      And some people apparently think Bush knows all (or damn close to all). I'm amazed he doesn't push that little button on his desk that annihilates all his detractors in a single fell swoop. After all, his power and knowledge seem to have grown to near mythical proportions if a tenth of what some of his detractors say is true. |
To the people here that feel it's necessary to compare Bush to Hitler: grow up, get some info about the holocaust, and come back when you've learned to put things in perspective.
FYI, I'm Jewish. Most of the Jewish side of my family was exterminated during WW2. Care to explain to me why exactly you think Bush is comparable to Hitler? I've got at least six million reasons to doubt it. Now, with that said, can we please keep this thread mature and to the point? /rant |

I see nothing immature about this comaprison. Is Saddam less evil than Ayatollah Khomeni? Is Stalin less evil than mussolini? |
Rdr4evr: I doubt there's any point in discussing this with you. You have your point of view, I have mine. I just hope that one day you'll realize how very wrong you are.
Until then, I'm leaving this thread before it gets out of control. |

Washington, Lincoln, FDR, Hitler, Stalin, Churchill, Kerry, Bush, and Clinton to name a few. I'm sure many British at the time hated Washington, I KNOW the south hated Lincoln enough to kill him, the Japanese certainly hated FDR, the Germans certainly hated Churchill, Kerry killed Vietnamese, Bush killed Iraqi's and Afgani's, Clinton killed Bosnians. I assume you agree whole-heartedly. |
The focus here is on the soldiers who stood by and let this happen, not on the leaders. I don't care if they were given orders to do so or not. There comes a time to stand up for people. Otherwise, the USA might as well abandon any pretentions at all of morality.

Evidence is mounting to suggest that between 5,000 and 10,000 Iraqi civilians may have died during the war, according to researchers involved in independent surveys of the country. Others show numbers as high as 13,118, and that's not counting Afghanistan. If this was happening in our country, to your wives and children, what would you think of the man behind it? |
Along with other human rights organizations, The Documental Centre for Human Rights in Iraq has compiled documentation on over 600,000 civilian executions in Iraq. Human Rights Watch reports that in one operation alone, the Anfal, Saddam killed 100,000 Kurdish Iraqis. Another 500,000 are estimated to have died in Saddam's needless war with Iran. Coldly taken as a daily average for the 24 years of Saddam's reign, these numbers give us a horrifying picture of between 70 and 125 civilian deaths per day for every one of Saddam's 8,000-odd days in power.
No reasonable person wants or desires "needless" deaths. But you fail to mention the "murders" attributed to Saddam. How many more people would have died under Saddam's rule in comparison to your statistics? |

Thank you for the post KMA.
30,000 deaths? No. Please post where you get the information so we can view it ourselves. I can estimate that 2 people died in the war, it doesnt mean it has any truth in the matter. |

This has degraded into two sides throwing numbers at each other so we can claim one dictator is better/worse than the next.
Does this pissing contest have any merits? not in a civilized discussion. Thread Closed. |
