I have had enough

It would seem the basic human ability to be rational has lost its usefulness in the TFP politics forum. I have watched people act so very childish, and sometimes downright nasty towards each other on a regular Basis, it has grown old. Not that it will be much of a loss, but I am no longer going to contribute in this area of TFP, as I find myself becoming more like those who are the reason for my frustration.
Perhaps after the election cycle we can all act as we once did in here.....and respect the opinions of individuals, One can only hope.

See you in January.

Tecoyah,

Why let others silence you and chase you away. Stand up, debate your beliefs and let those who disagree and want to be childish do so. It only hurts their arguments.

You can ignore posters, or if a post bothers you move on don't react. There are some on here who flame and troll to elicit reactions just so that person believes they won.

Tec, I have great respect for you and I learn from you, don't ever let anyone silence you or take away your will to voice your opinion.

Your choice, I respect you no matter what you do, you are a great passionate person.

sorry to hear that buddy.

i myself took a similar sabatical earlier this year. TFP is leisure time for me and when it becomes personally frustrating and abusive it's no longer worth it... so i know how you feel. anyway, i hope you at least come back in november after the election. if you poke your head in once or twice before then i won't think any less of ya. see you on the other boards.

Tecoyah,

We haven't sparred politically, but I have read many of your posts and the thoughtfulness that goes into them is needed in here. Even if we disagree on the issues, we can't give up control of intelligent debate to those who wish to use shrill rhetoric to guide their opinions. To keep my sanity, I only post on occassion.

I respect your decision, but hope you reconsider.

You know Tec., after my "Mad AS HELL...." thread led to nothing but personal attack and spewing of hatred, perhaps my first post here was done in haste. Perhaps there can not be any civility on this board. Hell, we can't have civility in our own government, why should we expect it from the people.

I back you 100% Tecoyah...it seems that its just not possible to state your opinion in a civilized way without having people come back at you in many different ways...if your post isnt almost an entire page long, annotated and containing quotes and a bibliography to back you "position" then you're "not informed" and thus not worth "debating" with.

To me some of the things that go on in the politics forum are just childish.

Insane

Man that's weak. You're just running away because you support [insert candidate here] and he is a [insert string of explicatives here] that will never win the election because [insert specious arguments here] and everyone who supports the [insert opposing party here] just owns you in every discourse.

Just kidding... Sometimes one must step back and laugh about something when one realizes its seriousness is giving one a hernia I feel ya though... I mostly lurk in the politics forum because it's like watching a train wreck in action... A train wreck carrying lots of hazardous and explosive materials. And I fear if I get too close, I'll either get poisoned or blown up. Or both and become radioactive gibs lying about everywhere...

I personally believe that the moderators do a fine job for such an explosive forum. Tilted politics does require that you put on a thicker skin at times.

While I rarely agree with your statements, they always seem to make me internally rejustify my position. That I appreciate. Thank-you.

P.S. If you think you are frustrated, what about the people trying to get America out of its current situation? No matter what they do, it backfires.
