Its kinda weird Sen. Kerry might be back in DC

Why didnt John Kerry concede his Senator Seat if he was/is so sure he will win?

Iit just comes across weird- you expect America to have faith in you- when you dont? :hmm:

Thats just something that strikes me as weird

I mean- did Edwards concede his?

I don't think it is customary to resign your seat until you have actually won. Did Bush resign as governer of texas while running?

Neither candidate can be certain that they'll win. Don't see what's wrong with him not conceding his senate seat.

Bush didn't resign his governor's post until dec 21 2000... so i suppose that means he would have kept it. it is customary to resign your position while running for another office... though it's not entirely uncommon to choose not to.

Bush wasnt missing votes in senate though

You can run a state on the road- but you cant absentee ballot in congress

Bush had already completed his second term of governor. I know Dole resigned but his career was basically over if he didn't win presidency. I guess Liebermen (sp?) did not resign either when he was running for vice president. What is Edwards plan? Did he have to run again to stay?

Edwards' seat was up this year. Ironically, from what I understand he was given little chance of winning it back, so this is his only shot.

I don't agree that someone can run a state on the road. That just seems like a silly and unsubstantiated assertion to me.

But the real question is what you would propose should have happened. If kerry had resigned, how would that have helped his state? it's not like they would have held an election the next day.

I think Lieberman ran for senate at the same time he was running for V.P. Edwards didn't but from what I understand he didn't have a chance of keeping his seat.
