Cock ring question

I'm planning on buying my first cock ring (aka penis ring) soon. I'm trying to decide between the Sean Michaels Love Ring or a plain leather cock ring. I think I'd like the Sean Michaels ring better, but I'm worried it could slip and loosen, which would defeat the whole purpose. If anybody has tried it please let me know. Any other suggestions are appreciated.

BTW although this is my first cock ring, I have experimented masturbating using the stretchy hair ties as a cock ring. I'm looking for something a little more "professional" and that I won't have to cut off to use with my wife.

I don't have any experience with either of those, but a coupleof years ago,
I purchase a set of three purple stretchy ones. They were kinda fun, but only one was not uncomfortably tight.
In use, it was quite fun, and seemed to have provided benefits for my female partner. It became an interesting situation, when it... um... dislodged, while inserted. :)
I had to remove it by hand. It encircled the cervix, and was fairly difficult to grasp.
I was sooooooooo glad we know each other well.

An ex of mine had a vibrating cock ring.

I never used it cause I wasn't really sure how many other times it had been used... ew.

Martel 12-14-2006 03:36 PM

Personally I enjoy the big stretchy ones. I'd go for one of those before getting a fixed-size one, for sure.

And World's King... yeah, thats nasty.

I'm going to second Martel and say get a stretchy one. It will DEFINITELY make your penis a bit bigger when on (because it's all engorged) and so if you're really really big you might want to give your girl a bit of a warning.

But yeah, cock rings are awesome!

Re: The Sean Michaels variety: I don't get it! What does one do with the beads at the ends? I prefer leather. Adjustable and comfortable are very important.
One time while going at it quite vigorously, my mate closed her legs and squished my nuts; it wouldn't have hurt without the cock ring on, but man, I had to withdraw (dammit) and I fell off the bed. Otherwise they've been quite a lot of fun.

The idea of them kinda freaks me out, seems like it would be painful to wear. What sort of benefit do they offer besides keeping you hard?

mixedmedia 12-15-2006 03:13 AM

My boyfriend has one similar to the Sean Michaels one, but it has only one bead. It won't slip and loosen so don't worry about that. The bead fits very snugly onto the rubber tubing it is threaded on. Moving it is not as easy as it looks. I would think that this sort of ring would be better than most others because you can adjust it to fit you exactly. It's the only one I have experience with, though.

"Enhanced" erection is the main benefit I'm going for. From my experience it helps keep the blood in the penis, making for a harder and larger erection. Other benefits include a pleasurable sensation from the pressure at the base of the penis and I've also heard it can help delay orgasm, which for me is a good thing.

BTW My wife is very sexually conservative. She'll probably say "what do you need that for?" I was thinking if I go with the leather one I can have a little fun with her and tell her its "like a weight training belt for my penis, it will help prevent me from tearing or straining myself." :-)

Leather could get germy since it is permeable and can' be boiled or otherwise effectively disinfected. I would go for silicone for cleanliness.

Heavy Metal

Something not mentioned so far is the line of metal (stainless steel!) cock rings by Gear Essentials (and some others, I guess, but GE makes the best)

I've got personal experience with one of these (it was my first ring :D) and also the silicone mega-stretch type rings. So, because they're a fixed size, the GE rings require sizing to make sure you get a good fit... it's pretty simple, as you just take a string or thin strip of paper and wrap it from the top of your shaft, under your balls, and back and divide that length by 3.14 to get the diameter.

On to the difference between these and the silicone ones (when worn the same way) - the silicone one does have the desired effect, making my man-member more "full" and such, but the silicone can sometimes create the same sticky feeling of "balls stuck to thigh" in a different area. As for the metal ring, it's quite comfortable once it's on (I even wear it as a kind of unseen jewelry once I'm out and about) and it's a bit of a turn on, just feeling the weight of it there. As far as in the bed performance, it definitely wins over the stretchy kind, as there's no way it's going anywhere, and, aside from filling up my man-member very much, it also gives me more control over my orgasm and overall feels very nice to wear. GE makes a bunch of different designs of these, and the larger Imperial and Omega are said to be big enough that even *she* can feel their presence. The Titan .2 and .4 are more conservative, and more comfortable to wear around all day. They even come in mirrored, brushed, or charcoal (anodized?) finish... It's quite attractive, too - at least that's what HedwigStrange said when I first revealed to her what I was wearing under my trousers :D

I've thought about getting one of these... just never made the leap....

My sub uses a leather cock ring- the optics are amazing and the hard-on is incredible. I highly recommend it! If germs are a concern go for the more easy to clean mediums.

streak_56 01-26-2007 05:32 PM

I'd go for a stretch silicone one because:

A) It can stretch over for easy "instal"
B) Silicone can be cleaned and stays clean
C) It can be clear and depending on the right angle, you can hide it and fake having a larger penis
D) Easier to remove once you ejaculate depending on whether you're using lube or not

Basically, those are all my reasons. I have three different kinds and three different sizes. As long as you keep them clean and use them in the right way, you shouldn't have any problems with it.

The vibrating variety can be quite a turn on for both parties involved... just make sure you get one that is solid enough to pass the vibrations throughout your shaft to your partner!

We started out with the new vibrating ring that trojan has on the market. Its about 5.00. Wife really enjoyed that. But to be honest the batteries dont really last long. So soon we went to the local porn shop and purchased a bigger vibe cock ring. I have to lube it up really good or I cant get it on, and once we get going the wife orgasms one right after another. Its alot of fun and I can prety much hold out till I want to let go. Its easily the single best toy we have purchased to use togther.

mixedsubstance 02-09-2007 08:36 AM

I've never experienced it myself but my boyfriend has. Since he's seen some ugly things happen to other people, he won't use it again. He worked in emergency and a guy who was taking viagra had it on one time and his penis would not go down, ending up cutting off the circulation.....so guess what happened....ya.

So be careful...you may not be taking viagra, but there is always a risk.

If this is the main benefit you're going for, wouldn't Viagra be a safer alternative? Assuming you don't have some kind of erectile dysfunction, you could bite a 50 mg tablet in half and get the effect you're going for. Whatever, a really tight cockring can be damaging to the blood vessels and spongy tissue of your penis, according to several difference authoritative sources that I've read on the subject.

I bet you this was due more to the cockring than to the Viagra. Also, it would be informative to know just how much Viagra this guy took, and if he took any other drugs (legal or not) with it.

Viagra and a cockring? That sounds insane! It's almost as reckless and dangerous as the guy who injected cocaine into his penis.

There is a cockring (which isn't the really tight kind) with a tiny, capsule-shaped vibrater that seats at the base of the penis, right where it bumps up against the woman's clitoris. Another type of cockring (again, not the really tight kind) has two or three little steel ball bearings, encased in rubber or silicone, that dangle from cords from the ring, at the base of the penis. During intercourse, these little ball bearings slap against the wearer's balls and against his partner's ass (or against her clitoris, depending on the position of the lovers).

Cock rings enhance the performance and sensation of both parties.
...both being an understatement.

damage is real

i have been wearing a cockring for several years(about 50% of the time).
i wear it daily. i also design them in sterling. I have developed some damage probably from wearing it during the day. (Blood clots, numbness and some impotence). the impotence is assumably more due to stress and other psych. factors, but loss of blood flow is a contributor. i love using cockrings as jewelry as well as for sex, as I enjoy the sensation of having my balls held away from my body(the cockring keeps them from being pulled up into my groin). There is a price for this and I would encourage anyone to follow the advice of many, if not every experienced sex educator to not leave them on for long periods of time. Fit is a crucial factor as well, but a loose fitting cockring will fall off during daily activities. Too tight a fit i can verify will cause damage over time.
take good care!

I've used an o-ring from the hardware store as a budget approach. This is the same thinking that led to try to talk my girl into using a vibrating toothbrush as a low cost makeshift (or travel) vibro. BTW I love the veiny effect of the o-ring. Just realised the marketing potential - O stands for Orgasm ...

horsehead 03-09-2007 09:18 AM

In my experience, either one will suffice, but I prefer the security of leather with snaps.
As with anything, I like variety, so I have about three that secure in multiple areas;
the most basic one fastening around the cock & balls.
The most elaborate one fastening around the cock & balls, a strap around the ball sack and a ball separator.
The feeling of the last one is amazing. The blood to the balls heightens the sensitivity to a whole new level.

As far as cleaning, leather IS more time consuming to clean, but it can be done.

The silicone variety are easier to clean, but have not lasted long with prolonged use.

Whenever you are going to use a sex toy it would be advisable that primarily you should know about the use of it. They are generally designed to make the sexual roleplay interesting and therefore chances of them slipping etc. can happen only if inexperience comes into play. I have tried it personally and there hasnt been any problems whatsoever, so it should not be a problem for others too.
