(I know my post has nothing to do with the thread, but the article reminded me of that :p ) |
Well, as a lot of non-US people have called for boycotts of US goods, I see no problem with the US doing the same.
|
Interesting article. Personally, I have no difficulty believing that the same government that plagiarized a college student's paper and tried to present it to the U.N. as evidence of Iraq's "weapons of mass destruction" would engage in a libelous campaign to provoke anti-French sentiment.

And to everyone who seems to have embraced inane France-bashing as the fashionable thing to do... I wonder if you realize just how much France has historically done for both America and the world in general. |

I wouldn't order Freedom fries. It just sounds stupid. And I studied Freedom in high school, I really hated the language. My Freedom-teacher failed me, because she had me mixed up with my friend, who was also in my Freedom-class.

If we intend to bomb everyone who doesn't agree with US policy better strap on your boots boys. That is abt 99.9% of the world. Hell, we can't even agree on US policy in the US. Best be real glad that we don't need the support of the rest of the world.

I think it just shows the childish nature of the Pentagon.
Frenchie doesn't like us beating up the other kids in the playground, so lets start spreading stories about how Frenchie smells. |
You don't have to spread stories about how bad the French smell! They're kinda' like a sewer pond - If they're close you've done been whammed!

Better go back in time and tell whomever accepted Lady Liberty the facts, buddy. French have a better grasp of liberty and freedom than do we Americans (as is evident by such a thoughtful statue). |
I think Liquor Dealer was referring to actual body odour, rather than anything metaphorical.
You may have noticed that there are no 40m high male statues near to Lady Liberty. That would be due to the effect of her exposed armpits. |

I find the american obsession (not everyone obviously) with boycotting to be a source of great humour. I've listened to Bill O'Reilly spew his venom about everything french and his callers who are extremely uninformed about the world are just hillarious :) "Bill, I support your boycott on France, and to show how much I hate them I went out and bought 4 cases of red wine and dumped it all in the sewer, that'll show em!'
