want to get high. Personally have no use for dates, rape, or date rape. Then a couple of losers and the media have to go get it ruined for the rest of us. I know plenty of people who have used GHB and K recreationally including myself; I don't know anyone who was ever date raped or raped period. I also haven't ended up in the ER yet. Not that it doesn't happen but let's just conveniently ignore alcohol as usual, because we already tried to ban it and nobody liked that. There just aren't enough people using the other potentially dangerous drugs to cause an uproar.

Example: I helped hold a guy while they popped his arm back into the socket. From a few moments before the versed went in, until the expected wear-off time, he had no memory. He was finally coming around and kept asking when we were going to start. I had to keep telling him we'd already done it. Meanwhile, the process itself involved him yelling a lot and acting generally pretty unhappy. If you remember anything at all, it's because it started to wear off a little before they gave you another dose. Versed is generally pretty good at keeping the memory gone. |
off-topic...
But I'm having trouble wrapping my head around the 'rape is about sex' opinions. The way you explain it, any guy could rape someone if he were deprived of sex. I have a hard time believing this - not to mention a hard time believing that most of the guys on here supporting this opinion would consider themselves capable of rape if they went without sex for an extended period of time. 'Rape is about power' is a catchphrase, meant to capture the idea that what makes men rape is not just the need for sex - it is also fueled by aggression, a need to control and, sometimes, a hatred of the victim (or what the victim represents). Like some of the sexual activity that is perpetrated in prisons. It's not that complicated. |
