What is your political affiliation (or do you even have one)?

Just curious as to what the general politial affiliations are around here. I think it would be a useful thing to consider when reading the politics board.

The poll is totally anonymous and I've tried to be as inclusive as possible.

Willravel 02-12-2005 10:19 AM

Libertarian. Not to be confused with librarian.

C4 Diesel 02-12-2005 10:30 AM

Oh, yeah... For everyone's info... I consider myself libertarian, although I often have conflicting viewpoints that follow more in line with the dems. I very rarely lean to the conservative side.

FngKestrel 02-12-2005 10:33 AM

Democrat, but a few outliers when it comes to certain issues.

flstf 02-12-2005 11:18 AM

Mostly Libertarian, live and let live.

Grasshopper Green 02-12-2005 11:31 AM

I'm democratic, although I lean a little to the conservative side of the party.

guy44 02-12-2005 12:19 PM

Democrat, but only because Democratic Socialists don't really have anything going on in the U.S.

samcol 02-12-2005 05:28 PM

Libertarian who leans towards conservative on the controversial issues gay marriage, guns, god, and abortion.

Lebell 02-12-2005 05:29 PM

Right leaning independent, with strong libertarian leanings.

tecoyah 02-12-2005 06:31 PM

None of the above....but registered green . I vote for who and what I believe in.

Willravel 02-12-2005 06:36 PM

Republicans need not fear coming forward. I, for one, would not persecute someone for their political party. Odds are that roughtly 51% of people on TFP could be republican. The poll seems to reflect differently.

StanT 02-12-2005 06:37 PM

I'm all over the place, issue by issue. I tend to vote for incumbents, if I think they have done a good job. I like liberal Republicans and conservative Democrats.

Indeed.

Unfortunately, candidates are forced to appeal to the extremists in their parties to be considered "electable".

alansmithee 02-12-2005 07:59 PM

Generally republican, but I try to vote for who I feel will make the most positive change.

guthmund 02-12-2005 11:46 PM

I'm a registered Democrat, but I tend to vote for who I think the best man for the job is.

I won't vote for a fellow simply because we have something in common on our voter registration cards nor will I vote against a fellow simply because we don't.

archer2371 02-13-2005 03:24 AM

Reagan Revolution Republican right here.

stevo 02-13-2005 07:32 AM

Card-carrying member of the republican party living in a purple state where my vote means something.

NCB 02-13-2005 09:44 AM

I'm still a registered GOPer, though I now consider myself more of a conservative than a GOPer. Conservatives are a rare breed in today's Republican Party.

nothing to add. just pretend i said that.

Ratman 02-13-2005 08:38 PM

I was looking for the "common sense" choice, then remembered that this is POLITICS. Therefore, none.

Konichiwaneko 02-19-2005 09:13 PM

Social Libertarian to almost liberal

Economic Conservative

I think you see this reflect in my posting here if you ever skim by them

oktjabr 02-22-2005 02:15 PM

Just to be safe, I voted for "other" - I'm inclined to vote the leftist or green party here in Finland. And probably every party here is more liberal than the republican party in USA. Hell, even liberal-rightwingers (libertarian rightwingers in bastardized american political slang) have said that they'd be democrats.

I support personal freedom and regulated economy, that is.

Yakk 02-22-2005 02:27 PM

Free Market Socialist Democrat. Which places me ideologically opposed to major planks in both right wing and left wing parties.

Otherwise known as none of the above.

In the last election, my incumbant seemed to have done a good job, so I voted for him.

02-22-2005 02:36 PM

To quote Dead Prez "Bounce to this Socialist Movement."

teflonian 02-22-2005 02:55 PM

Party less... Just because I think the party system in the U.S. is broken. Though I vote leftish.

uncle phil 02-22-2005 05:03 PM

noone is looking over my shoulder when the curtain's closed...

nofnway 03-21-2005 07:44 PM

right wing wacko republican nut job, but you already knew that.

jonjon42 03-21-2005 07:50 PM

I no longer wish to be assoicated with any party. I'm my own effing party now.

nofnway 03-21-2005 08:03 PM

we can have our own effing party? Awesome!

lindseylatch 03-21-2005 08:15 PM

I'm pretty liberal, I suppose I'd say Democrat. I don't know all about some of the other parties, so I can't say I'm not one of those...:p I took a little quiz thingy (like 10 questions) that said I was a socialist, but I don't think ten questions covers all the angles...

JBX 03-21-2005 08:56 PM

A conservative without religion.

Hain 03-21-2005 09:03 PM

Democrat only because I am still a few degrees short of a Communist. I like it but we'd never get over that hill of Socialism. Also, I am fairly radical in my ideas about technology--the funding, uses, and advancements thereof--and find some sanctuary in the Democratic Platform.

MSD 03-21-2005 11:43 PM

Social libertarian, economically moderate, moderate on foreign policy. I fall between democrat and libertarian on the political compass, but I tend to vote for the latter, as I feel that the major parties have fallen prey to self-interest and are unable to adequately represent more than a minute fraction of the population.

I am the classical minarchist, believing in a "night watchman state" that intervenes only when a person's rights have been violated.

The three biggest issues I consider are gun control (opposed,) free speech/expression/privacy (strongly support in all situations,) and a belief in minimal government, covering low spending, low tax rates, careful consideration of spending on social programs, and a complete abhorrence of property taxes, eminent domain, and similar government activities that I consider indistinguishable from armed robbery.

omega2K4 03-22-2005 12:39 PM

None for the most part, but I agree mostly with Libertarian and Socialist parties' ideals.

Dwayne 03-23-2005 12:18 PM

I put down Libertarian, however, I will vote for whoever shares my views.

Bill O'Rights 03-23-2005 01:01 PM

I am a card carrying member of the Libertarian Party. Although I do not necessarily agree with every issue the Party espouses, I identify with, and support enough of, the party platform, to have joined thier ranks.

pig 03-23-2005 01:05 PM

Piggletarian.
