What if Kerry dropped out for some reason who would you like the dems to run?
Listening to Limbaugh I got to thinking what if Kerry dropped out who would I want? I think the one who scares the GOP most and stands the best chance is Edwards.
Not that it would happen, but it is nice to think about as I truly don't think Kerry has the charisma to win. And the anti-Bush is too small to help.

A moderate centrist would stand the best chance of winning the election. Lieberman fits that description, but Democrats tend not to recycle canidates (ever see Dukakis anymore?)
I suggest any dark horse that hasn't gotten any media attention. |

John Edwards could have beaten Bush. Kerry is too pompous of an asshole to get the mainstream vote. Edwards had an uplifting message and was a great debater. Kerry just looks and acts like a pissed off jerk and has no real positive message. I think in the end that is going to turn off most voters.

Southern "charasmatic"(sp) vote would beat the pompous nor-eastern vote in this election, I concur about Edwards. Also just by policy I think Lieberman wouldn't be bad.

Wanna back that up with some examples? I mean, I don't think Kerry's the greatest candidate ever, but I haven't seen him looking like a pissed off jerk. |

Well there was incident when he was skiing, and apperently a secret service agent tripped him up.

If you want to get a real feel for Kerry, try to see him live or even meet him if possible. It will most likely change your opinion. He does tend to come off like he has a stick up his ass when he is on t.v., but in person he is quite different.
If Kerry dropped out, it would be quite interesting. I am guessing that the issue would go to the convention, and there anything is possible. Edwards would have the obvious leg up, but a Leiberman or a Dean or even Clarke could surface in a convention atmosphere. The name that I would like to see would be Biden (as I said in another thread) but the name that (unfortunately) keeps bubbling up in my mind is Hilary Clinton. She could claim that it was the will of the delegates and that she is doing it for the good of the party and then not look like quite as much of a hypocrite.

As a Republican, I have to say I WOULDN'T want to see an Edwards-Lieberman ticket, because I think that those two together would have a real good shot at beating Bush.
I would like to see Hilary Clinton, since she would have no chance in hell of winning unless we find out Bush allowed bin Laden to attack us to give him reason to invade Iraq for oil, or somethign impossible like that.

As many of you know I am slightly to the right of Newt Gingrich, but this president has sold out many of the core beliefs he ran on. His base is not as content as they would have you believe. If the Dems had a good candidate, like the Bob Kerry, from Nebraska ( a war Hero of the first degree ), they could run on strength and principles. I don't have a suggestion for a running mate, but he would surely do a better job than the Kerry you have now. Bush is very vunerable, all the country needs is a candidate it can trust and Bush is out. It may be too late for that now and you will have to live with Bush for 4 more years.

Although I hate Bush, and don’t particularly like Kerry, I despise Edwards most of all. This little ratbastard is the very reason medical coverage in this country is so screwed up. Before becoming the great and wonderful Senator from North Carolina (where might I add he had no shot in hell of being reelected which is why he ran for President) Edwards made his millions suing doctors over frivolous lawsuits driving up the price of malpractice insurance in his state to obscene numbers, which I can guarantee you was eventually passed on to the patient. It is little weasels like this guy who need to be drug out into the street and beat by every senior citizen, single mother, struggling young family, or anyone else for that matter, who cannot afford medical coverage in this country (or if you are unlucky enough to live in one of those states where medical malpractice insure is incredibly obscene, finding a doctor at all can be a challenge because they have all left).
http://www.nationalreview.com/commen...0401260836.asp So who would I like to see run? I think a Carrottop/Clinton (Bill) ticket would be ideal. Then after a week in Carrottop can quit to go write his memoirs, and we can let Bill get back to running this country again. (damn 22 amendment) |
