They were playing. Nothing more sinister than that. Couple this with the article that I read yesterday about Laura instructing her daughters to stand up straight, and keep their hair out of their faces, while campaigning for daddy, and it's funny.

Funny is something that this election could use a little more of, in my opinion. Not that the election shouldn't be taken seriously, but a little levity in both camps could go a long way. Maybe Jenna figured that out?

Well, anything that keeps Jeb's drug addicted jailbird daughter out of the press I guess is good news for the Bushes. Haven't heard about her in awhile.

Seriously, there must be some serious dysfunction in the Bush family. George adopts 2 and there for awhile the press made them sound like alcoholics and Ashton Kutcher saying he partied with them. Jeb's daughter gets busted forging prescriptions for Xanax and other drugs.

In a real family this would be hard but perhaps normal teen/20's behaviour. In a political family of the GOP "family values" type, it is normally political suicide. Shows me the Bushes preach one thing but do another and if these are things the daughters were caught doing what else are they doing? And if the family knows the perils and destruction addiction causes why do they keep cutting aid to treatment centers?

You never saw nor heard of Chelsea, Amy Carter, Nixon's daughters, LBJ's kids or any presidential kids acting this way. It's about respect and keeping problems in house. So, it shows me, the girls don't care about embarassing their fathers with their actions in public and the fathers don't care what the daughters do. Just my opinion.

Back to the thread, this was fluff and gets the daughters to look playful, while taking the heat off past public problems.

Jenna was stupid thinking in Texas bartenders wouldnt know who she was or what her real age was. But it doesnt mean their family is somehow disfunctional. Young people do things all the time without thinking, this just ranks up there.

And by the way, I did read a number of things about Chelsea being an alcoholic when in college, just no one paid attention to it instead concentrating on Bill like they should be.

Political families carry a certain image (rightfully or wrongfully) and are expected to not bring bad press, especially a political family that preaches supposed family values.

Jeb's daughter obviously needed help, and with his connections could have gotten her help. I think someone in Jeb's camp could have done something to help her before she got busted. The Dubya's daughters know the world is watching them, it is foolish for them to try to drink underage in public. Or threaten bartenders and cause public disturbances. If they were adults that would be different because you embarass yourself moreso than the family.

Granted when I was a teen, I drank underage, BUT I am not a politician's son. NOR would I ever have brought disgrace to my family by doing something in public that would embarass them.

Sorry just the way I was raised, obviously the Bush daughters (both Jeb and Dubya's) weren't raised with that noble characteristic.

Chelsea since Clinton has been out of office and is grown, yes has had some bad press, so did Amy Carter (admitted she was gay and said she smoked pot) and Patty Nixon, however ALL were adults and all had their fathers out of the WH.

That was from '01, Barb's improved quite a bit since then, in my opinion.
